Katarina's ultimate does 50% more then a full rotation of Twisted Fate's kit

Chris Chiaki··27 votes·3,214 views

Assuming lategame build of around 800AP.

Her ultimate 350 / 550 / 750 (+ 250% AP) (+ 375% bonus AD) = 2750 magic damage

Blue card (max dmg) + Q + E proc (doesn't happen all the time) 535 (+ 165% AP) (+ 100% AD) = 1855 magic damage

Wait though Twisted Fate doesn't have resources to manage, nor does he have a safe laning phase, nor can he not be punished for losing lane, he also isn't exceedingly mobile so it's fair right?

Katarina But muh skillcap

TF has a stun, a global reveal, and kat's ult is DOT. I'm not saying Kat doesn't have issues, but she IS an assasin, so it makes sense having higher burst than TF.

Except mages are supposed to have better potential somewhere for dealing with what they have to (being squish, with next to no mobility, high mana costs, and an unsafe laning phase).

Kats ult isn't a DOT it is a channel. you dont cast it then deal damage over time after the channel you deal damage during the channel lol. Edit: What all the downvotes? LOL honestly i knew what he ment it was a joke. Reguardless it IS NOT a DOT it is a channel. a DOT is like malz E once applied it can't be stopped till the duration is completed(unless cleansed/QSSed) on the other hand katarinas ultimate damage CAN BE STOPPED so it isn't a DOT.

You understand what I mean. It doesn't do its damage instantly.

so uh you channel it and it does "Damage Over Time". What Does D.O.T. stand for again refresh my memory....

Um last i checked was W was a DOT. Teemos shroom was a DOT. Teemos poison is a DOT. Ignite is a DOT. Malzhar E is a DOT. Katarinas ultimate isn't a DOT. Why? stop the channel the damage ends. That simple, but a DOT doesn't require a channel to work so technically it isn't a DOT because you take the damage during the cast not over time. Get hit by a any of those others mention? tough luck your sitting through the full damage duration and hope you live.

actualy its quite opposite

assasin term actualy evolwed from a squishy killer to a guy who can hop back and forth in and out of combat to pick vulnerable targets

by that logic their burst should be sub par to a mage, but they should compensate with mobility and capability to awoid enemy retaliation

if we follow that definition ... katarina isnt an assasin she is a heavy burst mage with resets

Llanite7 votes

According to whom?

Assassin is known to be someone who can quickly assassinate a target then escape to safety. By that logic, they should have burst dmg and mobility, at the expense of defense and utility. In contrast, a mage is someone who destroys their target from distance, often have kiting capability via CC and utility of being ranged, at the expense of defense and mobility.

i did read it in some riot post some time ago

in the times where assasins were a more hot topic their current playstyle is toxic ... completly stripped of interaction so they were talking about shifting to other aproach with assasins

your logic describles what we see on live lb katarina zed etc

my post explains what is intended for assasins as a class, more of a future aproach kassadin matches it

But even katarina would be the least safe assassin by that description.

  • Leblanc can revert to her distortion start place after jumping in
  • Zed can revert to his ult starting place or even shadow jump away after going in
  • Fizz has a fairly low cd targeted dash to initiate and a 2 part untargetable jump to either continue the fight or disengage
  • talon has his ult for invisibility and movement speed to possibly escape if he finds his burst isn't strong enough
  • Even akali has her invisibility pool and 2 more charges on her ult after the first that could possibly be used to escape via enemies on the outskirts of the fight

Katarina's only utility besides shunpo, which she uses to engage, is the 1 second duration sub par movement speed increase, which sees a lot of time wasted as she's either stunned after immediately using it, or sitting in her ult because no one stunned her.

Her only way to contribute to a fight is to get a kill/assist as soon as she enters. The rest of the mentioned assassins can usually contribute burst at intervals throughout a fight and, like you said, jump in and out dealing damage until someone is low enough to pick off. Katarina can't do this. She essentially handicaps her team to an extended 4v5 until she can actually start contributing.

