Soraka is too team reliant, but a flat buff would just overpower her.
Just a thought here to make Soraka a little bit less team reliant, but something to change her a little bit.
Reasoning:
I love Soraka, but being team reliant can have a giant drawback if your team doesn't know how to handle your abilities right. I can totally see how a flat buff would make a big impact on winrate, and I think she is in a pretty good spot but could use a bit of something extra.
Since she is the star child I thought it would make sense that she could honor or pay respect to different star signs. Say at the fountain there can be 3-4 different altars available (or something similar) that Soraka could use to alter her abilities. This would be a change to her passive mostly, though it obviously would change her abilities some too.
Right now Soraka has [P] MS to an ally with low health/0 casting time for abilities, [Q] a slow/damage/heal/MS buff, [W] allied heal, [E] a silence/root and [R] a heal. Now, I love her Q, but the W requires an allied champion nearby, so does her passive, and the R is both global and includes Soraka herself. Without an allied champion nearby Soraka is hindered quite a bit since her W requires some nearby.
So, onto the idea:
A set of altars in the fountain for Soraka to honor or pay respect to, each one granting a different buff. The buff would be obvious, such as by a glowing stone on the staff, or something similar, and there would be a color for each (like red blue or green). Only one buff would be active at a time, and once an altar has been used it can't be re-used for 90 seconds. The buffs would last 15 minutes, with an increasing bonus each minute for the first 5 minutes and fade in an opposite manner the last 5 minutes (this would encourage players to stick with a single type of buff longer and someone couldn't quickly change between them).
Ideas for buffs (numbers are just guesses):
- 1-5% CDR (can go beyond CDR cap)
- Burn damage for 1-5% of damage dealt
- 5-25% MS
- 7-15 Armor/MR (5 base + 2/min)
And since the buffs would give an advantage they would also reduce Soraka's health regeneration by 1-5%, similar to how Spirit visage increases all healing received, this would just be a flat reduction to total health regeneration.
I know the numbers might be drastic and they probably are, but I didn't really want to try and calculate something more accurate. But the idea would be that she would have a trade-off for healing herself similar to how her W uses 10% of her current health as a cost. I think this would also allow for a rewrite of her lore since it needs to be done anyway since Warwick doesn't fit in it anymore. Something with Sol would be cool.
Anyway, try not to tear me apart too bad, it was just an idea.
