Champions who have mobility in abilities should have slower movement speed

xJLx MCHammer··45 votes·3,078 views

It doesn't have to be a huge difference. 5, maybe 10 at most. This way, the champion that has the mobility spells should use them but while on cooldown, have some sort of punishment.

So you are saying that dive fighters should not be able to ever run away from juggernauts?

That is reeking of unhealthy counters given dive fighters are not given the best ways out and generally don't have the damage of juggernauts.

IF THEY HAVE MOBILITY, they should use it to distance themselves...

The only issue is that some champions would not mobility would be a bit stronger... like darius...

Overall, I do think it would be so much more healthier for the game.

Irelia Bot14 votes

I don't

Juggernauts sacrifice mobility for damage and being tankier

Movement speed is part of mobility.

Sounds fine and dandy until you are playing a champ that can not ward hop and their only moment is a targeted gap closer.

Should panth and Xin be slower than Darius and Illaio?

outliers will exist. CMy post is mostly meant for champions like Vi, Lee, LB..etc.

Shadow Hazard5 votes

you realize vi isn't particularly fast plus the fact that her dash slows her down during the wind up, you should have probably narrowed the point of the post down to the champs with multiple or low cool down mobility spells

A quick list of champions with Dashes and Flashes that can not use said Dashes and Flashes to escape efficiently or without losing some major function of their mobility.

Zac XinZhao MonkeyKing Warwick Urgot TwistedFate Thresh Taliyah TahmKench Rengar Renekton Poppy Pantheon Nocturne MasterYi Maokai Malphite Leona Kled Katarina Jayce Ivern Irelia Fiddlesticks Elise Diana AurelionSol Amumu Alistar.

You need to answer for every single one of these champions before we continue on this train of thought.

EDIT:

Oh yeah, no cheating. You can't reference how Zac wants to dive into a fight or how Jayce's E peels for him. This thread is about mobility and mobility only since you choose to ignore my other comment.

Ahri Camille Ezreal Fizz Kassadin Katarina LeeSin Leblanc Khazix Riven Camille Maybe it's because I did not classify what kind of an ability. Zac has a dash that is used for engage. It has a 20+ second cooldown. Compare it to LB who can use double dash forward.. or Lee..or even Ahri..

There is, at least for me, a clear difference. Some champions have abilities that grant them a dash that they will likely use once in a fight; while others like LB, Fiz, Lee, Ahri can use their mobility multiple times in a short fight. These types of champions should have a small penalty to their MS. Mainly because by having smaller movement speed, there are more windows where they might have to use their ability to catch than just stick to their target. A LB might have to W rather than dodge the Anivia's Q coming...etc.

It's not a huge nerf but i do think it helps. This is the same line of thinking on how a champion with huge mobility shouldn't have the same overall damage as a nonmobile one. Sure, there are exceptions but that is like a general rule you should follow

TehNACHO12 votes

Okay, so what you're telling me is:

Maybe mobility isn't a binary problem and there are other factors to consider when balancing how fast a champion can move.

Which means the point of this entire thread is now pointless.

Added point: Azir

We want to make him even slower?

TyrekGoldenspear6 votes

^^^ He's already at the floor of MS iirc. :(

no to toxic1 votes

Break his legs remove his wings and nerf his W dmg more until he stops being obnoxious to gank.

TyrekGoldenspear2 votes

How about instead you stop ganking him? Gank someone else for Sol's sake.

I am tired of you junglers coming to gank me, wasting your time and mine, because I use my high cooldown dash to get away from you, and you'll never catch me.

Divewing1 votes

Silly junglers think they can stop us scaling xD

Ahri's MS is already 330, and her primary mobility is her R. Notice how almost every other champ you listed is melee.

Ralanr3 votes

Doesn't she get MS from hitting with her Q?

NineTailedMystic1 votes

Her Q gives 215 bonus movement speed that decays down to 80 over .5 seconds and persists until the orb returns to her.

Ralanr1 votes

Which is enough for kiting imo.

Not saying she's overpowered (though I can't say I like fighting her).

TyrekGoldenspear1 votes

Aw come on, she's quite charming to fight.

NineTailedMystic2 votes

I don't understand your point though. Are you saying she should be 325 MS? Or that her Q is her primary mobility and not her R?

