I doubt he is an adc main considering our adc was autofilled to bot. Our entire team was likely combinations of mid/top/jg. They played their roles like they should even with autofill which is great, but still I see mid lane mages starting dorans ring in bot lane just because they refuse to truly support

Even if you want to be a "Mage sent bot lane", going frost fang first is still better.

Agreed, spellthief's is if you're greedy and want gold for yourself, doran's is if you want to support and have that extra bit of laning power to win lane for your adc.

Spellthief's is way too much value to take doran's over it though.

wrong, in old system you would declare what you could play and chances are your teammates would try to give you a role you could play

in this system they auto fill and don't even double check if the most people get the intended role they want

whoever coded this should honestly be fired for such lazy matchmaking coding

Ya it's ridiculous. It prefers to autofill over putting people in their secondary roles. It's often possible to have a team made up without autofill at all, using the secondary roles, but the system doesn't do it