If her team is able to just go even in that 4v5, katarina will come in at the end and snowball off of resets. Everyone likes to point this out but no one mentions the much more common scenario: Her team isn't able to compete in the 4v5 and doesn't get the front line low enough or get a catch on the enemy team's carries. This means katarina and her team have to back off and give up objectives/play safe because she wasn't given an opportunity to get a reset, or katarina tries to force a reset by jumping in at an inopportune time without a guaranteed kill and gets CCd and bursted due to having no escape.

But even katarina would be the least safe assassin by that description.

that depends

cartainly she is the strongest her burst is the highest and unlike other assasins she hits multiple targets in a rether wide area her only single target ability is shumpo

but when it comes to safety ... it gets even more complicated

if she shumpos in and kills enemy carry before getting cc'ed she is safe cause there is no such damage that will actualy hurt her anymore ... its not even that important that she can shumpo again

if she doesnt get a reset she is dead

If her team is able to just go even in that 4v5, katarina will come in at the end and snowball off of resets. Everyone likes to point this out but no one mentions the much more common scenario: Her team isn't able to compete in the 4v5 and doesn't get the front line low enough or get a catch on the enemy team's carries. this is something that interests me rather much i hate katarina mainly because she is made like that

she needs hard opportuunities but pulls the most out of them the scenarios you gave are all good, but they are hard to attain and even if enemy team plays their cards right something lucky might still make katarina win the fight

we all know how complaints look people get angry at the fact that its hard to keep up wqth ccing her or that they need to pay too much attention to her alone to be able to fight the rest of her team or that the fights simply happen and they cant deny katarina the possibilities

the problem here is that in league there is little in the means of chance to keep the scenario as clean as you say the game needs to be won and you need to act so while one team cant simply go 4v5 because they have katarina the other cant go 5v4 for the same reason

and once the conflict actualy happens opportunities start appearing everywhere

Katarina has only strategical counterplay (cc is included for people who read... you need to strategicaly manage cc so that you will have it for katarina without getting rolled over in a 4v5, because tank's cc needs to be laid when katarina attacks his carry) but she has barely any interaction that could allow a healthy gameplay

bonfire106 votes

cartainly she is the strongest her burst is the highest and unlike other assasins she hits multiple targets in a rether wide area

The point is that her strength is in AOE damage. She has severely weaker single target damage because her whole damage potential is unlocked from resets. She might have higher overall damage due to having aoe, but that's irrelevant if she can't get that single kill to give her the reset. That's why her single target damage has to be and is capped by reset potential.

so while one team cant simply go 4v5 because they have katarina the other cant go 5v4 for the same reason

The point is the other team doesn't need to force the 5v4, they can take objective and completely control the flow of the game if they play cautiously and don't give katarina openings because the enemy team won't be able to commit to anything. This is especially true considering a kat means they don't have a ranged ap carry for waveclear, which makes towers, along with neutral objectives even easier to pressure without as much fear of retaliation. They don't even need to fight to give katarina that opening for her to go off, but even if they do end up fighting, they're still in a strategically advantageous position (provided obviously we're talking about a relatively even game without either side being fed).

Knight SoIaire 2 votes

cant agree she certainly isnt as fast as other assasins when it comes to single target burst but im preety sure that her is also among the highest even if we wont take her full ultimate channel into account

the only thing that is that lb talon fizz or other bastard will do their combo and score a kill in 1 second or less kata might take 1.5 to kill (which is much longer when we look at the timefram assasins work in)

The point is the other team doesn't need to force the 5v4, they can take objective and completely control the flow of the game if they play cautiously and don't give katarina openings because the enemy team won't be able to commit to anything.

but taking objectives is in itself an opportunity for enemy team

and its not like katarina cant compete to the game without going all in on somebody

as i said its all strategy, can work both ways even if executed propertly

(provided obviously we're talking about a relatively even game without either side being fed)

and the entire strategizing went down the drain

its all weird and unpredictable crap on top of other weird and unpredictable crap fact is that katarina can randomly decimate your team because something happened ... and everyone hates that (besides people who play her ... they notice their limits ... but they dont compare them to otehr champions, every champion has counteprlay but katarinas sucks quality wise)

bonfire105 votes

she certainly isnt as fast as other assasins when it comes to single target burst but im preety sure that her is also among the highest even if we wont take her full ultimate channel into account

