Remove Deathcap, add more ap items

I went through the list of every ap carry in the game. Every one of them builds a deathcap. What could be more boring than a big ball of one stat on an item you need on all apcs every game? Whenever I play mid, I build the exact same 5 items over and over again (morello, sorc, void, dcap, zhonya) on every champion, occasionally switching something out for roa/tear/lich bane for short range/spammy/autoattack modifier mages. Meanwhile every game as a tank I look at opponent builds. Playing as adc, I can build apen and flat ad and sheen upgrades on caster adcs, and full crit on auto-reliant adcs. Or go for on-hit effects.

I'd say ADC builds are pretty static. You've got IE, shiv/pd, bork/bt, lw, and greaves. Only the caster ADCs build a little differently, which usually just means adding a triforce.

Deathcap exists so that mages have a way to hyperscale. AD items hyperscale with AD, AS, crit, and Arpen all making the others more effective. Mages have AP and Mpen, and that's it.

As opposed to every jungler building their machete, or every ADC building IE, or every bruiser being Randiun's?

Machete is not a final item. Not every ADC builds IE in every situation (hey maybe that's what riot was trying to do with IE nerf). Building randiun's with 4 AP enemy team would not be very smart. There have been suggestions to make more sightstone upgrades. Your move.

@above yeah I understand that dcap allows mages to hyperscale. introduce new mpen items (liandry's has mix identity, sorc boots really only perfect mpen item), or a new ap stat, or just balance mages without deathcap.

There are two ADCs that don't buy IE, Vayne and Ezreal, Vayne because she scales better with AS and pen, and Ezreal because Blue Ezreal. Every other one, buys an IE. If not the first item, which they need to and should for the power spike, then second.

No, they still buy it then, because 500 health on top of the slow it gives. They might buy Banshee's/Spirit first, but I have yet to see a game where it goes long enough that bruisers don't buy randiuns.
