That shit needs to change. He's been busted for an entire season even in high ELO. The nerfs are not enough. You basically just have to hope that your jungler camps him and you don't get counterganked. He just shoves and free farms but unlike Galio (who is still annoying af), he has kill pressure too. You're a free kill if his JG is ever near at 6. All he does is Flash R. You can't ward every entrance. Even if you do, he can flash R and the jungler can still have time to come. If you just "play safe", you lose your turret and the game very fast with zero pressure. You'd be zoned off the wave for his entire flash R range. It's busted and stupid. Worst of all, he scales WELL! If he has that kind of early and mid game, he cannot also have a strong late game. It's idiotic.

Malzahar is immobile. Malzahar is an AP champion. Malzahar was originally an anti-assassin who assassinated assassins.

Why are you picking a champ who cant waveclear well vs malzahar? Why are you staying in his range when youre low? Why arent you giving him the same respect you would an Ahri or a vlad?

Hes also immobile. He also requires multiple Q resets to do most of his damage. He also requires his W to do most of his damage.

Lets get real, the amount of counterplay on malzahar is through the roof. His voidlings have 200 or so health and die from -literally- ONE basic attack. A single ADC with runans with wipe his entire swarm. His ultimate gives him kill pressure - kill pressure HE REALLY NEEDS otherwise you get a stellar support; someone who can do lots of non-lethal damage.

He is very vulnerable to AoE/splash damage and counter-poke, and his voidlings are easy to kill from a distance. Malzahar suffers from high mana consumption as well, so keeping pressure on him can overwhelm him swiftly. Play either Gangplank, Karthus, or Galio against him.

Or Ahri, or someone mobile, or really anyone with a 200 base damage AoE ability. Malzahars strength lies in his empowered voidlings and his Q resets. If he burns his voidlings, he cant use them to ult you. If he doesnt land Qs he runs out of mana.

Unless he gets a RoA (Which he wont - most people go Mpen+rylais because its simply effective with his kit) hes going to very easily run out of mana if you press the attack; Malzahar is a very passive champion who lacks the tools and incentive to interact with his lane opponent.

Malzahar is still crappier than before his rework. He's low burst and needs to cast an entire rotation of WQER in order to do maximum dmg. He's a great split pusher, but in a team fight all he's really good for is a suppression, which also suppresses himself in order to cast. You can't spam Q because it's expensive to cast, you have actually make your spell casts count in order for his W to start dealing dmg and that's IF the enemy don't kill them first, and his E is a really short range which doesn't deal much dmg unless he has his W up. His passive was the best thing about him rework, but against poke champions it's pretty useless, and it's really easy to play around for assassins like Zed and Fizz.

EZ counters to Malz are Brand and Morgana.

with Brand, just E a minion with Blaze on it and it neutralizes his shield. With Morgana, just afk farm and bait out his E procs with your spellshield so he can't farm.