I assumed we were talking about her QWE + a maximum of 2 daggers coming out from her ultimate. There's absolutely no reason it should be up for more than 0.5 seconds.

the only thing that is that lb talon fizz or other bastard will do their combo and score a kill in 1 second or less kata might take 1.5 to kill (which is much longer when we look at the timefram assasins work in)

They also have the cc or utility to follow up on those kills if the initial burst fails. Katarina has less initial damage than them, and less followup damage when they escape, supporting the whole "she can't contribute to a fight until someone is already essentially dead" argument.

but taking objectives is in itself an opportunity for enemy team

As I said, even if the enemy team takes that opportunity to engage, it's still a 5v4 + some katarina Qs and will still be in the team of 5's favor. If the team is pushing and gets pulled by a blitzcrank, or a nidalee spear chunks the adc, or a fiddlesticks ults over the wall to flank them, of course they're going to lose. But simply pushing an objective doesn't give the other team that much of an opportunity, the pushing team has to willfully put themselves in danger with no vision control to actually lose that much, which isn't necessary to starve out the other team until they have to leave or contest a disadvantageous fight.

and its not like katarina cant compete to the game without going all in on somebody

She's only contributing ranged Q damage, which is laughable to the front line, even with luden's echo. Not to mention it isn't exactly a long ranged poke, the risk of getting close enough to Q an amumu, or a vi, or a malphite, or a warwick isn't worth the damage.

as i said its all strategy, can work both ways even if executed propertly If one side executes properly and the other doesn't, the side that executed properly will win, I think we can agree on that. What I'm saying is that going off theoretical potential, if both team played completely properly, katarina's team would lose every time, because they do not have the pressure to deal

and the entire strategizing went down the drain

its all weird and unpredictable crap on top of other weird and unpredictable crap fact is that katarina can randomly decimate your team because something happened ... and everyone hates that

every champion has counteprlay but katarinas sucks quality wise

This is the key aspect of why katarina is seen as overpowered by less skilled players and trivial by the best players. Her true counterplay isn't a champion, or a spell, or an item, it's playing perfectly. If you play perfectly, katarina does not do well. It's that simple.

Yes, when katarina is shutdown in lane, she can still comeback and pentakill late game. Yes that can be frustrating, but you let it happen. The reason you didn't actually "shut down" katarina by killing her a few times and denying her cs in lane is katarina's damage even with ks and kills is sub par. Her damage potential isn't optimized by items and levels, it's optimized by resets. And resets are always available and on the table. They're easier to get if fed, but kat is "shutdown" and the enemy team is playing poorly and disregarding her, of course they'll be able to get a reset and unlock more damage.

If you look at this and say "well what's the counter then if shutting her down in lane isn't fully effective?" The answer is to not give her opportunities for resets. This is where the diverge in skill level comes. Not giving her the opportunity for resets shuts kat down whether she's 5-0 or 0-5. Giving her the opportunity for resets snowballs kat, whether she's 0-5 or 5-0. A katarina can almost always be useful against a poorly playing team. A katarina can almost never be useful against a proficiently playing team.

That's why kat players get frustrated when people say she's overpowered when she's one of the only champs that you can shutdown even when fed, purely with good play. Katarina can only do well if her team is obscenely ahead or the enemy team does not play well. Those are the only possible conditions. Katarina can't carry her team against a team that won't give her opportunities for kills.

This is very unique counterplay and very unintuitive. Most people are used to looking at a score and saying "I don't need to worry about that champion, they're 0-5" or "Wow that champion is going to be a huge impact, they're 5-0". Katarina doesn't handle like that, but as I've mentioned several times, that's a double-edged sword.

