PSA: Being Bad ≠ Intentional Feeding

the weeaboo··78 votes·3,342 views

I am so tired of seeing people flame at teammates for "inting" when they really just aren;t good players, or even just don;t know how to play a matchup. "Report for inting" "Report for feeding". No. You can;t report someone for being bad at the game.

There is a difference between not being good and intentional walking into the enemy and giving them free kills. If the person was inting they'd be 0/10 not 2/6. If the enemy Darius completely dives you under tower and you die, that's not int feeding. That called they got an early game advantage and now you can do anything because they've already snowballed.

Please know the difference everyone. Having a bad game isnt feeding.

You don't know what REAL feeding is until you see this lol :

The win with 103 deaths and 0 kill contribution is impressive. That is wining a 4 v 5 with the team of 5 getting free gold.

Marshbouy6 votes

after about 10 deaths he's pretty much just a few minions though, still very impressive.

RedCyclone1 votes

This was when the least gold you could give was like 150g

aspects14 votes

how do you even get 54 deaths in 28m and how long must that win have been to get 103 deaths lol

Spice POWAH2 votes

Revival runes, maybe?

Also, it looks really old, so that could have been when the revive Summoner spell existed.

Blackstone012 votes

That is when it was. He has revive every game.

wow how'd I not notice the summoner spells are displayed...

The saddest part is the person was able to play so many games without being punished. But I'd bet she got a lot of people chat banned for calling her a troll.

Yeah this funny game of 'Picking the guy with worst KDA' - 'REPORT!!! XYZ' is getting kinda boring after all those seasons... but w/e... xD Just ignore it and report who ever is asking for unjust reports for a negative attitude - at leasts that's my handeling.

Maybe those guys will learn from one or two chat restrictions. ^^'

Spice POWAH5 votes

I feel like this should be behavior/moderation

Anyway, yeah, you can't expect bot lane to be used to something weird in low elo like riven/urgot bot or whatever

I faced a Camille support a week or so ago and died a ridiculous number of times just because I had no idea what to do.

I understand 0/5. I don't understand 0/10. That's intentionally feeding through active trolling or ignorance. Neither is better than the other.

I'd say that 0/10 is still acceptable if it's clear that the person isn't intentionally feeding. I might get slightly more angry at someone who's 0/10 by twenty minutes than a guy that's 0/10 at fifty minutes, but I won't let my anger influence my chat. I'll remain positive and continue to encourage the player to do better, giving him or her tips if I have any.

You need to take into account your teammate's opponent (maybe he or she is a lot better than your teammate), your teammate (maybe it's a normal match where your low ranked teammate is far below the average MMR of the room because he's in a premade), your teammate's champion (might be counterpicked), and just how your teammate is doing. Some people have off days; maybe they just got back into playing, maybe they had moderately traumatic experiences and aren't completely focused on League, maybe the internet was just really bad but the people didn't want to complain about it in chat, et cetera.

Well, it really depends on circumstances. If mid and jungle have gone top 3 times and blown all their ults, and the enemy top is literally diving all of you as long as you're alone, even the Riven with a Caulfields, Giants Belt, and Chain Vest who is pinging 600 g to finish their Dead Mans, 0/5 and 0/10 just count on the ballsiness of the person diving.

Also, 0/10/7 probably means melee, lost lane, tries to help in teamfights but dies too fast.

Blåbæret5 votes

When you go 0/15 in a 30 minutes you bet your're going to get reported. Being bad is no excuse for feeding and making bad decisions. If you have a brain you'll play safe and not engage in fights. That's not the case 99% of the time however. Unskilled player should definitely still be an option in order to drop these people's MMR back to bronze 5.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you an example of why the League community is widely considered the most toxic on the internet.

NichtHurz2 votes

Trust me, Dota 2 is worse. Not a single enjoyable person in that community, after 200 wins I didn't meet one nice Dota 2 player.

Otacustes2 votes

How is he wrong though? In specific situations like he's talking about (people going 0/15, the rest of it is just toxic garbage), the player should be competent enough to go "hmm, maybe I should play safer since I clearly can't fight this guy". Getting tower dived or camped is one thing, but fighting your laner and dying over and over and over is akin to touching a hot stove and wondering why you got burned. If you point out their mistakes and tell them to play safer or don't walk into unwarded jungle alone, they flame you or ignore you.

If their excuse is "I'm bad, leave me alone", then they clearly don't want to learn from their mistakes and I don't see how they're having fun dying again and again, so it leads me to wonder why they're even playing in the first place.

It Hertz When IP2 votes

No one's saying said 0/15 player isn't an imbecile, or that if they can't ever figure out to just play safe and farm they'll never leave bronze. The point is that going 0/15 in and of itself is NOT reportable, because just being dumb is not against the rules.

Otacustes3 votes

Ah, gotcha. My bad.

being dumb is not against the rules.

It shoud be.

No, it really shouldn't. For your sake, if nothing else.

Blast Deadlift4 votes

But Intentional feeding = being bad

Fly Fish Master1 votes

No. Inting is running it down mid.

AMYS GRAVE1 votes

No. There are forms of int feeding that are not running it down mid.

