I am actually a product manager as opposed to a project manager. A product manager deals with managing the product (quality level) as well as creating the high level strategy/goals for the products. The project manager (or development manager as we call it at Riot) deals with how we are going to get it all done (Schedule and process.) So, deciding that spending resources to update old splash art is a good strategy in a product manager thing, while figuring out how we are going to get it done is a dev management thing. :)

And I am not the only product manager at Riot, every team has one :)

Like, who's next after Trist, who's after them, and so forth.

We don't have a exact timeline and probably won't create one as it would change often. Our bandwidth at times can dictate who we do next. If we have little bandwidth doing a champ with less splashes in need makes sense, whereas if we had more bandwidth doing a champion like MF or Twitch might make more sense.

It's always possible. Once we get through all the champions that received VU's we would re-evaluate the strategy and see if it makes sense to start working our way through the back catalog. So far the splash updates have been pretty well received so it could be likely.

Trust me, I would love to see a amazing high quality splash whenever I lock in Blood Lord Vlad too!

I hope you guys get to Safari Caitlyn sooner rather than later. I really really liked the old splash art with her just sitting there with some tea on her safari hunt. So fitting. The new chinese art is just all kinds of yuck, artoon style and no personality with a generic pose.

If I could ask. Why is it that the splashes weren't updated with the VU or Rework? I honestly just wondering because Taric had his done but Trist is just now getting hers and Sion still hasn't.

Speaking of Trist, why wasn't Rocket Girl fully updated? It was just the same old art but modified, which I think kind of took away from the image.

Also wondering how you decide which one is priority, since Trist was a newer update where as Karma and Sej are back in the Trundle update time and they still don't have theirs and now it sounds like you might be looking at Twitch after Sion.

These splashes take quite a long time to do (roughly 1-2 months each) and we felt that the increase in quality on rocket girl wouldn't be high enough to justify doing in from scratch, over doing another splash that was much lower quality. We did want to update the ears and fingers since they were inaccurate to the model though.

The decision on which splash to prioritize comes down to many different things. Twitch and Trundle have some of the lowest quality splashes in the game so they are pretty high priority. They are not prioritized by time they were released though.

Pantheon is on the list to get a full VGU one day. All his splashes would be updated whenever that happens.

On the topic of Pantheon, do you know how you'd rework him?

Would he still be the high-flying, spear-tossing, earlygame-pain-in-the-ass that he currently is and retain his reliable, but poor lategame-scaling skills, or would you try to push him towards the theme of "one-against-many" that his current iteration (especially pre-Targon update) seems to project?

Not sure on the details as it hasn't been started and even once it starts these kinds of things change constantly over the course of development. I don't think his ult would ever change much if it even changes at all though. If so it would probably only be modified a bit like GP's ult was. I think the major goal would be to make him feel less like a generic Spartan guy and more like a Targonian Aspect of War.

At first i thought that it was Special Forces GP, and it would make sense... However, his hat seems to be from the Captain Skin. In fact, i would say that the clothes of Gangplank are the ones before his second rework.

I personally ADORE the fact that GP's ''crew'' and barrels are also in the splash! This is basically the first picture I've seen that has ''the complete champion Gangplank''

I mean, even though we don't get to see them, GP's crew is a large part of his kit :p (They fire his ultimate, and propably place the Powder kegs down, I don't think GP keeps all those barrels in his piratepants :P)
