What if Elise's damage were more on the DoT-side instead of burst damage?

Elise's Neurotoxin is one of the things that really holds her back from any sort of power because of how nasty a harass move it is. All you do is stack MPen and she can rip through your health easily, provided she doesn't have a mana burnout (ouch 100 mana cost). Same thing with her Spider Q - hurts like hell if she has enough MPen and you're low, so its numbers got gutted.

I had a thought: What if Elise was converted to do less burst and more DoT? Would that balance her out more?

"Why DoT?"

When I read "Neurotoxin" and "Venomous Bite", I keep thinking "poisons", but they're burst effects instead of the poisons we see on other Champions (Teemo, Cassiopeia, etc.). Doesn't exactly make a load of sense in that regard. Besides, a spider bite doesn't (usually) result in instant effects, right?

In a gameplay sense, DoTs would make the abilities less effective against opponents with shields, heals, etc., giving them more ability to counterplay them rather than just instantly dying to a burst attack. Plus the DoT's would work a little more nicely with her Spider W.

These are just theories, though. I'd appreciate some other player insight on the topic at hand.

This champion has reached old sion lvls.. I feel like theyre going to rework her before they give her a buff that is actually worth a damn..

I agree with your idea. I think it would be cool. Unfortunately, I doubt anything good is coming her way.

I think you would need to give her more changes besides that. Switching damage from upfront to DOT would have pretty significant impact on a champ.

It wouldn't make much of a difference. The same damage would be dealt either way and so she would be the same against the vast majority of the champion roster. This could also negatively affect her play style. Normally you soften targets up as the human and then leap in as the spider. This DOT might make her wait too long between the two to feel good.

There is also an issue with DOT. It feels weaker. Inhib and Nexus turrets got a serious buff this preseason but they feel a lot weaker. Why? DOT.

The commonly touted theory as to why Elise is a problem is that she is a generalist - more so than Lee Sin! If she is allowed to be good then she will dominate because she can do a little bit of everything. If this is the case then what she needs is a small (or big) rework to give her some weaknesses and to solidify or create some strengths.

I think it would be cool if they turned her into a good version of Cass. DoT/Poison mage would fit her theme, as well.

since I'm recently start spamming the spider to great success in diamond 3 and got mastery leve 4 i have to say she is actually not so bad once you get skilled with her. Just don't watch hoe the pros build her they have wrong. she is not a tank so don't build her like that.

build magnus > mpen bots > haunting > abysal/voidstaff > zhonya > ryalia/dcap/voidstaff > liandry. You can go abysal before haunting or armguard depending if you fail early ro they have lots of magic damage or physical damage. you should also seel magnus for nashors tooth when you are full build. If they have zero magic damage go void instead of abyssal. you run magic pen reds, armor fellow, 15% scaling cdr blues and falt ap quints. you can du a full jungle clear and be level 4 with full hp and 1 hp pot left if you have good mechanics. she is extremyl good at tower diving so i prefer to s now ball top and just go kill over and over again. Also lanes that can set up for your human e is free kill lanes. you level 3 to 5 is best in the game. better then pantheon rek sia and lee sin. do rek sia and pantheon is easier to pull of.