If it's the former, that would make her utterly reliant on her Q which firstly, is a mechanic she shouldn't have ever gotten and secondly, bad design. It'd be like Lissandra's Mana costs being absurd just because her passive gives a free spell every so often, or Sion's base HP being pitiful because he can farm it.

Wat

Only thing he has that's even vaguely mobility-related is his ult, and I have never seen a TF successfully use his ult in a combat situation for anything other than a GTFO move.

TehNACHO1 votes

What TFs are you playing with? The vast majority of them use their ultimate as a Skirmish Initiating tool.

That's the risk of playing a dive champion! You can dive and choose the fights on your terms, but you don't get a redo.

"I choose all the fights" with "I made a mistake, gonna reset this shit pce" turn into Yasuo Fizz LeeSin

Your 'way out' is the choice of not making a poor engage.

Irelia Bot2 votes

This actually means that you can not poke and you can not even CS without lossing half you health if facing a juggernaut.

Yasuo and Fizz are not divers.

Meanwhile... Mordekaiser Base MS: 325 Hmm...

Mira Arya Enthe4 votes

Good. Some of his only counterplay is staying out of his range. Same for most Juggernauts in fact.

TehNACHO3 votes

There are other factors to balancing a champion than just their long term movement speed and short term dashes and flashes.

MuffledGarbage1 votes

you almost have to agree that if Mordekaiser had dashes that he'd be a lot more fun to play and a lot more balanced due to him having an ACTUAL gapcloser instead of being forced to rely on a crappy item 3116 20% slow and a crappyitem 3152 dash every 40 seconds

if he had a gapcloser the world would burn in flames. morde's problem is that he can SHIT on anyone that can run away from him. at level 1. Q does almost 1/2 of someones hp. if you take full ad runes and run a long sword. it does more than 1/2 their hp. and if you finish 1 ad item. you can 100-0 a squishy with a 5 second cooldown ability. jesus he would be cancer against melees than he is already

I don't even play against morde. last time i played against him. was approximately last winter. jeez like 6 months ago

Guys, something happened at RIOT HQ! They have been taken over or something. No way they would finaly nerf LC$ Lee Sin in a meaningfull way... We have to go and save RIOT...

Sub 45% for a ludicrously popular champion where he is close to be in 1 of 2 matches.

Popularity always should mean lower winrate.

TEA Nietzsche 2 votes

This is kinda like Lissandra's passive: gives a mana free ability, but her mana reg is shit. Not satisfying at all.

The thing is, mobile champions are supposed to be mobile, others are supposed to be immobile. Your problem is that you view it as if mobile champions wouldn't have to sacrifice anything for their mobility - but they do, they are balanced around being mobile. Anivia is supposed to be slow while Fiora is supposed to be quick so that she can proc her vitals. That's why Anivia controls such a large area with her CC and wall while Fiora would have to somehow get into that area. Now imagine what would happen if Anivia could just run away without even using her CC - ??

Shadòw2 votes

that is some kind of advanced BS

PokladnicaZla2 votes

I wouldn't have a problem with hyper mobility,if their damage/CC/sustain/durability were weaker in that case,but mostly aren't.

NineTailedMystic3 votes

Mobility with nothing to do with it is pointless.

Nielarken2 votes

Then what would be the reason for having no mobility? What is the benefit? It use to be extra damage spell but now every mobility spell has damage baked right by in.

Mira Arya Enthe3 votes

If mobility had no tradeoffs then immobile champions would not be extremely common in all tiers of play. Ashe is often a better pick than Vayne and Vlad often a better pick than Riven. There are tradeoffs.

I have to disagree.Ashe is much riskier pick than Vayne. The only instances Ashe is better is when she's stronger compared to other ADCs.

Again,you're missing my point.

If a champion has high mobility it's fine. If a champion has 3 CCs it's fine. If a champ has high burst it's still fine. If a champ is really durable it's fine.

It becomes a problem whe a champion excells at all of those.

If mind a high mobility+burst champion, but that lacks CC and durability.

If you play immobile mage;you're immobile and squshy, but have high damage and likely CC. Most mobile champs seem not to follow this pattern.

Mira Arya Enthe1 votes

Nobody has 3 CCs, mobility, burst and durability...

And there are dozens more balancing levers than those four.

I was giving an example which was just simplification of balance.

New Maokai has 4 CCs,a gapcloser, damage and durability.
