10 Step guide to disentangling Attack Damage for the three roles that use it.

Step 1) Give Marksman and Assassins primarily bonus Attack Damage ratios. Step 2) Give Fighters primarily total Attack Damage ratios. Step 3) Make Critical Strikes scale off of bonus Attack Damage more so than total Attack Damage in some way or another. Step 4) Standardize Spellblade's damage across the board (give Trinity a small Total Attack Damage ratio). Step 5) Assign base Attack Damage more freely on Fighter items --> Fighter items become less desirable to Marksmen and Assassins because they do not offer bonus Attack Damage. Step 6) Fighter items can now be balanced for Fighters without fear of Marksman or Assassin abuse. Step 7) Assign bonus Attack Damage ratios on Assassins items --> Assassin items become less desirable to Fighters because they aren't tailored to their needs as well as Fighter items are. Step 8) Assassin items can be balanced for Assassins without fear of Fighter abuse. Step 9) ??? Step 10) Profit.

This actually sounds like a surefire way to differentiate the roles, though I would worry about a few ADCs, namely Twitch and Draven, abusing the assassin items.

But overall, it sounds pretty decent.
