we need some anti shield mechanics in league. its getting hard to kill squishies.

its very hard to play assassin and do my job when an adc has a support with exahust. locket. redemption. adc's own heal. and probably a heal and a shield in the supports kit.

fucking agreed there are maybe 2 assassins above a 48% win rate right now because of all these heals/shields

Why arent you guys complaining about mages having more range and burat than you?

Orite mages are fair and balanced

Instead of some kind of shield penetration, I can see a disable mechanic coming into play. Just like healing has GW, perhaps "disable" could be a thing, akin to silences for spells?

and nothing wrong with a usless champion class?

assassins have ways into a fight and out of a fight.

If they spend

Exhaust, heal, redemption and locket just to prevent your burst. then next time all they'll have less than that.

let them waste their stuff and just leave the fight. you already got value at that point.

I know what you mean though. i'm a tank player and i despise Last Whisper.

Fizz I dont :( lel

The issue is each one of those is enough to stop an assassin by itself, and some of those have fairly short cooldowns, while the frequency of a window of opportunity of assassination is far and few beyond.

not at all especially when it's an invisible assassin

Incorrect, it is wrong when said tools completely invalidate a dozen or more champions. If you got oneshot prior to all the broken tools, that was probably your fault. If you got oneshot even with all the broken tools, there's not much to tell you.

It's getting hard to assassinate Squishies, so nerf supports even more.

I'm fucking done with boards Lmfao . . . I wonder if it is hard to assassinate squishes because the assassin update was a complete failure.

Part of the issue is how strong Locket/Redemption/Vow is now though, which contributes to assassins being weaker.

That's basically pulling the same B.S. argument as so many other people pull, when a game adds in new mechanics such as how LoL recently got "Courage of the Colossus" (because we all know how much butt hurt occurred over it) and so many champions these days can easily pull wall jumps that its not as much of a problem if people use summoner 4 still 99.999% of the time in most matches outside of niche champions for split second dodges, gap escapes and wall jumping. Not to mention they had to remake flat armor pen into lethality just to stop the abuse of it on marksmen and non-assassins.

The problem is not the fact that the shields are so B.S. its more of the fact that shields are suppose to be intended for countering burst damage, just like how 'lifesteal' is suppose to be a counter against tanks for squishies to have a sustain chance to out fight the tanks and what they usually have is high amounts of CC to damage harass you with and make it hard to escape.

Sadly LoL is another good example of a game where PvP based systems are literally impossible to balance because as more 'mechanics' get thrown into the blender, it becomes easier for the 'pro scene players' to come up with new shenanigans thru skillful mechanic/itemization/stat interaction to create super strong champion builds, just like how in RPGs people will always look for those super EZ grind spots or record kill speed tactics for final bosses or just 'optional super hard bosses'.

So instead they really should focus on balancing things then just throw in new stuff to 'fix it' when it would just end up bringing in more mechanics that could be exploited (such as how Lucian MissFortune and likely even Draven and Vayne could pull with the 'Previous' ver of item 3142 and item 3071).

that's a whole lot of nothing you wrote

every mechanic should have a counter. shields are no exception

Sometimes it feels like this is an infinitely vicious cycle. First the assassins are doing their job "too well" and killing two people at once, so everyone throws their hands up in frustration until Riot gives us some defensive options. Then the assassins are no longer capable of doing their sole job, so we have to buff assassins or remove the shielding mechanics from supports. I wish people would just choose one thing that they want and stop complaining about it: You either get to have the assassin class and deal with dying instantaneously with little-to-no counterplay aside from hoping the assassin player themselves makes a mistake, or you deal with no assassins whatsoever, and we see ADCs becoming an integral part of a victory.

the thing is even when assassins were "strong". back before mage rework. plenty of mid lane mages had higher winrate than most other assassins.

Assassins still have the same problem they always have where they only have one scenario where they feel like a success case. If an assassin fails to kill you then that's it they're done, this feels awful for the assassin. If you give the assassin really low cooldowns so they can try and kill you frequently it can partially solve that by making the assassin feel good eventually, but this feels awful for everyone else because no matter how many times you resist getting killed unless the assassin died there is no feeling of a success case.

I was really expecting new utility to come with the assassin update related to doing damage and making it so it's relevant beyond "did it kill? y/n". Maybe something like if the assassin hits someone for 3/4 of their health they get some form of grievous wounds for 40-60 seconds. Now the assassin does what an assassin does but even if they don't kill what they have done stays relevant.

I'm sure there are other ways assassins could have been given some kind of assassin utility (specifically utility that would only be useful on an assassin's kit, no tank Ekko bullshit), and I'm kind of disappointed that the assassin rework for most assassins were just slight behaviour changes.

Btw just saying but I don't actually play assassins, not really my cup of tea, so if I am horribly wrong about any of this. Meh.
