3/25 PBE Update

Dear Riot,

I noticed that you want to go ahead with updating Karma's splash art, but the ones here: http://www.surrenderat20.net/2016/03/325-pbe-update.html are in terrible taste.

Sun Goddess Karma US: http://www.leagueoflegendsskins.com/images/champions/splash/Karma_1.jpg

Notice the beautiful colours in remaining true to Incan/Mayan colour palettes, how the dress flows properly and is in proportion with itself.

China: This is the "updated" piece of art: http://img1.leaguecraft.com/lol-splash-art/asset/wallpaper_760px_7392.jpg - Her face is white, her eyes are done in heavy, awkward makeup, her dress isn't really a dress? It's like a nylon butt-holder that flares, and what is going on with the metal chest thing hanging down from a flimsy cloth holding her breasts?

Nevermind, both are crap. The US version doesn't even have any Cherry Blossoms and she's wearing gothic eye makeup. The China version is just... awkward looking and on-purpose refuses to make actual cherry blossoms. So really that one I don't really care... Even though I own every Karma skin, including Traditional.

Not to mention Safari Caitlyn who doesn't even look like a Steampunk version of her British roots... She looks like Laura Craft with a crappy hat :(

But hey, great job with Dynasty Ahri.. no longer will she look like an old woman!

You're updating splash art to appease your new money grabber seems really petty :( I'm glad you found a way to make more money, but why at the expense of artistic integrity? I thought things were going in a better direction but... ugh.

While the current splash arts are still not real representations of the in-game models, the Chinese ones are even less close to the in-game models.

For all those wondering, here are the Chinese splashes compared to what they are planning to use. Notice the small difference in skincolor and eyes.

My main problem with those isn't the looks, but that Riot said:

splash art is one of most important tools we have for conveying a champion's fantasy and personality in League

Yet they push Karma's fans in the complete center of the image. But neither Karma's fantasy nor personality include her fans anymore. Either Karma's gameplay fails, or her splashart. There is just no getting around this.

I thought they were making NEW splash arts but were using the Chinese as fill-ins. Either way I'm fine with both renditions of her splashes. I'm just glad she is getting attention. If anything, I think the Chinese splashes look more aesthetically pleasing but takes away from the core pieces of her old, natural art.

I don't care if this gets downvoted the chinese splasharts look so much better and have a nice feel to them, of course this is not for every splash but if they changed the na karma splash on these selected ones to the chinese ones i wouldnt mind i be happy actually they look so much nicer.

I've posted on two or three other threads too, but this is another one devoted solely to Karma so I have to chime in. Please Riot. Please don't change these. At least not to those colour-vomit monstrosities.

Just realized that they changed Karma from being sort of black or native american to white/asian....

That is horrible Riot! What's next? Echo, Nidalee, and Lucian are all going to turn white/asian too????!!!!!

Welp, I forget that Riot is owned by a Chinese company. They're probably just following their master's orders.

Does it matter? NONE OF THE SPLASHES besides Warden and Order of the Lotus are accurate representations of her in-game model.

Artistically, the Chinese ones are good. It's just that they don't fit in stylistically with the art direction of LoL in general. Which would make them pretty jarring to see in the loading screen.

I think that (aside from whiteface) the Sakura Karma splash is WORLDS better. I actually changed my splash to the Chinese one ages ago because of my supreme hatred of the Sakura Karma US splash.

Sun goddess karma splash need to be updated to match her tits foe the in game model. Sun goddess karma 8n game has some of the best tits.

The versions currently on the PBE are not the same as what you've posted. If you care to take a look, the PBE ones got rid of the whiteface.

So wait? Who gives a damn that they match across servers? That required this change? And why are they basically all the Chinese ones rather than whichever one is best for the particular skin? Just because the company who bought them is Chinese? Why would they care what NA players look at anyway?

Honestly, I'm leaning towards the Chinese splashes, I've always loved their style and even though it doesnt fit the real in-game look too well, I hate that awkward art style that old US splashes have like the ones in these karma splashes.

Not true at all, but you didn't read what I said about the Sakura Karma did you? It's bad. I own all the Karma skins, I like to flip through them. Sun Goddess NA is better, I'm not sure what points you could make to show that the Chinese one is better.

You havent made any points also all you said was you flip through them you like them, the sun goddess chinese splash looks more fuid and has nice coloring to it and the temple looks more amazing the Na sun goddess looks pretty old and has a plain feel to it no fantasy at all which is why i prefer the chinese one as you see her moving the wind with her fans

Sakura Karma the chinese version looks more like what i would imagine if i just heard the name of that skin, the sakura tree in the background is pretty nice aswell not to mention the splash itself her posing in a way that shes ready to fight. The Na version is just karma standing firm the splashes background is not really bringing anything to light and its just karma.

some of the na splashes deserve the chinese adjustment sorry

They might be? Usually "soon" in game-dev is anywhere form 6 months- 3yrs, so I don't know when those are coming. I think they need to look at what placeholders they are forcing themselves to use for NA vs China and realize that the Chinese version of Sun Goddess Karma is really bad and I bet the Chinese would appreciate a better looking piece of art.
