Stop saying Ekko has bad scalings

SpecterVonBaren··24 votes·5,039 views

He has a .7 ratio on his passive, a .2 + .6 ratio on his q so if he lands both hits it's a total of .8, a point .8 ratio on his w active (Although it's not damage, it's a very good ratio for a shield) and his ult has a 1.3 ratio. Only his e has a truly low ratio of .2.

His scalings are not bad, it's the effort required to use all of them that will gate his damage.

higher than Veigar's, too. who is known for having "good" ratios

And his ultimate is FREE. And he's an assassin, not a burst mage. His secondary is also Fighter.

I agree dude buff Veigar's ratios.

Bombkirby1 votes

Champs with infinite scaling AP or super high AP amounts (like Cass) always have low Ratios. It makes their power sort of an illusion sadly. Like even though Cass could get over 1000 AP the scaling was low enough to make that not stupidly OP.

Curling Veigar2 votes

Veigar's role was the defined burst Mage, though..

They got bored of Veigar and made LeBonk

Next Leblanc skin. El Lebonk. Instead of her staff she carries around a guitar and whenever she detonates her Sigil you hear a bwing sound.

ive gotten to play him once because the pbe servers are hosed atm, but i noticed that you would be able so build him like Diana in any way that Diana should be built and do really good

His Goatliness2 votes

Veig's W and R both have 1.0 ratios. Can't remember his Q but I know it's pretty good.

Kingsgrave8 votes

The amount of burst he has in just QE combo is ridiculous

People are stupid if they think 1.7 AP ratio on just two abilities essentially if you count his passive is "bad scalings"

Sirsir1 votes

Thats not even counting the execute on autos

Ekko has a 2.25 second AOE stun. That's some Veigar level crazy, and it isn't even confined to the edges.

Forget everything else. That's god damn ultimate level power. Sona 's ultimate is a 1.5 second stun.

Let it sink in.

Icestar118611 votes

3+ second cast time and he has to be in the area to trigger it. It'll take skill. Lots of skill.

Squarefighter2 votes

In most cases I wouldn't even call it skill. I've never played as or against Ekko so I don't 100% know, but it looks to me like his W stun will almost certainly be more a zoning tool than anything else because of how telegraphed it is. But if you wander into it or are dragged in by a hook, prepare for deletion.

kDrakari1 votes

It may seem that way when you're watching someone play Ekko, but if you see someone play AGAINST Ekko the W isn't actually as telegraphed as it seems. You can see when it's cast, but you don't get an indicator for WHERE it's cast until much later in the animation (to be specific, after the "ghost" hits the "device") so you only get about 1 second to truly avoid it... assuming Ekko predicted where you'd want to be correctly.

The crazy part is going to be whether or not to duel Ekko in that area or run. The end result is dueling him gives him a shield + stuns the enemy and fleeing still likely gives him a shield but doesn't stun the enemy, however, the enemy isn't fighting back and thus soaking free dmg which is the equivalent of a stun. Definitely a zoning tool among other uses. I like that it isn't instant.

Shockforce1 votes

A decent amount of skill, although it does take up a massive area. It makes for very strong disengage at the least.

I would be kind of scared to tower-dive that.

Or being part of a chain

IcyPepper4 votes

Honestly, I don't mind. I've never been a fan of assassins due to how a fed one can just delete players, but I think I'll like Ekko. Utility, decent damage, and most of all I'll actually have to work for it.

Dr Poro1 votes

Exactly. A fed Ekko can still be useless if he can't use his W and R correctly and if he misses his Q. You can still win against a fed Ekko by outplaying him hard. On the otherhand, a good Ekko can still be very dangerous even when behind. His ult is hard to land but does a lot of damage when it hits.

junglerboy164 votes

E also applies both spell and on-hit effects, which with the build most people are doing on PBE (Luden's+Lich bane) gives him about 900 damage in up-front, targeted gapclosing burst.

From what I've seen, he is rather weak early, but has tremendous late game scaling.

