Aphelios' chakrams are a missed opportunity for a new ADC

Aphelios has a lot of stuff crammed into his kit, and that's good.

However, as a result of this, every piece of his kit hasn't enough space to be explored.

I think his chakrams have a lot of potential and I wish they could have a fully developed kit built around them.

As a concept they are quite unique, for they are basically the closest thing we will ever get to a boomerang marksman.

They are for sure a welcomed variation from the traditional gun wielding folk shooting a projectile.

Edit: I wasn't clear on my topic, I'm taking about gameplay uniqueness, and not about theme. Specifically, chakrams attack timers depend on catching them back.

It can still happen, if we can have 13+ champs with guns Aphel doesn't have to have the monopoly on boomerangs or flamethrowers, or ranged scythes

I think there are way too many guns in the game for being a premodern world so i really hope we dont see any more mechanically traditional guns anymore. That's why i kinda like Sennas relic cannon and Severum bc they take the idea of what may look like a gun and turn its on its head. Sennas cannon kinda leaches the life out of ur soul, it pulls instead of shooting, and severum uses a etheral blade. Still tho id like some more throwing blades, blow guns, spears, slings, needles, kunai, rope darts, meteor hammers, flamethrowers, mini-onagers and more

Yep. Aphelios as a whole is overall quite uninteresting. (Guy with a lot of guns). He doesn't feel like he has a niche... I suppose if someone wants the FPS fantasy where they run through a bunch of different guns? But why does he also have turrets. It's just a curious design for his kit. And that's right after Senna, whose kit they also stuffed with a little of everything.

I was thinking this exact thing. All the other small gimmicks on him are fine. But the chakram game play is good enough to be the basis for its own champ.

Well, In my opinion he should have only Calibrum ( visually ) since it is only weapon that fits him. ( Maybe also chakrams but it is the missed opportunity for another ADC )

They're a missed opportunity for a draven rework tbh.

If anything I think it'd need to be a fighter. Quinn was the last time we tried to have a close quarters ADC, and she mainly plays like an Assassin nowadays. The struggle comes from needing to give them survival tools for playing dangerously with a close range Chakram, (Be it sustain, CC, sheilds) and also a way to put yourself into situations where you can use Chakram effectively (Mobility, Speed boosts, targetted dashes).

I think Aphelios's chakrams work because they're not the champion as a whole, but an aspect of a champion whose weaknesses put a price to Chakram's potenial high DPS. Building a champion's whose entire function is based around that kinda Attack timers via catching them back, means you need to give that champion ways to enable their optimal damage, as opposed to Aphelios, who has no ways to enable that optimal damage outside of maybe his Root, or getting a major ult where your Chakram becomes more ranged burst than DPS.

It'd be difficult for sure, not impossible, but I'm just kinda scared of making another Kallista against Melee champions. Maybe it's the opposite end of the spectrum, where the chakram is still based on attack timers based on catching them, but you mean to stay farther back and use your abilities to manipulate the in air Chakram when you throw it.

Well, Talon is what the chakrams are for an assassin. Sivir is for an adc

RadeticDraws12/20/2019, 10:16:40 AM1 votes

Well tbh he is a new adc and seeing how many people complain about chakrams he at least has a limited time to use them.

Well his Pistol Q is basically alternative version of Urgot W in the gameplay of "rapidly shooting while being able to move", so why not.