Snowballing from behind or getting shut down while fed are both realistic outcomes for katarina, unlike a majority of champions. People just only like to focus on the 0-5 comebacks and shout OP, and claim the 5-0 shutdowns were because the katarina player was clearly just bad and couldn't carry their team. Both scenarios exist, but you better believe the lower skilled players make a bigger deal out of one more than the other.

well here our opinions differ i think you can win any game as long as you play it good

every enemy that is fed is stoppable every strategy has it flaws you can exploit

but katarina is limited only to that while other champions have holes outside of that area to back up their so called "counterplay"

bonfire101 votes

I don't disagree that it's present for all champions, just that katarina is balanced specifically around it because her kit is centered around resets. Any champion that's behind can pick up kills and be useful and snowball back into the game, but katarina does it more-so because her damage capability increases with each kill/assist unlike most other champions and still more-so than the others that also have resets. This centralizes her gameplay purely around getting resets, which makes or breaks her imo, to the point where she doesn't have the other holes that other champions do have for counterplay, but she also doesn't benefit as much from being ahead because she's still balanced and damage capped with the possibilities of resets in mind.

ProfDrDeath2 votes

Well, Katarina isn't exactly an assassin, either - unless you define assassin as some different than: "highly mobile champion who can opportunistically take out a single target".

She's not particularily good at bursting a single target, especially with her recent E nerf, but she excels in fights with multiple people. So, she's more akin to a mobile AoE mage than a true, single-target killing assassin.

If he uses his stun he does even less damage. To add, his ult is in fact very good, but it pales in comparison to the sheer damage of Katarina's ultimate. Could-Be-Pentakill in teamfight is usually considered better than a teleport. Plus Katarina has mobility. TF does not. TF is also more focused on a single target at a time than multiple, meaning Katarina is better in team fights and skirmishes. And her damage allows her to also excel in 1v1's even more.

On the other side of the coin, Katarina is resourceless, much more mobile, can take less damage, Resets, ill say it again, RESETS, and that damage he just listed is AOE!.

Kat ult can't hit someone 1000 range away. Kat ult doesn't deal 1855 dmg in 0.3s. Kat ult doesn't stun. Kat can't ult then run and repeat. Kat can't teleport 1/3 the map.

A melee having safer lane phase than someone who can Q 1200 range. Muh, logic.

Vistha Kai2 votes

Then you realize Kat has 3 other abilities.

Lugg1 votes

Kat ult has an effective range of 700 since she always Shunpos in first. Kat's ult does more damage over the course of the ult. Death is the ultimate stun. Kat gets resets. So she can definitely rinse and repeat. Kat can teleport the entire map with summoner 12

And yes, her laning phase is MUCH easier than TFs.

Genuine curiosity- do you think loads of champions are op or do you play devils advocate? I see you a lot, almost as much as myself... >.> You , my friend, you are someone I want to talk to. What's your opinion on Fiora? Derailment unintended ,but I found you again. >.>

Lugg1 votes

While I do believe some champions are definitely OP, I do play devils advocate from time to time. The biggest problem I have with the OP champions is the lack of counterplay. When a champion REQUIRES hard CC to shut them down, that champion is broken IMHO. Not all champs have hard CC, so there needs to be a way that they can at least have a chance to outplay them.

Fiora is an interesting one. She currently has a 69% win rate in Master Tier over the last month. That is ridiculous! Her win rate in all other tiers is 53-54%, which puts her in the top ten.

Here is a great article you should read on her. It pretty much hits it on the head. http://www.nerfplz.com/2014/06/why-is-fiora-good-god-tier-good.html

EvilRabbitt1 votes

To the hard CC: I'd agree to a point. If the majority of someones damage is heavily telegraphed, and takes (game wise) a long time to space in I'd say its legitimate. The idea behind telegraphed abilities is to gate power behind reaction time, see Sion's Q. It hurts if he is full AD, but you have plenty of time to move. Same with his shield. His fire ball was not, and so it got nerfed (along with the claim "we don't want a dragon zombie" or some such). That's why I think Kat is at this moment pretty balanced. A root alone will stop her cold. If she ults, then I can just breathe heavily near her and stop it, stop the resets, and kill her (unless she engaged with her team, in which case she died because she teamfought instead of janitorized). Again, thats my opinion. While Katarina has massive damage, if your team isn't running around stupid low (which, lets be real, any assassin/fighter can pentakill a team of people running around at 30% or lower hp each), she can be stopped with ease. Telegraphed, low range ultimate (lower range than Ahri's W/R...that says something on its own), that takes 3 seconds to fire off and does 275 (or 250? I forget) .total.. . Annie can annihilate this big, bad assassin without breaking a sweat.

