A way to make DFT Feel viable and to Be good

I have been testing http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/7/71/Deathfire_Touch_mastery_2016.png/revision/latest?cb=20151103094525 on multiple champs and I feel that due to it's nature it should be tweaked a bit to feel and be more viable (the two things are different I must say). And it is a good moment because recently Warlord's was tweaked. NOTE: that it is viable in most mages, but the ticks of damage deal low damage and it feels bad (even if the damage is actually good), this change s meant to correct that without chaging the damage capacity of the mastery.

#Feel: It's low damage ticks are (psychologically speaking) dissapointing, even with full magic pen or full ratios both early and late they feel lame. A way to solve it is to make it sum up the numbers in the way Darius bleed, GP passive Trial of Fire and other DPS sum up their numbers, of course the ideal way to do so would be to make it with small sized numbers. This is now specially true because it deals damage each 0.50 seconds, 1 damage for each 0.50 seconds, it is really low and some times it deals 0 damage. It would also be more rewarding if you constantly re-apply it. **NOTE: **This is only about the display of the damage and doesn't modify the damage itself of the mastery.

#Be: It is** DEATH**fire Touch, it should reward you somehow when you apply it on enemies that are low in life: how? When Deathfire Touch is applied upon enemies with less than 20% of their max life it is applied with it's full duration (except in DoT abilities) and deals true damage. NOTE: that it's ratios are not touched, and Im only changing the way in which DFT is being applied, it would specially benefit it's AD users that do not build magic pen.

Vlad malzahar and a free others would be broken...

It's viable. Just not on every champion.

How would it be broken?

The first suggestion is just about the display; It allows you to see how much damage your DFT is actually dealing.

The second doesn't modify the amount of damage but the way it is dealt and only does proc when the enemy is below 20% of their max life.

You've never seen a vlad with DFT.....

When Deathfire Touch is applied upon enemies with less than 20% of their max life it is applied with it's full duration (except in DoT abilities) and deals true damage.

THIS WOULD BREAK HIM!

Define break? DFT scales into the late game, it's base damage is hell low, it could assure killings, and also Vlad stacks magic pen to heck so it would make little to no difference in the moment of applying it against squishies, it is more targeted towards AD champs because it doesn't change the ratios at all. And if you are with less than 20% of your max life and get hit by an ability you should be killed (most of the times), consider it is also a DoT and allows the enemy to have time to repply.

yeah...no... sorry. I don't feel that DFT is weak. I play most of the mages with DFT (I rarely use thunderlord) and I'm satisfied with that since i'm always first in damages. It's a lot more op if you can manage to affect multiple people in a teamfight. Sometimes, I have that nice feeling when the target dies because of that dot...priceless

I use it sometimes as a Support Teemo

Max Q first... W second.. (E is useless)

Build Full Ap/Penetration/support items. item 3092 item 3151 item 3135 item 3020 item 2045 item 3089 item 3364

2 shot their carry with your mushrooms item 3070 KogMaw item 3070

And you're good..

Fun Fact: Because Mushrooms are an AOE as well as a DOT... Deathfire touch procs... 2 times.... on the mushrooms.

Don't believe me? try it out... you'll see it flash around you twice when people hit a mushroom. This is a benefit because you can look at the map and notice which mushroom they hit, and where. VISION OP

I know man xD

Im not saying it isn't viable, Im saying it doesnt feel that way.

Causing the damage of the ticks to sum up and display the damage properly allows the player to know how much damage it's DFT actually added to it's combo.

Causing DFT to have an special effect on near-to-die targets causes it to be A LOT more rewarding to use, and allowing it to deal true damage eliminates the barrier of efficiency between AD and AP users (and the need to build magic pen) at least only when it is applied on targets that should be near to die.

Someone once suggested that Dot damage should be highlighted on the affected person's health bar in like an Orangy yellow. and it'd be kinda cool to see someone's whole heath bar turn orange.. xD

and it would also give the person some way to fight back..

Yeap xD, but I mean the change is only meant for the user, it shows the damage the mastery actually deals to a target, because being honest, magic resist takes a lot of the damage of this mastery out of the table, and the low numbers feel dissapointing.

IKR? but this change is only meant to do two things:

  1. Display the damage DFT does properly.
  2. Reward you for applying it on enemies with low life (it does a difference against tanks). But u are right in something, it would be OP in long DoT sustained champs (only against champs with less than 20% of their health of course), so I changed the suggestion to reflect this reality.

It is already viable on most mages due to magic pen, but I mean 1 thing, it could be viable on AD champs (AD casters) and even some tank-bruisers if these changes are applied.

but why? why would you need a reward for applying it on someone who is going to die. I don't get that concept of "reward" for everything you do. Sometimes, just do what you have to do. no need for rewards. that would be unbalanced like hell. more toxic than brand's dot on tank. I use it on ad casters to. But it's more like an extra damage. Just look at it in the other side. If your opponent build armor, your dft will inflict more damages! :p

I despise people that use thunder on a Mage (except Ad malz)
