What laners straight up beat nasus

From watching gameplay Playing him And playing against him His kit is a little overloaded for a late game champ.

Passive lifesteal at level 1 Stacking q Arguably the best dueling skill in the game with w. Can't kite him and you can't fight him. Massive AOE armor reduction on his spirit fire that hard shoves the lane. Ult that gives health, armor, magic resist, and aura that deals max health damage over time plus increasing his armor and mr over time.

This is such a generic kit and the only thing it's missing is a gap close. Some people are probably going to point out that he is low mobility and that's his weakness. I don't think that makes sense because it doesn't matter if he can't hit you if he never dies. And because he's building full tank combined with the lifesteal that he gets from his passive then there aren't a whole lot of champions that can kill him post level 3. And if you don't kill him before first back then he gets the first part of an item to optimize against your damage and then you're never going to kill him. And when late game rears its ugly head, depending on the Nasus build it is impossible to duel him. The movement speed from Phage, Ghost, Stormraiders, and the slow from wither you can't touch him as melee. And if you picked ranged to poke him out early then he doesn't

There are a few exceptions to this.

  1. Champions that can bully anyone off of the wave can do well vs him early but those are few and far between. Teemo, kled, darius, pantheon, gnar, and mordekaiser, etc. But with the exception of champions like darius who do well at all stages of the game, killing nasus barely delays his power spikes and they still lose to him late game.
  2. Early ganks set him back by a lot. This is the only sure fire way of making nasus useless until 30 minutes. Constant jungle pressure and taking down turret early makes the game a 4v5. But in a solo queue environment where you don't get ganks unless you're duo'd with the jungler that will never reliably happen.

I'm not saying to nerf nasus. He has a pretty cool champion concept that I think makes league of legends a better game. But his kit just does to much too easily and I think he should have a mini update to make him less viable early game.

If anyone has advice vs nasus and what champions they've seen him do well against him that'd be really helpful too.

Edit: REally appreciate all the help. Thx :D I still think his kit is a little binary though. I like the idea behind the champion but the execution feels a little off. But it's just one shitty players opinion. Thanks anyways!

As a Nasus main I have one word for you. Mordekaiser. Mordekaiser is my worst nightmare, he just counters Nasus so hard. Also you don't have to beat the doge, you have to beat his team. One common myth is Nasus can carry extremely well. Nope that's not true, he can carry and all but it's hard due to him sucking in team fights. In a team fight you just wanna make sure he can't hit anyone that's key, in actuality he's not too tanky it's just his passive sustain is pretty good. So just keep you are ad carry away from him and focus fire him down.

Yeah that's usually the problem though is relying on team play. Which in low elo is a legend that i have only seen a glimpse of once or twice.

My biggest problem is he max range stacks and so i cant usually trade with him early in lane. So the very small amount of poke i get off he heals back.

Search up a guy named Dong Huaps guide on how to beat Nasus. It's really good

Ramen2261 votes

Yeah i've seen it. The main point is early jungle pressure.

Which you never bc low elo get executed in their jungle half the time

Vizulix1 votes

Yeah it's frustrating and all but here's the best tip I can give you. ROAM. Just leave Nasus alone and extend your pressure. He's gonna get stacked up no mater what you do. You wanna win and snowball the game before he becomes strong.

That seems kinda scary.

But thanks a ton bro i really appreciate it. I'll be sure to try what everyone is saying.

I once played against a Garen, I level 6 solo killed him and was doing great. I lost that round. The Garen saw that he couldn't do anything anymore and so he just roamed. I had to stop farming once my team started flaming me for not following Garen in his roams. The Garen got fed and carried. Just roam Nasus's team will do the rest.

Teemo Fiora Akali Darius Irelia Renekton Illaoi Pantheon

Teemo loses after his first back and if their jungle pressures you once (even if you dont die) then your kill pressure is almost gone. Fiora i forgot but i've never seen the matchup Akali ? I don't understand her dps is lower and her build is more damage oriented compared to his ability to deal dmg while building mr. Darius i said Irelia is also pretty weak pre 6. I guess her sustain? Renekton i forgot admittedly but he's too clunky for me. Illaoi i forgot. But i've never seen that matchup. Pantheon i mentioned.

I dunno it just seems like most champions don't have a lot of kill pressure on him even though he's a late game champion.

Plus he outranges melee champions because his q and ult give extra range.

every single champ he listed destroys nasus in lane if played right. Also these champs counter him too Kled Quinn Yorick

Gangplank is great vs him, mainly because you scale MUCH harder than him and he is not a threat to you at all in lane Oranges ensures you can cleanse wither + MS from passive and barrels allows you to keep your distance from him

You can even bully him a bit if you're confident the enemy jungler isnt nearby

Ramen2261 votes

Yeah i was thinking about gp. But can't he (nasus) just out sustain his (gp) poke?

