Choosing an Undesired Role

Perhaps I'm remembering wrong, or this was scrapped and I just didn't see anything about it, but wasn't there going to be an option to choose one role you absolutely do not want to play? I realize that this could also be problematic as of course so many people would choose support, and at higher ELOs it would devastate queue times, but I simply wanted to know if I was imagining this or if not what the progress was?