To Fiora: She certainly seems strong, but from what I can see its that people don't really expect her damage. They seem to think that melee= durable, damageless. Especially unknown melees that don't get used much. Its why Sejuani had that humongous win rate spike, people hadn't seen her in ages and suddenly the people who mained her were shrekking. Then everyone played her and she once again becomes powerless due to awareness. Same thing on Fiora, I encounter a lot of lanes where I see someone who should beyond a doubt beat me (like if I was a Riven fighting against Irelia, I deserve to die) but the times they should go in they retreat, and the times they should recuperate they go in.

Will read that article.

Edit: And I did. It summarizes what I see. Highlights when you should have gone in, how you should not have fought, and the point I said myself- nobody knows what the heck she does. Brings my whole philosophy towards winning a match being "The more you know, the less they hurt". =) Thanks for the read. It also brought up a point that's interesting. Hydra/Tiamat- as itself, its kinda broken. It is an item that gives an auto attack reset. That alone is worth a skill slot, not an item. Then it provides aoe, lifesteal, and high ad. So yea. Also, I just totally derailed this thing without intending to- I just want to talk Fiora/mechanics/balance without making a thread like that because it will just fall off and vanish as per usual.

Lugg1 votes

If I have hard CC, Kat isn't much of a problem as long as it isn't on CD. The thing I hate about Kat is what happened in a game I played against her. She was starting to get fed, was probably 4 kills up, and was walking down the river to gank bot who was pushing on tower since the other bot had recalled. I saw this and was ready for her in the bottom river bush and had pinged my bot ADC and Support to jump her. I forget which champ I was on, but I hard CC'd her for like 2 seconds right off the bat and my support CC'd her for another 2 seconds. So a total hard CC of 4 seconds to start the fight. AND WE STILL COULDN"T KILL HER! In fact she killed all 3 of us. That should NEVER happen. So that is where most of my hate for Kat comes from.

Back to another point you brought up about a team running around with 30% health. Let's say your team just won a teamfight and the Kat (or any other assassin pretty much) got away. Which happens all the time due to their high mobility. You now have to recall instead of pushing an objective since the assassin can just ace your team if you don't heal up. Not being able to take an objective after winning a teamfight makes winning the teamfight almost a mute point.

EvilRabbitt1 votes

You can still push, you have to be aware though. Also, if you run around hanging onto life with the skin of your teeth you should not be pushing base objectives. Maybe both of the outer turrets, but not into the base itself (unless you won the teamfight stupid hard and you only lost like 10% hp while fighting low, in which case just whatever and end lol). The only two types of roles that cannot penta (assuming mechanically adept or ready) a team that is 30% or under are Supports and Marksman. True story. I also made a post to some thread saying "the only true meta is the support/adc bot lane" saying that really it wasn't. Yes, having a support/adc bot covers your two weakest by them covering their own strengths. Ironically, putting two bruisers down there and putting a utility mage mid and a really safe adc top (as an example OFC) makes your game turn out in a far more outstanding manner. For example, I recently took Fiora support (totally another conversation as to what a support is) and we won pretty hard. The enemy adc/support had no idea how to properly fight me nor did they expect my damage (because no one plays support), and I dominated lane then I dominated the map. Going totally off point here, but to wrap it up- no single champion as of right now is op in my personal opinion. Yes, some are strong, and some are most definitely not. But, no single champion pick decides a match anymore. LB/Zed/Kat/Akali have all left pick or ban status, so has Sejuani and Amumu. This "tank meta" really is just that for once the defensive stats have caught up to the offensive. Katarina can't just walk in and murder everyone- even in your story, I am more than ready to assume your adc or support was incredibly low. Also, that she did not die meant neither of you built ANY damage and your adc was blind because they did not assist. I agree, that thing happens a lot (It happens when I play fiora, they come to me one at a time and I just rack up a penta) but with any kind of awareness and coordination, no single pick- especially not Katarina- should decide a teamfight.