Akali is SO HOT1 votes

It doesn't matter if he out sustains GP's poke because the extra gold GP gets from killing minions allows him to scale much harder than Nasus more quickly. A GP with Sheen is also enough to be able to poke Nasus down so he can't farm as easily which can cause him to fall behind a little bit.

Git gud.

Okay so Fiora scales up and will eventually be able to deal with Nasus, but if Nasus has Ghost and not Flash then there is a large portion of the early game that he can just rush ninja tabi and run you down like a degenerate for even being close to him. Without your R up you basically cannot fight him and if he's just smart enough to run away from your R, he will wreck you.

You're not look at the big picture with Akali. Akali can use her W to negate a Q and a large portion of the W timer by just waiting out her ability cooldowns, Nasus E won't do a lot damage to her in the W. Akali's sustain is very bursty and she can outsustain his mana, and stay in lane while he has to back. These are all advantages. Akali is also capable of going tank and doing well.

Irelia has true damage and a counter-engage stun, she can eat a Nasus Q then E and do work if W isn't on, then chase him down with Q when he tries to run. Irelia is a skill matchup for Nasus, his W cucks her but she can win outside of the W or after qss or maybe with intelligent trades via mercs.

Renekton stomps Nasus early but he's the same as every other melee bully, if he doesn't win so hard in the early game that Nasus can't farm at all, then he'll get outscaled with 2 armor items, especially after the recent BC nerfs.

Illaoi is good vs Nasus, she can bully him off the wave with Q and punish him for coming close with her E, and out duel him at all stages basically with R. Illaoi is just weak to ganks and Nasus W is so good for easy ganks... once again a skill matchup.

I'd say Gangplank is the best counter that's been discussed, since he can play the lane so safely and outscale so hard, as well as take advantage of Nasus' disinclination to roam by using his R for global pressure.

PS: Yea I forgot, Mord is also a great counter to him for all these same reasons, but in a similar fashion to Illaoi, he's very powerful but weak to ganks. However the dogo may be a bit behind and Mord will basically perma shove so they will be lacking minions and losing xp to the turret so... Yea, mord also seems good.

Thank you for you time. Helps a lot :)

I take mordekaiser; just spam E and Q on nasus every time he goes to last hit.

Every. Time. For every creep.

He doesn't last.

Save W for ganks and nasus will be low from the ability spam so you can usually fight off a gank if you're maxing W.

Nasus WILL out scale so just use your lead to take rift, push mid, or ult dragon.

Jayce, Gnar, Rumble. Pretty much anyone with more range than him can poke him out early and deny him farm. In organized play you do need some jungle support, Nasus definitely draws aggro early. Also, nasus needs to farm, so he is less likely to teleport to assist other lanes which makes it easier to make rotations elsewhere on the map. Also, since he needs to farm with q, if he shoves too hard with his E he can miss out on stacks, and even in melee you can just poke him. Any mana he spends on you is mana he's not spending on farming. There's a reason he's not really seen in pro play

Pantheon is by far the hardest Nasus counter in the game, not counting ranged cheese picks. Take ignite and stomp him.

Garen with grasp. It is hilarious. Being a spellcaster and using auto+q for auto reset plus removing the slow from wither if you need to, using e to shred his armor, exploiting nasus is basically an aa champ - so your armor items should be made specifically to punish aa ad champs, and you can basically not care about his wither - you still are dealing damage efficiently. Hell, I 1v2 wrecked nasus and a camping kha'zix when kha and rengar were THE META junglers and the ONLY junglers. Even 35-40 min in, I traded 1 for 1 with them in an isolated 1v2. The only reason I died was to stop nasus from finishing his back so my team could end the game. Nasus isn't an end-all-be-all toplaner. He can get shrecked even late game and even without jungle help - you just need to learn how to play against him and exploit his strengths vs weaknesses. Pure aa champs will suffer vs him. Champs with decent spells to cast can ignore a lot of the effect from his wither and use freezes to force him to overextend early and kill him for it.

My go to for a nasus shut down personally is Garen.

I've played a few games with nasus, and I can understand the confusion as to how you beat him. If he doesn't die before level 6 or his first back, yeah. He gets to be confusing. Usually the best thing you can do is keep him occupied by just distracting him from getting your tower. Or let him rush your first tower early and watch him kill himself by trying to farm at your second tower and getting shrekt by a 3 man gank from behind him. Which, admittedly, is just hoping the nasus out plays himself. If he does get ahead to where it's dangerous to gank him, you have to do a base race pretty much. Encourage your team to win the 5v4 while he's farming top, and rush the turrets. Most nasus players forget about how keeping the other turrets alive is just as important as keeping their top turret up and just farm all day.

(Openly admitting that I'm Hella bronze, and generally only play normals. Though I have a fuck ton of normal games. I've never seen a nasus in a ranked game on purpose)
