i don't know about you, but grand master sounds better than challenger
^

Yeah the title of Grand Master is given to the best. Challengers are the ones challenging to be the best. The Pros aren't a rank so should not be considered when naming ranked divisions. It's definitely kinda backwards and Grand Master just sounds like such a badass if I was a Challenger player I'd demote just to be called Grand Master.
And iron sounds better than bronze

Only cause bronze has established itself as a negative stigma in most games with a ranked ladder that uses metals as its progression.

Nope, it's because iron withstands a much higher heat than bronze, bronze needs copper and tin to be formed whereas iron just needs iron, iron is harder (and MUCH harder when adding a small amount of carbon), and the iron age came after the bronze age in history. League of Legends ranks has nothing to do with the comparison of these 2 materials that have been used by humans for thousands of years.

What on earth are you talking about? lol its based on rarity of the metal. lol Has nothing to do with history, its about rarity. Iron is much more prevalent then Bronze is. and rarity increases as you go up in rank ie Silver - Gold - Platinum.
Donno why ya got downvoted you are correct, it goes by rarity. What moron thinks gold is stronger than bronze? There's a reason gold weapons are ceremonial. Its so malleable you can dent it by biting on it.

I was Downvoted because people these days are sensitive to being told/informed they are wrong. lol I rarely use the upvote/downvote thingy, i forget its there all the time... but take my upvote.

it doesn't imply the metal's strength but value
bronze, silver, and gold are Olympic medals. plat is a higher value than gold diamond is a higher value than platinum. and isn't even a metal challenger is.. stranger still they added master only in i think season 5?
saying it needs ot be a "metal" is stupid
barely over HALF the of actaul current ranks are not metal even if 92% of player are within those half
diamond, master, and challenger are not "metals"
so and "iron" is stupid anyways
it should be WOOD. because thats why we have been calling bronze 5 people for the past 6 years and likely the years before i started playing as well.
nobody wants "iron"
and the LAST thing we need is another "gray" metal
Nobody wants iron? That's funny cause I'm pretty sure the people that'll be in Iron don't want it to be called wood. Just the elitists who want to rank shame people. You're just mad because Riot killed another meme. Get over it.
Bronze age weapons and armor vs iron age weapons and armor... hmm I would take iron if I had to go into battle.

Its about rarity, not the strength of the metal... use your head. Gold is the softest on the list.
If it's about rarity... first off "challenger" and "diamond" are neither rare nor metal. Second off, there are metals rarer than gold or platinum. Thirdly, I'm responding to "why iron vs why bronze or wood" rather than doing a philosphical look at every single tier in lol.
*yes... diamonds are actually not rare. Nor are most innately strong. They are artificially made to be rare so that owners of mines and sellers of jewelry can get more money from them... much like if everyone who made chocolate chip cookies limited sales to only a few a day and charged $100 per cookie or something absurd like that. And they must be cut properly to be made into the strong diamonds most people would actually recognize.
There. I used my BRAIN - which is INSIDE my head. You are welcome.
Nah Iron has a good rep.
Iron will, Iron lung, Iron -insert thing you want to call strong.

okay? i agree with you, thats the reason the division was not called "wood". Iron is not an insult like bronze, or (wood) if they went with that.
I was mainly trying to point out that while Iron has some good things to say about it, I haven't heard of anything good about Bronze except for 'bronzed blank' when it comes to tans.
Silver sounds better than that 2...
And the only one in that division will be
hashinshin
[sg-miss-fortune]
riot copies sc2s ranking system - switches challenger and GM - original ranking system
Yeah like in FGO , grand is the highest
No, and don't really care cause I'll never reach it.
All of you people who are talking about metal hardness vs metal rarity are ignoring one BIG thing. Iron division just sounds BADASS! Remember we are talking about the players themselves here, and if i were to be associated with a metal I would rather it be iron rather than bronze.
Challenger means that you are near to be a Pro Player if I'm not wrong.
Idc cause I will never reach it.
They should call it Apprentice. make it take the place of Masters and have masters in Grand Masters place.
Yeah, I never thought challenger ever sounded like a badass name or a name boasting high skill even before masters was a division. It sounds like you are a beginner or someone challenging an upper dog morelike.
