how to rank up?

When I face an enemy in lane who is a colour teir above me, I can pretty reliably beat them.

But I know, from experience, that my team won't win if the enemy team is overall higher ranked than my team.

Do I just keep plugging away at it, hoping to ride probability up to a higher rank so I have more players in game that are closer to my skill level?

Or am I missing something in how to play this game?

Because I'm confident in my ability to lane against players from higher ranks, from when I play in custom games. But I have no confidence in my team keeping up.

To be honest you are clueless. You will never have good reliable teammates you just have to be better than the shitters on the other team. Sometimes you are not enough but 90% of the time you can be enough. You dont hope to win games you get better and you win games. The game is not about your ability to lane against players the games is about your ability to influence enough of the game that the ending percent is in your favor so that you win the game. When you play solo que only smurfs are "a higher tier than you" and even then it really doesn't matter. To rank up learn how to play the beginning of the game the middle and the end and everything inbetween, play easy champions, work on the basics. That alone will have you sitting at diamond 5. Sincerely ex gold now diamond player.

A bit of usable advice.

To clarify: I was playing in custom games, where everyone's ranking is shown before the match begins at all.

From what you've described, it looks like you're talking about the tier/elo system, like Bronze, Silver, Gold, Plat, ect? Well, if you're describing that, you have to play ranked games to 'rank up'.

If you have not done any ranked games at all, you'll have to start with your placement games, or provisional games. Those 10 games will decide where you land, whether it be Bronze, Silver, gold, ect.

After you have done the provisional games, and you have your rank, you can play ranked games in effort to rank up, based on a point system where you gain an x amount of LP (( league points )) per win, and lose an x amount of LP per loss, once you reach 100LP, you are in a series, and you have to win the 2/3 of the next games to get 'ranked up'. If you lose games at 0LP, you're at risk of being demoted.

Currently, it is the pre-season, so ranked games aren't as important as they would be in a few months, as I recall, playing ranked games will partially decide season 6 provisionals, but other than that, ranked games aren't counted towards much at the moment.

I hope that clarified some things!

peace! :) [slayer-jinx-catface]

Join a 5a team if you really want more reliable team mates or find a duo partner for the ranked queue.

Maybe stop playing supportive champions and start with Champs that can actually carry games :) Shen ,for example, rely to much on team ,has 1 cc spell ,if mised you lose straight up .

Yah, that totally makes sense. And that's definitely a view I have, too.

The thing is, that I totally love playing Shen, so much!! So of course I want to pick him. My goal is to let players play the roles they want: usually someone wants adc and mid, so I let them have it. . then they're terrible in those roles!!