There is a trend which i've seen over the past year where players will go 20-3-2 (or something like that) by last hitting every kill they can, power farming their jungle every chance they can while also farming their lane(s), so they take all the resources they can get away from their teammates. In the end they contribute very little to teamfights so their damage dealt to champions will be quite low. Then at 30 min they walk into the enemy team and right click someone without casting a single ability to int feed 2-3-4 times. At that point no one on the team has any gold and can't fight back 4v5 and the death timers are long enough that the game is lost. They lose, get to stay in low elo, and stomp noobs in lane over and over again.

RocketRelm13 votes

This is where categorically identifying things is important.

All Int Feeding is Being Bad (True) but All Being Bad is Int Feeding (False)

Or to use another example… All Rioters have played League Of Legends, but not all players of League of Legends are Rioters.

AMYS GRAVE1 votes

All Rioters have played League Of Legends,

Highly unlikely. I doubt that every single one of their networking guys plays league. Their payroll manager? Their mailroom guy?

When this ash builds courage and goes 3-13 by 20min id consider that intent

IcyPepper6 votes

Context.

Obviously people intent feed... but it's not always the case. There are stupid people who think it's a good idea to build thornmail on an ADC, though, but there is a line between int and being bad.

Blackstone011 votes

Thornmail isn't a good idea to build on an ADC? The tutorial had me build it on Ashe tho.

IcyPepper1 votes

Something Rito will never live down.

It Hertz When IP3 votes

Intent means no more or less than intentionally feeding the enemy kills. By definition, if the Ashe in question thought it would work, that is not intentional feeding. That is being a dumbass. Which, I would note, is sadly NOT reportable.

Reason why Unskilled Player report was nice.

It was just an outlet for players to vent their frustrations. It did nothing.

DoktorKaiser2 votes

It lowered your MMR so that you can play with worse players that are maybe same level as you are (aka matched you with bronze where you belonged)

e46 Fanatic2 votes

Yeah EVERY SINGLE MATCH somes with players who report for false reasons, I've gotten temporary chat restrictions just because troll friends reported me cause I had a bad game. The League community is RIDICULOUS. These people truly are out of their mind, my head wants to burst EVERY. SINGLE. MATCH. I've never faced so much ignorance. Really though it's just 2016 and the attitudes of this generation's children. Kid's calling each other's KID as an insult, it's all unbelievable.

DoktorKaiser2 votes

I am sorry if I seem like an ahole, but being extremely bad = ruining games for others and intentionally feeding = ruining games for others, so I dont really care, I will report 0 15 people because RIOT removed the report reason "unskilled player" which just lowered their MMR by a bit if they were extreme feeding, but now I can only report them for inting so, sorry, but I certanly will.

Papa Andrei1 votes

What if its the support with 0/15 but has double that in assists? and no one else on team is dying because support is like "TAKE MY LIFE"

DoktorKaiser2 votes

Of course thats not what I meant, people who dont take assists seriously annoy me more than before mentioned feeders.

Dehorn2 votes

debatable. for example, i watched a yasuo getting dumpstered by a leblanc. yas was not buying magic resist but kept engaging on the leblanc. in chat he was raging on how "lucky" this leblanc was etc etc etc. in his mind, he wasnt "intentionally" feeding but in reality... he was. he didnt even try to buy mr until his 4th item... after 11 deaths. the team told him over and over to buy mr, but he wouldnt.

would you consider this to be intentional feeding? i do.

Calabok1 votes

being bad and feeding is the same.

Aeszarck6 votes

{quoted}

being bad and feeding is the same.

Not really. If being bad and feeding were the same things, then every single Bronze V player would feed every single game, which doesn't happen. Some will do well while others will feed the ones that do. The ones that are doing well aren't feeding, despite the fact that they're still some of the weakest players in the game.

Should Rito bring back the option to report someone for being bad?

Aeszarck2 votes

{quoted}

Should Rito bring back the option to report someone for being bad?

Well, that option did nothing anyways, and it would look bad on Riot to bring it back because it would seem like they're promoting people calling out others on being bad, which is just toxic behavior.

Bloodhawk951 votes

You used to be able to report people just cause they sucked at the game lol

woodvsmurph1 votes

So if you are feeding in your matchup, maybe you ask for help, play safer (not shove out lane and try to harass enemy under their tower when you don't even have ward vision of your flanks. Maybe you start giving up that 3 or 6 cs in order to not die for 5th time in laning. Maybe you ping mia's and start listening to your teammates if they tell you to leave (don't stay to finish clearing the wave before you leave or it will be too late) or to group for an objective (not keep autoing a tower or chasing an enemy you cannot catch). Maybe people who are inting stop hiding behind the "bad game" excuse. You are absolutely correct there is a difference -- dying 5+ times apiece as the bot duo when the enemy jungle literally ganks you 1 time and camps top or mid all of laning is not "having a bad game". Doing this and then refusing to group and help your team 5v5 at an objective or choosing to 2v5 contest an objective after feeding all laning is inting -- it's not "having a bad game". When people start getting punished for inting like that, then we won't have problems of people incorrectly being accused of inting nearly as much.
