My ideas for Riven [Opinions welcome]

  1. A problem of hers is the mobility. It is TOO consistent and therefore, toxic to the game because it disables [most] chances of actually catching an attentive Riven both off-guard and on-guard while allowing her to chase down foes and breach the frontlines of enemies like a Vayne on roids. [minus the breaching frontlines part]

To solve this, I thought of a "Stamina" resource bar. It is a bar for champions such as Riven and Garen who have no resource bars. This bar will be a 10-12 second timer after an ability is used. Once the timer runs out, all the champions abilities go on cooldown for X amount of time. (Let's say half of the timer, so if it's 12 then 6 seconds) Of course, people with this will have lower cooldowns than the average champion. It's similar to Heat [Rumble] in a sense, however, it doesn't give them bonuses, and they do not have to spam abilities to increase it. The timer starts the second they use an ability.

I believe this would actually add more skill to her because you need to focus on your stamina. You can't just faceroll buttons and expect a clear outcome with you on top. You need to make harder decisions instead of "Click R, spam Q W E in any order." Decisions such as deciding whether to trade or not, because now with this you're no longer insanely overpowered in both a burst-off and a sustained fight. If you try to spam your abilities, your Q can go on cooldown mid-way. Things such as that.

  1. I believe there should be a change in her ultimate to make her more skill based. (Aside from the fact, to be a SUPERRR good Riven player you need to animation cancel).

My pitch is this: Instead of having it scale the lower the enemies health is, make it so when it is activated -- the damage is increased with each ability afterwards that hits an enemy champion(s). This makes is so Riven's actually have to HIT their abilities, instead of missing a whole combo and destroying half of the enemy team with just her R. It's harder to make the damage stronger, but if you're able to hit multiple enemy champions with multiple abilities, it is worth it for Riven.

^ This idea will go perfectly with the stamina resource bar I made above. It will make her ultimate more skill based, while preventing it from being overpowered if she manages to constantly hit abilities on enemy champions over her ultimate time duration.

I hope I can get opinions on this.

The problem with Riven is most CC's that will lock her down aren't very long range. "I've got this Riven guys let me just get a little bit closer. Oh... she Q'd 2 times and E'd she is now 3 screens away." So yeah her mobility is an massive issue but I don't know how you could change or fix that without making her trash.

Low elo support main post, downvote and move on.

I'm a top/mid main. Nice try though.

And you also play Riven, with an astonishing 33% winrate. She's clearly overpowered and needs immediate nerfs, according to all low elo's with their 20-30% Riven winrates.

You're rather all-knowing aren't you? Because you're right yet wrong. I'm not a hardcore Riven player. I don't play Riven top lane, I play her when I'm just fucking around because I love the mobility on her. I've never tried to play her seriously. Learn things before you make assumptions. Thanks.

Maybe. Though having your combo stopped mid-way kinda sucks and makes the champion feel clunky to play.

Also, I don't believe that Riven players can just spam their abilities to win lane. It's much harder than that. Boxbox has posted several videos on Riven combos which requires using the right abilities at the right time and not just mindlessly spamming your abilities.

The only reason why players tend to complain about Riven is because her winning lane is mostly decided on the matchup. Riven either dominates her matchups such as Gnar, or becomes completely crapped on by champions such as Pantheon or Irelia. When your matchup is at your disadvantage, you feel like you can do nothing against Riven. The other way around where Riven is in a losing matcup, and that's where Riven's toxicity arises.
