Rewarding the Warding

Dear Riot,

(there is a tl'dr at the bottom for those who don't want to hear my intro)

I love your game. I've been playing for over four years and have continually bought RP to help fund this incredible game. I remember having no idea what a meta was and taking Soraka top lane and Q'ing people to death and taking Urgot (my first bought champ) midlane just so I could suppress someone under my tower. I remember thinking "omg Jungle is another lane??" so I bought Yi and got really angry his alpha strike made him "invisible" haha. Love having these memories.

And then I remember learning support. I'd buy a philo stone and nothing but wards the whole game. I'd play Janna and just zoom around the map to give vision. I thought they were the best thing since Betty White! And then.. and then.. I remember finding myself in a game against a much better support Leona who would murder my wards, jump onto my face and people screamed at me to ward. I stopped supporting for awhile, then I left the game because at level 30 people were so angry and frustrated at losing =(

Then you gave us sightstone! Yay! And we had the Lissandra release and that was really exciting so I came back!

Is it enough? Not always =( Even with free wards, people on my team hate warding. They can't always buy a ward when they need to finish a defensive item against that out of control Darius or the ever brutal LeBlanc. It can be tricky, too, when the enemy team pounces you in the jungle and suddenly they have vision control there, too. I think we need to get a handle on the warding situation. **Humans THRIVE on reward... so let's give some rewards for doing one thing people hate doing! **

TLDR: Need stronger warding rewards Suggestions:

  1. Give a person 2 gold per ward dropped EDIT: For non-sightstone wards or trinkets ie 75g Stealth and 100g Vision
  2. If the ward gets swept , reset the trinket CD edit: Or lower the cd?
  3. If the ward gets swept, give the person x-amount of gold to help fund for a new one. If the sweeper gets gold why not the person who dropped it? EDIT: Only applicable to Stealth and Vision Wards (not sightstone or trinket wards )
  4. Give one extra slot in our bars where only sightwards can go- when the game carries on, we need that extra place for another item, usually defensive -eidt: I see this could be an issue with non-supports
  5. Up the timer on trinkets.~~ When the ward disappears we should be able to drop it again within 20-30 seconds.~~ They should be able to last slightly longer.

This is a team game and since we don't have voice chat in game_ vision and pings are our only communication_.

Thank you again for the great game.

If you get anything for having a ward swept, it ruins the point d the sweeping lens, you sweep a ward, sorry it's back and you have a useless trinket

Okay, and the other suggestions? Or you only had an opinion on 1 of the 5?

I think rewarding warding with gold (even minuscule) would encourage people to plant wards in useless spots.

But that's better than never warding.

if a ward is swept it ruins the point of sweeping lens and if your ward gets swept and you get the cd on your ward back then why upgrade the ward in the first place if you will have it off cd a good bit because wards get swept all the time. Why would we want to sweep a ward just to give the other team gold? thats just stupid. For the give 2 gold for each ward placed why not just buy a sight stone and just sit in base for 10 min just spaming wards until you have full build. The warding thing is not a problem in high elo play its a problem in low elo for a reason they are not good at the game they dont understand when to buy wards or where to place them. Riot does not change the game around bronze or silver they do it around all elos and because it is just a problem for bad players it does not need to change.

I disagree heavily with all points but the third point. Getting two gold for dropping a ward would actually make for a funny interaction with Sightstone; sit in base spamming wards for profit. While that can be fixed, I still disagree with normal wards returning gold on placement. If anything, in regards to the second point, this is a heavy punishment for poor and predictable warding. Item management is very important; if you want a slot for wards, then buy a Sightstone...it gives HP. On the final point, trinket DURATION does go up when you hit level 9. Trinkets were never meant to be a ward replacement anyway; they are just there to help relieve pressure in the early game.

I only very hesitantly agree with the third. If a ward is swept, it does feel like a gold dump; I can see how refunding a small amount of the gold (though not even close to the cost of one...maybe 5-10 gold) would be healthy. However, I have another proposal for you. If a sweeper trinket does not hit any wards, then the CD of the trinket should go down by 10-15 seconds; it's not denying anything from a misfire.

Or we could leave it as it is and the people who are actually good at warding and sweeping and value vision will be better than thous who don't

Yeah its fine because it focres people to learn that warding and vison is important by it being the difference between winning and losing the reward is you being a better player and winning more games and until a person learns that then they deserve to be at a lower level of play
