Irelia tips?

Bladerunner7777··1 votes·836 views

I'm trying to get better at irelia but I have a few questions as far as builds go. Some of these would apply to other champs as well. Right now what I've basically been doing is just rushing guinsoo's because it seems strong but if it gets the nerf stick that's what these questions are about.

When would I rush youmuu's?

When would I rush sheen?

When would I rush phage?

When would I rush rageblade?

Should I ever get berserker greaves?

Should I ever get hextech gunblade?

And as far as skill order goes is it:

Max W if they're easy to autoattack

Max E vs everything else

right?

Ghostblade: I don't like it on her personally. Armor pen doesn't do much since W is true damage and she deals a lot of hybrid. The Q is enough of a gap closer imo to negate the active if used properly. I don't think it gives AS anymore, just flat AD, which you generally don't want too much, except on the Q. Sheen: generally first item for burst and combing. I generally followed the mentality Sheen > Phage > Zeal. Not sure if Zeal should move up given the changes, but I still like Sheen first almost always. Phage: Good for when you need to get farm and get out and for Q followup on a minion reset. Gives good states for helping your all in trades with sheen. Generally my second item over Zeal. I'll test zeal before phage and get back to you. Rage blade: I haven't tried it yet. I doubt the validity of it just due to the fact that IIrelia's ratios don't go above 50% except for the Q with AD. I'll test it and give you my opinion. Only thing is, if you build it, I'd argue you'd want to build an iceborn for you sheen price (lich bane is bad on her and triforce would be quite expensive in addition to the rageblade, plus building in would hinder your tank stats that you need mid to late game). Triforce also gives a lot of other states that are just good on Irelia, so I always choose tri over rage blade. I'll test it out this week and get back to you. Berserker's Greaves: personally no, merc treads or tabi always. You won't really need that much more AS with AS reds and the masteries + tri. The bonus tenacity is amazing and tabi are gods in the heavy AD meta atm with champs like yas, trynd, vayne, quinn, graves, etc. Most teams are running a lot of triple AD comps, which armor shuts down. Gunblade: same with rageblade: your ratios aren't good enough to warrant it imo. Tri is just better imo. I will say if you pick 1 or the other (rageblade or gunblade) do rageblade. Same with rageblade also, I'll test it and get back to you. E first for aggressive laners, W first for passive laners/lanes you win. E is much safer for stun duration and junk, W is for more aggression and sustain. My personal build was always triforce, mercs or tabi, frozen heart/spirit visage (whichever I needed first then the other), Randuins/Banshee's (whichever I needed more for their team, then a situational like BORK for tank killing and AS + the active and %, ghostblade for split pushing, or another tank item if I really needed to frontline. More often than not for damage it was BORK. Hope that helps some. I'll test newer stuff soon and get back to you.

When would I rush youmuu's? Basically never an item to rush I have never evne really hear about rushing ghostblade but it has been a decent item for later on in boosting overall damage aginst squishy targets since all but E is physical damage or true damage, It is however not really better then Maw in most cases currently.

When would I rush sheen? If you are considering rushing trinity instead of rageblade and are against a squsihy target Or you want a lot of damage and have enough for a sheen but not a phage. Basically sheen is the burst damage item

When would I rush phage? Same situation as Sheen but when the enemy is kind tanky or if you have to back and only have enough gold for phage parts but not enough for a sheen. In other words the sustained damage item.

When would I rush rageblade? Generally the best item to rush currently since it is more damage then trinity in Irelia's full combo for 1000 less gold. IF you have the gold for a piece of rageblade get it instead of a longsword and/or ruby crystal if you want to get the biggest damage boost in laning.

Should I ever get berserker greaves? If you are facerolling it can be justified but otherwise ask yourself if any enemies are really a threat and build to contend with them.

Should I ever get hextech gunblade? IF you are looking for godly sustain gunblade is currently justified on Irelia after a rageblade.

And as far as skill order goes is it: usually eqwwwrwewereeqqrqq against melee and for ranged qewwwrwewereeqqrqq

Max W if they're easy to autoattack? If they are easy to auto attack and you are likely to do more then just a single auto in a trade to the enemy. Also ideal for sustain overall

Max E vs everything right? Maxing E is more of a case of knowing you will likely be having issues disengaging or against a squishy who you can out damage in an extended trade.

I play Irelia mid what is a good item to consider against burst champs? Hexdrinker is really good for stopping champs like Leblanc and Syndra from blowing you up.

Go sheen if your winning, phage if your losing lane.

Max w if you need sustain

Max e if you are getting ganks or have kill potential.

Get botrk of you are vs alot of tanks

Honestly i have never built youmuus on irelia.

Any of these builds are fine

Tri then tanky

Tri rage blade then tanky

Tri botrk then tanky

Side note dont underestimate your damage with just a sheen and always look for tp ganks to bot if they have a squishy support.

You may want a hexdrinker first depending on the matchup.

And about bork, is it still worth buying? It seems a lot weaker than before

Yo will need it to kill an extremely tanky team.

Else some one like mundo or a shen will just kill you

Now I have been doing good with this build (Get these items in this order) item 3124 item 3078 item 3111 item 3742 item 3065

And for the last item you can do whats ever needed. As for skills, what I have done is start E, Max W, Then E, Then Q. This is just what ive been doing and ive won almost every game as Irelia, even against Illaoi. Its up to you wether or not you want to follow this.

Rageblade is pretty much the best item to complete first on top Irelia. Definitely beats working toward an expensive and watered-down TForce.

Merc Treads come across as a lot more useful due to how well it synergizes with her passive. Top those two aforementioned items with an Iceborn Gauntlet and you've got damage, MR, Armor, Tenacity and all the sustain from your W to keep you going. Good stuff!

From there, you could grab a gunblade for more damage and added sustain. Alternatively, you could stock up on more armor and HP--Randuins is a very good item for duelng with autoattackers and Dead Man's Plate is good for runnin' around real fast. For a sixth and final item: Wit's End, Maw, and Visage are all good for topping up your MR, or you could grab another armor item.

Bear in mind that Irelia is an entirely different beast in the jungle, and she currently capitalizes best in a Devourer build with Rageblade, Gunblade, BotRK and some beef to keep you alive.
