Is it really me? Am i this bad?

I feel like I am stuck in this "elo hell" solo Q. I am gold 5 and got as high as gold 3, with promos to gold 2. Since my drop, I have been sitting at the very bottom of gold 5 and can barely muster up 3, MAYBE 4 wins. MAYBE. Most of the time it's L L L L W W L L L WW L L L W. Something to that effect. Now I would really like to improve myself which I am working on but, how much of this losing is actually me? Sometimes I feel like I have a solid game (support or jungle) yet we still lose. I roam, help others, make calls, all that stuff. Nothing seems to work. Lately I've been getting stomped like 3 - 4 in a row (all lanes losing badly) then barely scrape by one win to hang with some LP. It definitely effects my play as I notice my decisions are forced / terrible. So I try to take a break but end up with the same outcome. Anyone else having this issue? How to you overcome this? Best role to carry? Help a fellow support/jungler.

isn't this part of the problem? You thinking and worrying about it too much and tilting?

Well, according to op.gg, I'm Silver 4, so you may ignore me, but I do have some good advice, just in case your willing to listen.

  1. Make a champion pool, and use those champs only in ranked. Master them.
  2. If on tilt, go to norms. It'll make you feel better.
  3. Think of champions of dread facing, or haven't figured out how to play against. Try get that champion banned. For me, I dread facing Volibear, so I make it a priority to ban him.
  4. Find your main, and spam it (after mastering it, of course.) And that's all I have for you.

Thanks. I don't care what rank anyone is. If it's solid advice I'll take it. Again, thanks!

its only after we've have lost everything we're free to do anything. Stop trying to control everything and just let go! LET GO! Fuck damnation, man! Fuck redemption! We are RIOT's unwanted children? So be it!

the best thing you can do til you are able to dedicate more time to the game is improve at fundamentals of the game. such as last hitting, wave control, map control , warding, objectives. if you stop worrying about winning and focus on those with simple mechanical champs by default you will climb. at 1st you will lose when you focus on those objectives. but in the long run that will make you a better player and being a better player will help you climb out of bronze/silver . there is so much to this game, its alot more then being able to 1 vs 1 your enemy. its damage foresight , knowing match ups, cooldowns, when you can push advantages, when you cant. how not to feed. how to get feed. how to position correctly.

now if you just want to climb and gain elo you can learn the new champs each month spam those til they are nerfed or other champs buffed to counter them and abuse that. but that wont directly have the long term improvement as the fundamentals.

GOOD NEWS: its ok have fun , its a game. majority of players on league are bad since 70% of players are silver and bronze. even a few of those golds and low plats are just good enough to realize they are bad, the good players typically are around diamond 3 and up.

Yeah I definitely need to improve my jungle fundamentals. I love jungle but pretty much only use yi, trynd or voli. So I need to be on point. I'm not the type to use the "what's in" champs. I use my champs because I genuinely like them. Kinda screws me I guess. You're right though, maybe if I change my mentality to having fun again as opposed to strictly winning, I'd have a turn around for the better. Sometimes I just get salty knowing we could have won many of these matches yet end up on the losing end. Then my fun stops. I'll work on that "having fun" mentality though. Thank you for your response.

at least you are at a point where you are good enough to know you make mistakes. i get it im not every gonna be plat or diamond, im an average player who has good and bad games, i dont even rank anymore i jsut dont care. i play to game to enjoy the game. losing is always frustrating but that comes and goes. what i lack in mechanical skills sometimes i make up for with game knowledge. and i know the champs you mention MasterYi Tryndamere as you climb they are weaker. and you can most likely can see if not know why. so maybe as you try to improve you play more well rounded champs that arent so linear in gameplay.

because when it come down to it , its objective and map control that wins the games and as a jungler / support player you should be the one that has the most control of that. both those roles while inherently arent reliant on carrying games and their play style seems straight forward the fact that you have to be aware of more then just one lane you have to be aware of the entire map.

yes I have same thing as do everyone below plat they said specifically in a video earlier this year they don't care about low elo...they say they have a matchmaking system but they truly don't don't let there lies full u....this is by far the most stressfull game ever to come out...most of it is due to riots lack of matchmaking...u have to dynamic que to take some of that stress off...its too team oriented u can even watch lcs game soon as team gets ahead to much ur chance coming back is like 1% maybe...they need to make better way to come back from getting stomped early game..and needs to make some system were if a suppoort isn't sighstone warding, and ward clearing in ranks there mmr drops, players constantly getting killed with no allies around, are wards, late game rank...mmr needs to drop, if player isn't dodging least couple skill shots every so many games starting out, should be every game.....mmr needs to drop....thatwill help little bit keeping those not so smart people more together and the f off my team...ty riot tip ur waitress plz

I noticed my kill participation is 48% according to op.gg. Should that be a lot higher, especially as a support player?

yea typically you should be over 50% i have games where i have 55-70% kill participation. but im playing normals. when you play a champ like yi or tryn you arent gonna because to be as high unless you are hyper carrying, because as yi and tryn your are trying to take out 1 target. typically jungler should be higher then 50% as well. think about if you gank and you and the laner secure a kill who ever gets the kill you still get kill participation.

i typically dont play jungle carries i like Amumu Malphite Maokai Nunu so i dont care if i get kills as long as i get the asst and i can get my laners fed. if i am ahead and i gank a lane that is losing( yes i do this most jungler ignore someone who is losing) and we get a kill i will purposely give the kill to the laner. it helps them more then me getting kill.

think of it like this that 300 gold to them when behind can catch them up make them even and when all 5 roles are even or ahead you have a great chance of winning game. but if you ignore top lane when they go 0-3 and you gank and kill the enemy top laner that doesnt help as much as if you let your laner get the kill. not only does the gold help the experience but the mental side of it maybe that makes them un/not tilt. makes them see you are being a team player so they are willing to be a team player. instead of the solo queue mentality of ME ME ME i have to carry, my kda and cs is what matters. think of the game like chess and not checkers. the checker would be youre bad im good i get the kill im gonna carry , which is narrow minded, where the chess move would be setting up for a check mate, that being giving the kill to the laner , boosting them, making them untilt, and as a team you get strong and win. does any of this make sense or is just a bunch of pointless ramble?

