Black Cleaver Stacking is back

I wasn't around when it was a thing a long time ago but I did hear about. Thanks to the transcendence rune, its back again and don't know whether its a healthy interaction or not. I'm leaning more on the side that it isn't, but I'm not a 100% for sure.

I have a pretty good suggestion to stop this interaction though if it isn't considered healthy. To make the adaptive passive of the rune to not count more than once the bonus CDR of an identical item.

Easiest solution, if it is a problem, is to make the 20% cdr on BC unique.

There's really no evidence that this is a very strong strategy. Black Cleaver isn't amazingly efficient when you don't count its passives, and its efficiency is still just OK when you factor in the transcendence conversion (final efficiency is 110%). These champions could instead be going Death's Dance for a different kind of survivability + AD + sustain, they could certainly get more raw damage out of duskblade or edge of night, melee champions could grab Sterakk's Gage which can be up to 117% gold efficient before counting its massive survivability steroid, it really just seems like these are cases of fed champions winning in spite of a suboptimal build simply because they're fed.

Squishies just get one shotted by bruisers with 4kHP and 400AD from all those cleavers+transcendence lol

It also makes item 3165 into a 140 AP item, or a 152 AP item if you have item 3040

Stacking intensifies.

Transcendence is gonna cause a AD tank meta soon lol I guess this is basically the new atmogs setup now.

Try item 3748 + item 3071 + item 3071 + item 3071 + item 3071 on Darius for alot of fun lol

Black Cleaver stacking (and maybe Morellonomicon) is actually the only way this runes is mathematically any good. With 5 Black Cleavers (because you need boots, lets be honest here) along with Transcendence's +10% you end up with +70% CDR over the cap, that gives you 84 extra AD through Transcendence. With all 5 Black Cleavers you end up with +284 AD and +2000 HP with 40% CDR. On paper this is very good, however you are also sacrificing armor and MR which are important stats for anyone stacking that much HP. You are also sacrificing the ability benefits from other items in order to reach this stage. While yes the stats are great from what you get, you lose far to much as a result.

In addition, you need to hit level 10 before this rune's base 10% even kicks in which means this is also the most delayed in power rune outside of Gathering Storm because it's extremely rare for anyone to hit level 10 around 10 minutes. The next step is actually getting the 15000 gold required to get all 5 cleavers, with how the game is right now chances are you will only get 4 Cleavers max before the game ends let alone max build 5.

So in summery, while in lower tiers of play this could be seen as a MAYBE viable option, higher tiers of play this interaction won't stand a chance because of how easily it's worked around with higher tier builds. Any form of % max HP damage will shred you like wet toilet paper (Ruin King, Mundo, Kog'Maw, Fiora, Vayne, etc etc).

League of Black cleaver is when I first started playing and the first champion I learned was garen. Needless to say, I had a blast building the same item over and over as a noob lol
