Tired of banning Yasuo

Ben SwoIo··55 votes·4,811 views

So I didn't ban him this match and of course, I got worked. Reminded me why I always ban him, along with the fact that this guy kept taunting and bming like a typical Yasuo player. It's like it wasn't bad enough I was having a bad match, he felt the need to rub it in as if he's cool or impressive for playing Yasuo. We forfeit and he says "ggez". Go figure. He definitely earned his report.

Anyway, I'm done venting. I would like to be able to crush any Yasuo player and hold my own in lane. I'm normally playing Zed Talon Veigar Morgana , none of which I feel are strong against him. Maybe I'm mis-playing them in the match up though. You guys got any tips? Maybe a better champ pick for him?

Ps: I'm talking about strictly lane phase not in team fights.

Morg is just fine into him He'll never be able to ult you in lane and all you really do is just clear waves with W If he dashes onto you that should be an easy Q hit

If you want an easy time against him just pick something like Annie, the lane is roughly equal early on but you autowin post-6

Zedex9 votes

Man, if Yasuo dashes onto you don't blow your Q right away. I guarantee he's gonna pop his wall when he see's you wind up to throw that thing. Then what're you gonna do?

GULAG 4 U2 votes

Can't pop wall during E.

Packun Flower15 votes

And Riot wants to BUFF him. Not nerf. Not rework like they sdid they would. They want to BUFF him.

Ben SwoIo26 votes

Wtf?? Seriously? Why on EARTH would they buff him? I already think it's stupid they buffed up Fizz, now Yasuo?

Packun Flower19 votes

Yeah its true. Here is the buffs they want to give him.

Magic Resist increased from 30 to 32.1 MR per Level increased from .50 to 1.25 Way of the Wanderer (Passive) shield changed from 100-510 to 60-555*

Why? Because Riots balance teams sense of balance is twisted and corrupt.

Velzard of Koz7 votes

Now, now, while I agree Yasuo is obnoxious and understand anyone who bans him, the buffs are logical - they are trying to make him good against Mages mid so that he's less top. I don't like it either, but these changes are not that groundbreaking.

FantasySniper2 votes

You see, there's a huge problem with that: It's a straight up buff to remove a weakness.

They're not nerfing his strengths. Or trying to create other opportunities to counter him. It's just a straight up buff.

GULAG 4 U4 votes

They're nerfing his levels 1-2?

lol?

Its funny how riot can nerf a champion call it a buff and comunity ll believe THEM

Reducing his shield strenght is a buff now? Because he get s bit more MR? The amount of MR they give him is NORMAL for melee champions. Yasuo used to have very weak MR.

All of those champs beat Yasuo pretty easily especially Talon and Morg. As Talon all you gotta do is use your W to get 2 passive stacks on him and then Q auto for the bleed to get him low and rinse and repeat + ignite to kill him for first blood. Don't let him bait you with his shield or windwall otherwise he can kill you and snowball. Once you kill him just snowball off of that kill, roam bot for more easy kills, and win the game. Before you go in on him always bait out his windwall with W. Making the mistake of going in on him while his windwall is up will just get you killed and lose you the lane.

For Morg just clear waves with W and keep your distance from your own minion wave so he has a hard time dashing to you. If he lands a Q and ults to you it's basically a free kill because you can immediately Q him out of his ult, press R and W, and then do all of his health for a kill. If you don't think you can win, then just afk farm with W and don't go for kills because a farmed up Morg that can land bindings is much scarier than a farmed up Yasuo that dies if the enemy team sneezes on him.

For Zed you wanna just poke him down and once you get him low you can all in him at level 6. Pre 6 you wanna be careful about engaging. If he's standing near your W at low health then you can swap shadows and auto for the passive damage + e + ignite for a kill. Bait his windwall before all inning him or you have a good chance of losing. Sometimes what I like to do is fight him, but hold my ult until he has his 3rd charge of Q and then ult him right as he presses Q so the knockup misses and he's screwed. Takes good timing to do it though so it can be risky.

Veigar just ignore him and use E if he ever dashes onto you. Ask your jungler for ganks for a kill if you want. Just afk farm and outscale him. Don't fight him when his windwall is up.

Fools Hesltate1 votes

Any Yasuo that gets hit by a Morgana Q is awful at the game. It should be literally impossible.

Akali is SO HOT2 votes

It's actually not that hard. If the Yasuo is good then it'll be harder to do, but against most players if they get in your face, then landing a binding isn't that hard considering it's hitbox is bigger than a whale. Yasuo isn't immune to projectiles like most people think he is. Get rid of that mentality and he's not hard to hit with projectiles at all.

