Keys Are Far Too Uncommon

S ranks are easy to get...but keys fragments are more rare than Rare Gems...

Yes, I am aware that the key drop rate resets each month. I have yet to get a fragment this month despite this.

stuffs free. would you rather go back to nothing?

No but with all of the listed limitations for getting chests. There is an expectation that Chests will be a lot rarer. Then, getting 4 chests per month, then 1 key per month is an awakening of sorts. That being said it is free and it is nice! however, it is a bit frustrating :P

It's cause they are pretty much saying "Here's a chest, now to open it spent 125 RP"

Basically the crates in Team Fortress 2, except you don't have to buy them.

Though being able to trade shards with other players would be a nice touch.

and then the one chest you can open contains a champion when you already have all the champions...

its basically nothing. originally i read that key droprates are supposed to reset each week, which would have been fine, but once a month will probably make it impossible to open them all.

at least they could let us buy those key with ip.

Chests were supposed to partially alleviate the frustratingly slow champ unlock system Riot has compared to pretty much every other similar game on the market. As people learn Riot's work to reduce that pain point was all flash and no substance, designed more to pull in money from gambling addicts than make it easier to unlock champs and skins, they are more likely to just move on to a different game that cares more about their players.

No, I'm just doing my part by giving constructive feedback on how well I feel Riot's well thought-out system works.

People who complain about free shit should try paying for things.

I would assume a lot of people on here have paid money on this game. Compared to most other style games like this riot's champs are very expensive both in ip and rp. Most of their skins are a fortune to buy and all of them are restricted to rp, which the only way to get is paying money.

I don't spend a lot of money on league but every once in a while I spend some to support riot because I have played the game for so long but when I spend some I am amazed with how little it gets me. Ill use smite as an example I spent the $30 on that game and it unlocked EVERY character both current and future. There are also skins I can buy with their ip style currency and just for logging on consecutive days I get some of their rp style currency after 5-6 days. Riot so rarely puts a sale on RP that its painful, and their skins on sale are so few you are pretty much going to be waiting a year if there is a skin you would really want.

Its nice that they are finally trying to give us a way to get skins without spending $ on them. However making it as impossible as it is to get just makes it frustrating to even have it. I know it seems like people are complaining about free things, but I would imagine most people that have been playing this game for over a year have spent some money on it. People playing as long as I have are probably in the hundreds easily which is a lot of money for a game and also has made riot into the gigantic company they are now. They used to do rewards for contests and free skins for promotions that I know of they don't do any of that anymore.

You're playing for free! All the necessities are free, only cosmetic items need to be bought.

youre paying with time youre investing into the game. and its not exactly free stuff if youre not actually getting it without having to spend rp to open them. its more like bait.

Find and play a game that's completely free then... or you can understand that Riot is a business and deserves to make money!

Kempachi Taichou1 votes

According to you there is no such thing, because your free time is equivalent to money...

Tarrtarr1 votes

Its not free if I can never actually open them. With a couple hours a day played you should be able to open the 4 you get a month or else wtf is the point. Asking more then a 8 or so hours a week is asking a lot. What is the point if the average person can get more chests then keys? Like someone else said its bait so you will buy the keys with rp.

I understand the game is free to play, like I said ive also spent money on the game as I would assume from the games I play and the amount of skins out there so has at least 75% of the players. If they were going to make a system to earn things without spending money then it should actually be attainable for people that don't play games for a living.

Last fragment I got took me 10 wins to get, that means I probably played 20 games to get it at about 25mins a game. For even numbers say it was 30mins per game and I spent 10 hrs to get 1 key FRAGMENT now I need 3 of those to get one KEY. That means I need to play for 30 hours to get one key. That's sounds like 75% of an average work week for most people, or around 4 hours a day.

I appreciate them offering alternate ways to earn skins and such but it requires at least 3 chests to unlock one skin. You can only get 4 per month or 48 chests per year if you don't miss a single one. So in a year you can get la max of 16 skins in a perfect world but the way these keys are going already id be lucky to get 3.

I've invested a fair amount of money. I'm not complaining, just doing my part (which Riot asked I do) to make League of Legends a better game.

Giving feedback on their new, and very well designed system is one way that I can help Riot.

Grashnim1 votes

Suggest solutions. Based on the complaints, I wish Riot would make stuff drop more often, but make it harder to obtain full sets to open stuff. This would make it seem like people are getting more.

However, when the debate comes to "I want more free shit," very few people will decline. As such, the system is probably not an easy win.

PalPlays1 votes

I believe that the solution would be that additional S ranks for a champion beyond the first grant key fragments.

Tarrtarr1 votes

or an increased chance. Ive said the same thing gives you a reason to play a champ you already got an S ranking on.

Or the other alternative is allow the purchase of keys for ip, like 4800 per key is still a decent sum to pay but make it so you can still only earn 4 per month. Or make key fragments for 1350 or something. As long as you cant get more then4 keys total per month buying them with ip would just allow you to use ip for something different without changing the total chests per month that can be opened.

Hextech Crafting hasn't been out a month, so your drop rate can't possibly have reset yet. It's based on when you first get a key fragment, not every calendar month.

PalPlays1 votes

Oh, really? I thought it was at the beginning of every month. Thanks for the intel!
