Magus is numerically stronger than Warrior (more gold-efficiency), it is just that most APs lack an efficient and sustainable way to convert bonus AP and CdR into increased clear speeds - exceptions being ones like

It'll just be like in Season 4. Spirit of the Elder Lizard was strong at first, so those who could use it were strong (Rengar, Kha, Lee Sin, Vi, J4). Then they buffed Spirit of the Ancient Golem and Rengar/Lee Sin/J4/Vi/Elise used it and stayed on top. It's not the item that really matters. If they believe this, then they are running in circles without looking at the core problem (champion kits and generalist being too strong).
