Real Talk: Why do we call the map Summoner's Rift...
...If summoners are no longer a thing?
...If summoners are no longer a thing?
Summoners ARE real. They're YOU. When Riot retconned Summoners, they retconned the ones that appear in the lore. WE are still summoners, but we live in the alternate reality where we summon images of these champions from the lore to do battle with limited capabilities, just like how Baron is only a tiny version of the real thing. This is why literal gods like Aurelion Sol are so middling in comparison to their lore counterparts.
You are the summoner. You have the power.
Ummm no. The game is a what of situation.
The name is just iconic.
Also Asol is a star dragon not a god. He's not a god teir being. Zoe is technically more powerful just not in raw strength, as is bard. And his physical size is not that big tbh. I meam its huge but we do have a sense of scale and its not to the extent that most people think.

When you can create literal stars, you're a god. No ifs, ands or buts. I don't think I need to get into how powerful stars are. Also, a what if and an alternate universe are synonymous.
Except no. Riot has even said Aurelion Sol is not on the god level. asol's siblings can create stars too. He is not a god.
And a what if is a hypothetical scenario, not nessecarily a whole other universe.

If you were to drop a literal fucking star right on the rift, the rift wouldn't exist anymore. Just because A Sol doesn't fall into the category of god doesn't mean the ability to create stars is not inherently a god like ability.
Also, multiuniverse theory supports that for every decision that gets made, another universe, a "what if" universe is made, where you didn't make that decision, or decided on something else.
Its not a godlike ability in LoL its very powerful, and fyi no, the stars arent that big when first made they're roughly 18 feet tall.

I don't know if you understand how real stars work, but if Aurelion can create them, that is a massive display of power. It takes HUGE amounts of mass, and on top of that (and as a result of it as well), huge amounts of gravity to ignite, and then sustain a star. I don't want to hear that a star starts out 18 feet tall, that's bullshit and you know it. The core of a star dwarfs the earth several times.
And even if the star was only 18 feet tall (which is an arbitrary number to begin with, what dark part of your ass did you pull it out of?), the way luminosity works, the smaller and brighter an object is, the more energy output it has. If his stars are only 18 feet, and he's made one that can brightly light the entire world that Summoner's rift is on, the energy output for it would be stupid, ESPECIALLY if it were created on the rift.
Don't fyi me on shit about space, I will fucking kick your ass to Antares and back on stuff about stars.
He creates baby stars dude.
And the height is from actual numbers. In his teaser the baby star he makes is twice the size of a Targonian spear, which are about 1.5 times panth height which is about 6 feet.
6 * 1.5 * 2 = 18
This is a fantasy universe where stars are made by a race of celestial dragons. Stars aren't held to the same size limitations. The one that lights up summoners is millenia old. He gets them started then lets them grow on their own. He's like a gardener.
A while back (years ago) they said that summoners will be making a return soon™
That's where champions are summoned according to the old lore. Summoers also belong to the "league" of legends. I don't think they will change the name of the map or the game of the game.
...If summoners are no longer a thing?
its the one thing about league thats too iconic to retcon. Summoners rift is a seprate dimension from runeterra if we are to go by current lore. its still possible to go there, especially if you are a champ like zoe, but how they get summoned is a mystery.
The name is iconic and there's no reason to change a hypothetical are where famous people of a fantasy world fight in a what if situation.