Sorry for the mega long wall, its worth the read.

Lugg1 votes

That was the problem, we all 3 unloaded on her and she didn't die. I don't think she had a single defensive item either. I was at full health and the adc and supp were at least 70%.

As for champions being OP, I disagree. Annie can single-handedly win a teamfight with a well placed flash/Tibbers stun. Sej can disable and entire team with her ult. Nidalee spear is the most OP ability in the game (and it isn't even an ult!) not to mention her insane mobility. Amumu ult is the same as Sej. Once Jinx buys a BF Sword, no other ADC can trade with her. Irilia and Riven get ANY type of lead, it's usually GG. Ekko will probably never lose a pro game with his current kit and it's teamfight synergy. And I don't even need to say anything about Ryze right now.

The new patch hopefully has nerfed LB and Kat enough that they will be manageable.

EvilRabbitt1 votes

How early was it then? Or how late? And also how fed was she? We are missing incredibly crucial details here. There is no possible way she did that, I know- I played her. Kat is very manageable, LB is just annoying but I have managed to destroy her in lane with things like Riven or Caitlyn because when she jumps on you- she stays there.

And yes Annie can, but there should be no reason you are that grouped. Same with Amumu and Sej. If you see a good ult for clusers, decluster. Simple. If Jinx buys a BF sword, and assuming another adc bought a bf- Corki, Lucian, Kalista. Those 3 outrade Jinx all game long. All-game-long. Ekko is a new release, if he stays as is there will be a problem. I can still play around his kit, but his passive needs to get bumped down to half of what it is.

Nid spear is nid spear. Either you can dodge it, or you cannot.

Lugg1 votes

It was still pretty early. I don't think any towers had fallen yet. I think she was 2-3 kill up on any of us. After she got the triple kill on us, there was literally nothing anyone could do at that point to stop her.

Not clumping is hard to do, even for the pros. You may decide to un-cluster by going left, and your whole team got the same idea. All they really need is to hit 3 or more and the fight is going to be in their favor.

Lucian might be able to do it. Not sure if the other two could.

The problem people aren't seeing with Ekko is this. Yes, you can outplay him 1v1 since you can pretty easily see what he is attempting to do. So people think he isn't OP. However, in teamfights, it is a whole different ballgame. When you are busy trying to counter 5 people, it is extremely hard to keep track of where his ult shadow and W are. Even if you know where they are, the zoning potential alone is enormous. A good Ekko will force your team into bad positions so his team can punish the hell out of you. If you don't get in that bad position, he either stuns your whole team with W, which is an automatic win for his team, or he ults your team, which is also an automatic win for his team. It's a lose/lose proposition any way you go. That is the true power of Ekko.

Nid spear just does WAY too much damage for a CD that short. It does more damage than 75% of the ults in the game. It doesn't matter that it's slow, when you have them coming that often, you are going to get hit.

Solidair37 votes

A. Katarina is a damage assassin, and she'll never get the full channel of her ult onto you B. Twisted Fate is a utility assassin who relies on CC and AOE from afar to get his job done, and additionally his ultimate gives him near unparalleled map control that kat can't have without teleport

P.S. Katarina is a problem, but I'm just saying you're comparing apples and oranges.

cool1656 votes

kat doesn't have a global telepoting ult or cc.

Schenix6 votes

Well, Twisted Fate still deals decent damage. (I wouldn't mind more) But compare their roles in a game.

