He's easily kited and
exists. He has a fine kit, but also has no personality as a champ and his rework removed all charm he once had, and the kit isn't exciting enough to make up for it.
He is just outclassed right now and people dont want to play things that arn't top of the top. He is one of my go to junglers still along with
not enough tank stats to steal.
Pretty much exactly this. As I've said before, his ult's only as good as the tankiest enemy champion, and in this ultra-killfast assassin meta, that's a rarity. Otherwise, his ult's pretty useless for its intended purpose, which is to steal the enemy's health and endurance and pummel them back to the stone age. Kites are an easy thing to remedy (you know, if someone on the rest of the team actually has crowd control), but you can't remedy something the enemy team simply doesn't have.

Leona is the sixth most played champion in the game, more than any assassin. There's a tank in almost every game. Also, most would say the assassin meta is over. Most would say we are in a tank meta right now.
In my experience (call it anecdotal), I'm usually the only one who dares to be a tank. Most everyone else wants to be an all-in, all damage champion, if not an assassin outright.
Which is great because tanks are boring as fuck, and most tanks aren't even tanks they are tanky assassins. Tanks shouldnt be chunking you for 60% of your HP or straight out destroying you.
I know this post was 5th months ago but what meta have you been playing? As far as i'm concerned the META is this
-Pick tanks -Win -GG
Trundle is very specialized, so you're more likely to see him in Draft Mode than in Blind Pick. But to make it more clear, here are some pros and cons for Trundle.
#Pros
#Cons
Essentially, you want Trundle in compositions where there are 2 or more enemy tanks, but not against highly mobile compositions with good disengage. For instance, if the enemy Support is Leona, Trundle is good; if the enemy Support is Janna, Trundle is a terrible choice.
Trundle is not as attractively adorable as
!
Also, might be because many people have decided to Trundle along outside, and Trundle skip drag the leg skip practice to help own champion empathy as configuring Trundle time travel concludes.

Dude don't let the bs what others write disturb you.
Trundle is good, he is strong, he is viable even in competitive.
The reason why you don't see him picked 24/7 is 1 simple thing: he is boring as f*ck to play.
i personally like trundle and i ahve mastered him he is really strong and does a lot of damage and his recent change to the knock back on his e and the newest change on his ult he is very well and throws people off cause no one really plays him
trundles beast mode... ur missing hydra in his build...i think it serves his purpose better than the mallet
so swich blade ruined king for hydra
^yup
I liked playing him, landing a wall snare with e is so op, but really there are better choices unfortunatly
he's good if there only 1 tank on the enemy team. if they have 2 or 3 though, his value diminishes quickly
Key word is "late game". If he doesn't get fed and snowball, or if the game isn't delayed long enough for him to farm, late game scalers don't provide a lot to a team. Plus his kit isn't "flashy", so he gets overlooked.

I wouldn't even say he is a lategame champ, more midgame. Usually a trundles only offensive item is Botrk. By mid game if you are ahead with that and a defensive item or two you can wreck. by late game youre mostly just there to ult a tank
Trundle is picked to counter tanks; adc's were updated recently and most of them shit all over tanks with their updates + all the armor pen items. Tanks are not being picked, so trundle is not being picked.

Well would you look at that. Top five picks consist of a heavy bruiser, a somewhat less heavy bruiser, a juggernaut, and a full tank. Just below that is Mundo, who also builds full tank.
Tanks and heavy bruisers are doing great right now. The new Last Whisper is objectively worse than the old one when used on anyone who isn't stacking an absurd amount of bonus armour.