Allow me to help:

Morg, waveclear and save your Q to when he tries to engage on you, use shield on his nado, if he ults you you ult him, your ult range is large enough to keep him there even if he has minions to dash (also your ult slow hurts his dash speed, making it even more difficult to escape);

Zed: play safe the first two lvls, use your Q to farm and to poke him, save your ult to dodge his nado since he needs to hit it to ult you, be careful to avoid having his WW block your Q, especially if you are all-ining;

Talon: Skill match-up, both have strong lvl2 so most of the times depends on who wins the 1v1 here, I recommend you use your W once to remove his shield, and all-in him when his shields down, or if he tries to play aggressive, auto him and then use your melee Q in him;

Veigar: There isn't much you can do in this match-up really, play safe and stack, be careful to not get hit by his nado if he is inside your cage, because he can ult you without getting stunned (his ult is a blink, therefore is not stopped by your E), and then you won't have CC to stop him. The only way you are going to kill him is if he gets misplays and gets stunned, then he should be easy to kill. (I recommend putting a few points in E, to increase his stun duration, so you can combo him without the risk of him breaking free of the stun and using WW to block your ult.).

Also get armor yellows and exhaust on morg and veig(seeker's armguard aldo helps). Tabi's if you are losing with zed or talon.

Talon Shits all over Yasuo in lane, what are you doing that gets you wrecked? Zed Is considered widely to be an unfavourable matchup for Yasuo and if you're losing as Zed against Yasuo you probably deserve to. Yasuo shits on Veigar , he does so against every immobile mage, Veigar however has a larger advantage post-6 because of that ult. Morgana binding is the size of a truck, and completely shuts down Yasuo doing pretty much anything including casting his ult.

As an assassin, you can punish his aggression in laning phase almost 100%. As a mage, play like a bitch and farm until you can just one-shot him.

Zedex6 votes

Her binding is also the easiest thing to Windwall in the game.

Seriously, Morg's matchup is about knowing Yasuo better than knowing herself, because shes extremely binary and easy to outplay as Yasuo.

DuskDaUmbreon2 votes

And her Q also has less than half the cooldown of his windwall. Even if he blocks the first one, you can land a second one (and possibly a third) before his W is even up again.

HeeroTX3 votes

Morg's binding is pretty easy to dodge and Windwall can block it REALLY late. So honestly, if you need to Windwall more than 50% of Morg's bindings, that's all on the Yasuo player.

Well, Yasuo generally can outplay the Zed and the Talon with a well placed wall and dashing around. If he buys later armor, he can outduel them too. These matchups are most of the time decided by the jungler.

Actually Yasuo beats Zed until 6 and then it turns into a skill match up. It's mostly decided by who plays around Yasuo's W better.

EndlessSorcerer2 votes

I don't particularly care.

It's hilarious to watch them whine about any champion capable of shutting them down with point-and-click CC.

Mechanical skill isn't the only (or even the most important) skill in the game. I find how much some players overvalue it to be entertaining.

Skorch5 votes

So just so you know i feel like i am an avid enough Yasuo player to comment on this. I am currently M6, he is my highest mastery score champion. However that is not saying a lot since i rarely have more than 3 games of the same champion in any 20 game set so...

Anyway How to beat Yasuo: Yasuo is an insane Mid Game bully who has the tools he needs to survive lane. Late game he is only a REAL threat if your team gets picked or he gets a REALLY good ult. In teamfights he just either gets CC and explodes or just flat explodes. So we will focus on the other 2.

Laning Phase: Zed is a skill matchup. You can easily poke out his shield with Q since it does reduced damage through minions anyway. And as long as you are landing your Shadows Qs and Ws as well as your own you will out damage him. Also try to use your shadow to stay out of range of his Q unless you are going in for the kill. Talon IMO is the worst out of the 4, Talon just gets bullied really easy in most lanes. He survives off of roaming so do just that DO NOT FIGHT YASUO. Yasuos are usually more than content with farming until powerspike but they will take free kills. Just dont give him the opportunity for it. A farm-fed Yasuo is much less scary mid-late than a 7/0 farm-fed Yasuo. So yeah just roam and help other lanes and just try to not let Yas take your tower. Veigar A lot of people hate Vei into Yas but i love it. His E makes it really hard for Yas to get a good engage on you. The most important thing is if you get hit by a tornado after 6, Flash or Barrier that shit instantly (If you have barrier) Because the second he gets done Ulting you hes gonna want to stay on you and you WILL die. Also no matter how far away he dashes he cant outrun Veigar R, just MAKE 100% SURE that his windwall is down before you use it. If you dont, then it is 100% on you and not the windwall being in his kits fault. Morgana Pop shield with W, Ult him if he goes in and you have it. If he engages let him eat them easy Qs. If you have good enough reflexes E his tornado. He should be pretty frustrated if you do it right, and will probably fuck up and dive you.

