What the fuck is up with Brands W?

Its almost impossible to dodge, costs almost no mana, and deals so freaking much damage. Why isnt Brand being nerfed????

Going to play devil's advocate here by backing up OP's post with a simple fact

Brand's W has a 250 radius that explodes after a .625 delay. In order to dodge this WITH PERFECT PREDICTION, you need 401 move speed. Meaning he can just cast this hovering over your character and it WILL hit you if you have less than that. Many characters don't even exceed 395 movement speed with boots.

If you aren't predicting it, but are playing with a super human reaction time of 0.18 seconds, you need 567 movement speed or an equivalent dash.

A realistic, but trained reaction speed would be something like .25 seconds, meaning that dodging the move on reaction WHEN YOU'RE LOOKING SPECIFICALLY FOR IT requires 667 movement speed or an equivalent dash.

You're basing this off the fact that he's standing completely still and he's deadcenter in the middle of the W.

Both of these things happening at the same time is highly unlikely.

Well then maybe i'm just shitty at brand, because I've never found his W to be THAT easy to land.

Ah.

I see you've recently been dumpstered by a Brand.

Let me try and help you as much as I can.

Dodging: You were playing Corki so maybe use W to dodge his.

Mana cost: Brand was building both Rod of Ages and Luden's Echo, both of them heavy mana items. Of course he was able to cast it alot.

Damage: (almost) Everyone deals a lot of damage when they're fed. You feeding him that first blood and your Yi giving him another kill after only made him stronger. Besides, you rushed pure damage instead of an MR item and you were playing on a generally squishy champion so that should obviously be a dead giveaway that he's going to deal a lot of damage to you.

IMO Brand doesn't need any nerfs. Besides, you can always just ban him if he becomes to frustrating to fight against.

Lmao and he was playing Corky, imagine if played as an inmobile champ.

Lmao, Corki's W costs 100 mana at lvl 1 and has higher CD than Brands W

As a brand main i want to pat on your back. W is hard to dodge just makes me chuckle alone. They don't have an issue with his ult lel, which they should be having an issue with if they even did have one.

I agree that it needs a mana cost increase. +20 mana at all levels would be enough to stop him from spamming it willy nilly early on.

Holy. I've always found the mana cost of W to be well balanced. It costs quite a bit early! Until you at least get lost chapter (or your RoA sub item) you can't throw them out too often to poke, given that it is your primary wave clear ability. Yes the ability does do pretty good damage, but that's why your opponent should be rushing boots to making dodging much easier.

Right up until he goes down into bot lane. Now he doesn't have to spend mana to farm, and his natural regen+Spell Thief is more than enough to pay for his maniacal pot shots.

I'd be more than happy to see Brand given better AP scaling in order to kick that cancer out of bot lane.

I agree BRAND SUPPORT is somewhat cancer to deal with. You basically need ganks early given that they have no peel. Super annoying to deal with. It's pretty rare when I win lane vs Brand support.

I saw people dodging it with ease, it deals damage because....he's a mage, he should deal dmg (???) and it it spends a good amount of mana actually, but because of the runes he has a lot of mana regen. Only issue is his range, a slight nerf to it won't hurt, but other than that, react to him faster and you will dodge a lot more.

.... It costs like 1/4th his mana pool....

TrikzterzArma1 votes

No it doesnt

Maybe late game full build, but early game its pretty much his entire pool. He can get 1 maybe 2 rotations before he is oom, and his W alone is nearly 100 mana.

it is more like 1/7 or 1/8

My only problem with Brand is he gets too much free dmg which makes him extremely strong as support(too strong). Him being able to deal a lot of dmg is not a problem he is a burst mage afterall, the problem is he does it with very little AP items.

A while back Annie had the same problem and they nerfed her base dmg and AA range but Brand is untouched.
