Which do you prefer to buy: More expensive component-based items or flat items?

Example:

You're building a item 3812

You have around 1500 gold.

Do you buy item 3133 and wait or do you buy item 1037 and a item 1036 or two?

Ignore the specific example. Just "Would you rather have more incomplete pieces" or "Have a more complete piece but less items"

Like item 3113 vs. item 1058 + item 1052 if you're building ludens.

why would i buy just item 3113 instead of two other items which give me more of an immediate benefit? like you are asking with this example if i would rather have 5% MS or an extra 50 AP... not to mention that you would need to save a lot of gold just to get item 1058 (1250) vs 415 to finish Aether. People always will go for whatever is more useful to them and whatever gets them more with whatever amount of gold they might have
