Officially on board with yasuo nerfs

Disclaimer: I don't hate yasuo's champion design, but key abilities are overtuned and (sorry to use a buzzword) overpowered. I wasn't a believer but the skill level required to execute most of what he does is too low for the damage output and survivability.

Yasuo, for the most part, falls into a file of champions that no one part of their kit is explicitly strong, but the blend of abilities he's given is too powerful put together. What's far more annoying is that each ability is still strong on it's own, just not game breaking. The shield of his passive, q, e, and r are all very well designed abilities that I don't generally have a problem with. They're really the core of yasuo' kit and are his fundamental play style and to say they should be gutted would be childish. What I think the community really hates is the fact that he gets an insanely strong double passive and the ability to block off an entire champions kit for almost 4 seconds. 3.75 seconds of dps from marksmen, a full rotation from mages, and ticks and tacks from the rest of the cast (abilities which are important to a champions kit but aren't a majority of their dps) all blocked from an instant casting ability that forces ranged champions into bad positioning if they want to do anything within a teamfight. His double crit's true power comes in two ways a) His powerspikes come sooner and much stronger than any other champion in the game. 40% crit chance for 1200g is too efficient, and everyone and their mother has complained about full crit after 2 items. But for me idrc about his early crit powerspike. I hate it more because of b) He gets an extra item slot. With the double crit chance he's given a full extra item slot. A lot of people complain about how yasuo is overtuned and of course, can you imagine how powerful most champions could be if they were given the same privileges as yasuo when it comes to itemization?! I think a lot less people would be complaining about yasuo if they had an extra item to work with, because it's probably the biggest advantage yasuo gets.

So what would be the most appropriate nerf? Because going on a rant is stupid if you don't propose a solution. Well, not much really. I know I spent a lot of time talking about the double crit but I don't think that's what should be changed really. I said he got 2 passives that'd be good on their own but what of the other one?

a) Nerf his shield passive. Straightforward. Yasuo shouldn't be given any special treatments in regards what tools he's given. If he gets double crit chance to buff him during mid-late game, then he shouldn't ALSO receive early game protection as well in addition to being able to survive last tick of ignite because it refreshes on ult which, imo, is a big reason you see yasuos come back after going 0/3 in lane.

Or

b) Nerf crit passive. There are 2 ways to do this. Nerf the bonus crit chance or nerf the crit damage or give him the kalista treatment. Crit damage itself is already down by 25% so that's probably not the best pick. Nerfing the bonus crit so he gets 1.5x his crit chance instead of 2x is appealing. And giving him the kalista treatment so his autos deal less damage inherently might be a little extreme (and riot would never nerf yasuo significantly.) So if i were to make a descision I would nerf the bonus crit. It would focus the power scaling on mid game rather than late game so he would have to get a 3rd item to reach 90% crit, which is still insanely better than any adc has to deal with. You could play with the number so he gets 1.75x bonus crit, etc. But the main goal here is so he doesn't get multiple free item slots because of a poorly designed passive. (little ranty but seriously, who went into the backroom and thought that giving any champion double crit chance was a good idea?)

c) Nerf the duration of his passive or make the duration scale with level or reduce its width. Champions shouldn't be zoned out of teamfights for nearly 4 seconds when that's enough time for yasuo to kill on person and half the hp bar of another.

d) Reduce the range on his q. This is more of a reference to his laning phase. Long range poke on the first 2 casts of Q. I encourage anyone who hasn't already to go into practice mode and see how far away from a practice dummy you can stand and still hit it with a q. It really doesn't take much more than seeing the max range to be able to say that it should be nerfed.

e) Remove the ad scaling from his e. It's a low cooldown spell that gives him tons of mobility. It should really deal damage.

You can mix and match some of these ideas. But really yasuo should be nerfed without compensation. Overloaded kit that doesn't take THAT much skill to play at a competent level. Not saying it isn't hard at all, but it isn't as hard as yasuo mains sometimes thinks it is. Plus balancing for skill is a story for another post, which I would love to make if people find this one productive.

Bro did you play against Yasuo when he came out or six months after? I dont Think Yasuo is overpowered at all. The skill level you requires to play him in a decent maner is high and no his mechanics are tricky. He is fine the way he is. I still remember those 1000 damage Qs, One Q and one auto and an Adc went to the gray screen. Now that was OP. He is a fun champ to play just not my personal favorite. I have played against him fine won and lost thinking he is annoying to lane against... But then again so is Shaco, Zed, and Lee Sin.

Well from my own expierence, Yasuo isn't that difficult at all to play. Legit everytime I have hands on him I carry with a score most likely above 7. And only once I have went negative from what I can remember. I just don't play him since I don't find him fun at all.
