LongHair Fox1 votesTrundle, malphite, olaf all outlane her and beat her ass at what they want to do. For malphite it is teamfights for the others it is skermishes and splitting. There is no true counters against her so don't expect to do everything better but those two can beat her.
If you are going for matchups that require you to actually do something there is Nunu (slightly troll though, but there is nothing irelia can do in lane), fizz, darius, maokai, nasus, tryndamere, and udyr. Those are not as solid but they are favorable in lane and then either become better midgame at what they do, or outscale her for lategame.

Dryditch1 votesI was talking about old champ select, not DQ/SQ. In old champ select, in case you forgot, the first player on each team had all three bans. Now three people per team each have one ban, which is a more fair distribution of bans.

I'd disagree with that. They got the chance to ban not you. I know it's not fair that only 3 out of the 5 get to ban but if in their opinion the champion they banned is more game changing then even if it's not, they get to ban him since they were the ones given the opportunity to ban. For me, i play squishy supports and i find it kidna hard to dodge a good blitz's pulls so i always ask for him to be banned. I personally think i would lose lane if im against a good blitz but if my teammates don't ban him because they want to ban ashe for example, id respect that because if they think they'll lose the game against an ashe, even if it's not game changing for you it is for them, and again they got the right to ban.
At the end its best if the team just agrees on the ban, there are 3 champions you get to ban, one of the players should be nice enough to ban your champion
