Runeglaive needs more AP.
Runeglaive as it appears on the PBE is underpowered, in the sense that it is a de facto core item for junglers who build AP, and it provides AP equal to the AD item for junglers in a game balanced around the assumption that AP itemization has bigger numbers across the board than AD. It's a nerf to AP junglers in the long run, especially given that anyone seeking its unique passive would probably build the better form anyway. Not only does it compare unfavorably to
(in spite of the AoE, which is mostly beneficial to farming), but also to Warrior. It's also possible for the single-target damage of its passive to decrease when upgraded from Sheen, because its AP and scaling alone are less than 25% of any champion's base AD above level 1. It should grant 60 AP, this being half the value of items that build out of
, just as Warrior grants half the AD of items based on
.
I don't know whether this would require giving up something else, but
is already an inefficient item, and Spellblade's value is difficult to measure. However, as it stands, the item begs to be sold and replaced in the late game, which is not an ideal situation for an item that is effectively mandatory for AP junglers to build. It addresses the issue of the old AP jungle enchantment Magus lacking mana sustain, but it creates a glaring slot efficiency problem the way it is now.