Twisted Fate is highly based on his team and a good Twisted Fate makes it very hard for other opposing lanes to win theirs. His mid lane matchups aren't too good, but that's because he just isn't a solo carry. He's a huge team player who makes plays both happen, or push them while in motion. Katarina's job is literally to find a window to kill an enemy. She does it by roaming too. TF does it by using his ult AND roaming at times that the opponent think they can make a push. TF is available to end enemy team maneuvers when they happen rather than at the whim of an Assassin who just happens to be there or isn't there. TF can make the most use of deep wards and wards in general across the map while bypassing other wards and basically TF is just a huge team utility snowball. Katarina is the greedy snowball. Their damage and kits fit who they are. (but like, Kat damage is still damn)

this is a good argument but not for those champions

katarina is snowballing her team to snowball herrself, she snowballs them, they will make it so enemies cant retaliate to her pure solo carry here ... using your team as body shields, and holding controll over the game

tf is snowballing his team ... becuase he is is useless, he does what he can to win ... and his only possibility is to launch his team as hiugh as he can and make them do it for him pure being carried here ... he is like a middle lane support, all he can do is to TRY to make his team do better but everything is in their hands

but i dont think that its a ballance problem ... i think that tf's pick a card just sucks either gold carr or failure, no other card is realy usefull in combat (ofc blue replenishes some mana and red can vawe clear ... but most of the time even in lane you will aim for the gold cards)

tf is meant to be utility for the team ... and all he does is that gold card

and all he does is that gold card

Global gold card is like the strongest ganking tool in the game

TF is in the same boat as Shen. He's not there to win his lane, he's there to win yours. Not exactly a champion that's all about himself like Katarina is, he's more built around snowballing your team instead of yourself.

So sick of seeing "X Champ does more than Y Champ" threads.

There is so much more to a Champion than purely their damage output numbers. And taken out of context those numbers are next to meaningless.

Katarina Ultimate 750 (+ 250% AP) (+ 375% bonus AD)

Malzahar's Combo O' Ultimate Doom 1170 + (290% AP) + (40% (+5% per 100 AP) Max HP) + 1-3 Voidlings (each of which deals 100% Total AD and can attack several times in this timeframe)

Malzahar's W alone can 100-5 you if he has a max ap build, you stand in it for the full duration, you have literally 0 hp/5, and you have 0 mr after his runes and masteries are factored in (19% per second at 1000 ap). Realistically, no one should ever spend more than 3 seconds in the pool unless cced by other sources. There's a reason his secondary is assassin and it's not his mobility

that is like comparing apples with oranges lol

Add the item 3100 ,it's a must for tf

Stun her or something then it does 0 dmg. Doesn't sound as op anymore right?

On another note, Nunu's ult does 3 times more damage, 300%!!!!, than a full rotation of twisted fate's combo at level 6!!!!

If you are stupid enough to get hit by Nunu's full channel ult, you deserve to die. It is SO easy to get out of and SO easy to interrupt.

insaiyanbacca1 votes

same goes for kat's

insaiyanbacca2 votes

did you make sure to account for the lich bane you pretty much always build on tf, and the approximately 4 sec cd on his q so he'd likely get it off twice in a fight

Unless TF hits Kat ult with a gold card then Kat ult does significantly less damage...

Lugg1 votes

By the time his gold card comes up, he's already dead.

FooDang2 votes

Unless he locks it in before she ults then she isnt going to get anywhere near him...the point i was making is if someone interupts her channel her damage is negated...you cant just look at numbers when looking at a champions kit, you also have to look at how that damage is being applied and how it can get countered...GL getting that damage out if the enemy has multiple sources of CC that can interrupt her channel...

Lugg1 votes

Any semi-decent Kat isn't going to ult in if she sees TF has his gold card up or is picking his card. She gets waits for it to be used or go away, then goes in. A smart Kat waits for the CC to be used before going in.

A smart TF won't be within shunpo range if he's about to lose his gold card. But of course he still won't be able to challenge katarina because the same scenario will just keep playing out, so it keeps him safe but he doesn't gain and ground from the dance.

That being said, kat vs TF is one of the few lane matchups that kat wins, so there really isn't much TF can do except try to gank other lanes or bait her in for mid lane ganks.