Mid game: CC CC CC CC CC. Yasuo should be your main focus unless he is like 0/8. If he gets into your backline he WILL 3-4 shot your carries. Luckily Yasuo is incredoubly weak to CC being a melee carry. If he IS 0/8 he will probably try to split or farm to make up for his gold deficit use this time to secure objectives, fight 5v4, or just keep 2 man killing him. Be warned if he is 0/8 but has his crit, dont underestimate him like a lot of people do.

Late game: By now Yasuo will be kinda tanky, but will lose a bit of damage because of it. He will probably 4-6 shot your carries still as well. However he can still die fairly quickly with most CCs. DO NOT 1V1 HIM EVER. Send at LEAST 3 people with 1 or 2 hard CC spells in order to stop him if hes alone. This is the same with most good duelers who are split pushing. Fiora Jax XinZhao all are weak to this too.

As for items if you are a tank item 3143 item 3047 will just make him cry. As well as pretty much any armor item on any squishy will make you take at least 1 extra attack to kill. If CCd properly he should only get 3 or 4 off per fight anyway.

Note if Yasuo is 14/0 dont be suprised if he is raping your entire team. Draven Vayne Jhin and any other ADC can do the same thing. Its a Carry thing.

Also for the BM try to not let it tilt you, that is quite literally a strategy that some Yasuos use. They could be the most nice/level headed people. But since everyone knows everyone hates Yasuo a lot of them know a perfectly timed Mastery Emote can tilt a lot of people off the face of the earth. Also not all Yasuo players are tilted. Usually they are either toxic tryhards, yes, but also silent but good. OR they are only playing him to meme and will be friendly in the chat.

Yasuo Main here.

If you suck against the matchup and have attempted to learn it, Zed vs Yasuo is a skill matchup after all, there is no regret in banning him. Personally, I suck ass against Orianna, I always lose no matter what I do: stacking MR, attempting to outplay, anything. So, I ban her. People will flame me like "Oh, you're a shit Yasuo because you banned a good matchup, git gud lololol" If you always lose the matchup, ban the champion, it's literally that simple.

There is a bit of hate coming from these anti-yasuo nerds who can't even attempt to learn the matchup and just complain, but honestly if you took the time to try to improve, more power to you.

AmazoX3 votes

You cannot lose a lane to a Yasuo as Talon unless you don't respect his wind wall.

As zed you want to play passive until you hit level 3 and after that passive again until you hit 6 and then you have the easiest time in the world to deal with Yasuo, I have 400K on Zed & 400k on Yasuo, I am telling you from experience.

Playing Veigar into a Yasuo is the second safest mage you can pick into a Yasuo, First one is of course Orianna.

Citavista3 votes

Just pick Annie and no skill all over him.

With Zed and Talon it's a skill match up, if Yasuo fucks up his wind wall he dies. If he doesn't you should still be able to get away.

You seem like the kind of person that would have BMed Yasuo if you were winning, but the opposite happened so you reported him lmao.

If he's trashing you on one of the most mechanically difficult champs in the game, that's impressive, yes.

Ben SwoIo6 votes

No, it's not. I always like watching a good Riven or Vayne. Yasuo just makes me roll my eyes with all the typical dashing and tornados. Nothing special, not impressive.

Mechanically difficult? You mean his two point and click abilities, invulnerable wind wall and his Q that heals at single-target level even if his whirlwind hits multiple targets? I don't know man, first three times I played him I got a penta each game because he's so damn easy. I think the mechanical difficulty thing is just a meme to stop Riot from nerfing him and so far, sadly, its working.

Why would you not ban him when you get a free ban its literally your fault, he also was probably better then you

Ben SwoIo1 votes

Well, I'm tired of banning Yasuo (as the title states). There are many other champs out right now that are OP and border line broken that I would rather use my ban on. So I didn't ban him and used it on another champ. The only thing that's "my fault" is me not being able to handle the match up. Is he better than me? No. Better in the match up? Obviously. For all I know he's a garbage mid laner if he doesn't get to play Yasuo, so you can't assume someone is "better" than someone else just from one match.

Shablagoo2 votes

Well you only get 1 so either way you can only ban on border line broken champion, also most ppl ban the borderline other champs. Yasuo isnt a borderline broken champ he literally is a waste of a ban that ppl waste their time banning just because you refuse to learn to play against him. I honestly hate seeing these posts because they are pointless its another rant to get him reworked because you and many other refuse to learn to play around him.
