League of Legends is an extremely unrewarding game.
I will start that by saying that whatever Riot's balance philosophy is, let them stand by it, but that doesn't mean i need to like it. League of legends is really unrewarding game, it truly is. I'm not surprised why people are actually leaving this game, because the efforts are not always worth the reward. The preseason changes made the game a little too snowbally and a little screw up in the first 10 minutes of the game can change the flow of the game dramatically. Well then if game moved to the direction where a little more skill is required, then why i can't reap the benefits of my exeptional play?
Let's analyze all FIVE roles in league of legends and how are they unrewarding:
We will begin with by far the most unrewarding role: The Top lane.
Top lane is generally known as a little island that's isolated and is extremely volatile to ganks. The lane is so damn unrewarding and snowbally, that whoever gets the first kill on your lane oponent wins the lane. The traditional top champions are bruisers, that are great early to mid game and have some sort of sustain, tankiness, damage and moderate mobility. These guys items are generally cheap so snowballing is much more easier. If i am playing a top
and i get one successfull gank, i'm screwed. Yeah good luck outtrading that
or a
if they get that early
.
For the rest of the lane i will be their little bitch and they have no problem diving me unless i really outplay them. But wait there is more! Even if I warded like a beast, won all trades and won top lane. It may not even matter because your botlane fed that
8/0. Who gives a damn if you win top when you have to play against a fed ADC that will be able to kite you and burst you any time of the week. The worst thing is you are reliant on not playing better, bet on your bot lane not sucking. I have a real deep respect for top lane mains, because they are able to climb with such an extremely shitty and unforgiving role.
You know what's also unrewarding? ADC
Yeah, i bet i'm gonna get a lot of hate for this, but ADC is unrewarding. There is a sad reality that we must accept, whenever ADCs are good, the assassins are good too. You start the game of being squishy, not doing any damage and having little to no cc. You must farm to get your items right and then you will be a tank shredding, tower killing beast. But wait there is more...For the first 15 minutes of the game you are reliant on your support. Yeah the guy that you just met will be responsible for your fate during the laning phase and we know how it goes...If your support is not doing anything, the lane is basically done. This is the most team reliant role in the game. If bot lane goes south, two out of five people are shutdown from the game and are useless. But what if you won the bot lane? What if you managed to communicate and stomped that botlane so hard, that after 10 minutes you left the lane 8/0?
It may not even matter, because your build is glass cannon and you're so squishy, for the rest of the game you are reliant on your team for not letting League of Gapclosers/League of Mobility get to you. You maybe 8/0, but what if your team are a bunch of potatoes and tell you to stop focusing those pesky
who can decimate you any time of the game? Yeah, what if your
is a potato and refuses to ult you and always ults the tank? You are basically done, because a dead ADC means that a team lost their most precious damage source. You can't push without ADC, you can't reliably take objectives without ADC, ADC must always be damn important!
Support may be a little more rewarding, but the rewards aren't that great, you operate on a low income budget and are the primary ward
and utility
bot in the team. You are responsible for winning bot lane, but if you fail to do that. Well let's just say supports aren't actually carries and you are reliant on them of well carrying you to victory. And you know you don't actually have the tools to fend of any assassins that just love to target supports, because of them being free gold.
Jungle. Well that's a role. It's actually the most game knowledge required role. But you are still reliant on your laners to be decent if they want to get any ganks. Oh this role is by far the most vulnerable to FOTM metaabusing picks. Yeah, this is the role strictly required to play a specific set of champions that are deemed viable or else, the game might as well be considered 4v5 and you as a designated roaming ward. Jungle is a role which contains:
Cheesy champions that became viable and extremely op:
Champions that abuse the current jungle items the best:
Super early game pressure gankers:
Champions that invalidate the rest of the jungle roster:
If you pick anything that's not on that list, you're gonna get reported by your team for playing "unviable" picks. And you'll spend the rest of the game being reminded by those champions how viable they are the hard way.
Last but not least is the Mid Lane
Mid lane isn't rewarding, because you can be ganked from any position in this lane. You most play the most mechanically hard champions and be extremely aware for ganks. Mid is really punishing, because any jungle pressure can decimate your chances of winning. I haven't heard anyone saying that it's fun playing against a snowballed mid. But that is not the point. My question is why are melee champions are still being played in the mid lane? Because dammit, getting early pushed is not really fun to play against. The most obnoxious the champions are the ones that are so safe that it's hard to punish their poor play. How dare you get those few cs by getting in range of:
. Any type of greed is punished with great prejudice. Oh and there is this trainwreck
. I don't even know what to call this abomintion.
I wonder. Why can't Riot finally make Zed a ranged champion. Because half of his abilties match or outranged nearly the half of mid lane's roster. I have to play against an assassin that can poke without mana and wait he has 3 escapes including his flash? where is the fairness in that ? The funniest thing is...That Riot buffed him. With the release of
, Zed has basically two ults.
To sum up, im really sad about the balance direction that League has taken, i used to be able to play this game casually and having extreme fun and also try harding. But now, it became only try harding, because the game became more unforgiving, but it didn't reward us players for playing better. No i don't consider scores 18/3 better gameplay. It's just a stomp, the better team didn't win. Just one person did one fatal mistake during the early game and it lead to the game snowballing to the opposing teams behalf.
**TL;DR ** League became too unrewarding and extremely team reliant
in top lane, you're in much better shape. rushing