Ben SwoIo2 votes

No it makes perfect sense. That's exactly what my thinking was. "They are bad, I'm good, so I should carry." With Yi / Trynd, I just go in and try to get me some kills. That way, I rely on myself to carry and not them. It is probably hurting me a lot right now. I was thinking of going to a jungler who offers more of a support, where I am more team oriented as opposed to "me me me". I feel like my gold mentality has slipped and I'm too concerned with my own k/d as opposed to what's best for the team. Thanks.

It looks like you're going through a bit of a rough patch which, as i'm sure you're aware, can put you on tilt and make it really hard to play to your potential.

A lot of this comes from caring a bit too much about the outcome. This is otherwise known as ranked anxiety.

I would take a few days break from league, and then play a few days of normals to recover from the break. Usually works wonders for me when i'm in a tough spot.

Also, just as a note, you have a few /really/ feast or famine champions in your main pool that are also pretty high skill required to play to their potential. I would suggest focusing more on the Thresh, Morg, and Volibear. ...if nothing else at LEAST until you recover your MMR back to where it belongs.

Wow, gold 5? I genuinely think that you should be happy about your ''rank'', since not that much people can even cross the Silver elo borderline. Honestly though, nobody really cares about Ranked anymore. It's just......not that important. Yeah, sometimes people do really bad in Ranked, other times Ms. Luck just seemed to be sitting on their lap. I recommend just playing Blind Pick and just enjoy the game. Play with friends. The point in LoL is to just relax and chill and make friends and those kind of things, not being extremely competitive and stress over something like ''rankings'' and shit like that. Doing extremely bad and everybody's salty? Take a break and eat some pizzas! Feeding like crazy because your body is numb-er than sleeping 8 hours straight on your right leg and it feels like Zeus dabbing on your leg and doing kage bunshin no jutsu? Leave the room and get fresh airs, do those exercise thingy that you jump, squat, push-ups, squash, then jump up again and repeat. Stretch!

Ever since I first played LoL, the moment I hit level 30, I was super excited to play Ranked and thought I was one of those ''naturally-talented LCS-level LoL player'' and played my first 10 ranked game. Ploop, 0 W 10 L, 10 games straight of master yi without a break, salted, reported, dead. I got extremely depressed and cried for days while making pepe memes. A year later, tried again. Horrible internet, since my mom ''recently'' plopped out a son, this geeky bro of mine uses insane amount of internet. iPad, toys, xBox, auto fish aquarium, it's ridiculous how spoiled he is. All I need is a computer, internet, and Fruit Snacks to keep me alive, while this kid needs more than a nuclear radioactive factory can produce.

Anyway, as both game dropped me down into Bronze 5 like an atomic bomb, I knew my gaming career as a LoL player was over and I should go back to the path of creating the pure Meme-losopher's Stone. But, a spark of hope was borned. My friends. Families. Cousins. Chihuahua. Doggo does a hope. I realized this game wasn't about how good you are or how better you are comparing to other players. This game isn't being the best (nor it's being the worst, either). It's about having FUN (mb if that's a bit cheesy y0), and laughs and be untroubled. To temporarily escape from reality and pleasured in virtual reality. Ever since, I decided to **never play Ranked again. Ever. ** It's just a waste of time, people misjudging me and thinking those 10 stupid games will decided my 1000 matches.

What people doesn't realizes, is that those pointless 10 games, out of your countless efforts and time putted into League, those 10 pesky little games doesn't tell them the story about you. The routes you take. The smile you've had. The tears you've flowned. The keyboards you've smashed out of anger as broken mages 100 to 0 one-shotted you. Remember, there's no way a few nuisance Ranked games determines who you really are. Find a friend, someone special, share lots and lots of moments with them. And they'll be the one that you dears the most, share memories the most, knows your true self the most. Rank. Does. Not. Matter. Period. _ ''Kids these days. They think it's a competition to have the most friends. ONE is enough. Even if it's just one person, find someone COMPLETE UNIQUE.''_ -Yato from Noragami Yasuo

Gold and above seem to have the problem of " L L L L W W L L L WW L L L W" this season...

Ben SwoIo1 votes

I appreciate all the comments guys. I've taken a step back and gone to norms as advised. I'm trying to hit that "fun" factor in the game again. I was definitely getting ranked anxiety, as the losses kept piling up along with the pressure to win. My biggest thing was I had my sights set on Plat this season and I actually felt like I could hit it. Doesn't seem like it, but then again I never formed a game plan to fix my mistakes and improve myself. I just.....kept playing. Watched a few videos but nothing more than that. Anyway, norms is where it's at for me right now. I won't be stressing off this anymore. I get enough stress from work. Haha. Thanks.