Zair Umbras1 votes

You're actually seeing AP on him? I keep seeing AD idiots. o.o

Durzaka1 votes

People building AD are absolutely retarded. He has NOTHING worth building AD for besides the 3 hit passive, which still scales on AP.

junglerboy161 votes

Yes AP, and no we aren't idiots, he has 70% AP ratio on his Passive, an 80% AP ratio on Q, ~2% AP as % missing health on W passive, 80% on W shield, 20% (but also applying Lich bane and Luden's) on E, and 130% AP ratio on the damage of his R along with a 3% AP % damage taken scaling on the heal.

He has some of the highest late game AP scaling of most assassins at the moment, and nothing

Zair Umbras1 votes

If you go AP, then how am I calling you an idiot..? I was calling the AD users idiots since he has 0 AD ratios and almost no synergy with AD. lol.

junglerboy161 votes

Sorry, the way you phrased it was very ambiguous and I thought you meant it as "I think AD works better idiots". My apologies for the confusion.

The5lacker3 votes

My problem with Ekko is that his scalings are in some weird places.

I'd drop his passive down to 60% AP, have his Q be 40% both ways, and bump his E up to 40%. Make it a bit more useful as an opening gambit.

Dr Poro2 votes

I don't think that Riot wants Ekko to be another "has abilities that require much skill but strong enough to kill people without them" champ. They seem to have put the strengths into the more counterplayable abilities. (2nd part of Q, passive and ulti) rather than the little (first part of Q) or no (E) counterplay abilities.

Everyone has better AP scaling than Mordekaiser, even AP Shen lol

TotalJerk3 votes

But his scalings ARE pretty bad. The thing that offsets it is that his base numbers are a little insane. With the amount of AoE CC he has to go with that, I'm pretty sure people are going to make him a tank, bruiser, or support.

He's cleary an assassin

He is everything an Assassin should be (+ utility) Situational, tactical, having to pick out and set up his targets for deletions, not just dash in with QWE + ignite)

Myozthirirn1 votes

more like W wait 2 seconds EQignite and R if he gets trashed A little less binary than QWE+ignite.. but just that.. a litle

TotalJerk1 votes

No shit? That's his intention. But I'm saying he's in a situation akin to Fiddlesticks where he has really high base numbers and lots of CC, that's going to lead to him finding his way to other roles. He has far more potential than just jumping on squishies.

TotalJerk1 votes

I look back and laugh at the fact that I got downvoted for this.

Meep Man2 votes

Not to mention that his E is an enhanced basic attack so it will also apply on-hit effects and spell effects, so it doesn't need any scaling hardly.

shadecrapper2 votes

In a tank meta they nurfed Veigar, I just now understood how mested up that was. They really hate Veigar.item 3070 Veigar item 3070

ArkenStorm1 votes

His scalings are pretty great, but only if you hit both times on his q for that. his ult ratio is insane and his passive is scary. the best part is, its all sustained and not instaburst. :D But once you get below 30% health....Say goodbye to the world

The Loveless1 votes

yeah but the damage is situational. the only guaranteed damage/skill he has is e

ArkenStorm1 votes

isnt that what I just said?

The Loveless1 votes

um, idk..seems like i meant to reply to someone else strange

IceKingChernobog1 votes

question, is ekko an AD or AP assassin?

DrCyanide1 votes

AP.

He has no AD scaling, so going AD would make him completely rely on auto attacks for damage. Which isn't bad, but his passive essentially gives him damage for auto attacks that scales with AP, making it a "why would you ever go AD?" situation.

IceKingChernobog1 votes

i see, i was hoping he would be a hybrid fighter but we know riot wouldn't let that happen anymore

Zair Umbras1 votes

Get Lich Bane, watch stuff die in a Q+E/AA combo.

Durzaka1 votes

Have you actually played him yet?

landing both hits on his Q is next to impossible, no one gets hit by the return damage.

His ult is the most unreliable damage in the entire game, it having a high ratio is compensation.

And his passive is a 3 hit passive, meaning that .7 ratio is really only a 0.25 ratio.

His only real good scaling is on the shield, which it fucking better have good scaling for the setup it requires to even use.

The real thing is literally all of his damage is on a 3 hit passive, a skill passive that only works below 30% hp, and his ult which will be next to impossible to use as a damaging skill.
