I have a question for Soraka players/mains...
Why do you poke with your E? When I play 
I never poke with Equinox, I only use it defensively.
It just seems like a waste of perfectly good mana.

I poke with e when they are low and playing safe but most importantly when I see the enemy jungler is nowhere near botlane.
Its longer range and far easier to land than a max range q, but you can only safely use it into some matches.
Because it's strong poke and there's basically no way to dodge the initial cast, whereas it's very possible to dodge Q, especially at long range. It's E+Aery+Possible Scorch+Tribute all at once, 100% of the time. Possible Manaflow proc to offset some of the cost as well.
It can burn through mana if you spam it and leaves you vulnerable to being jumped on, so you don't want to do it all of the time, but it's a good idea for once in a while.

Easier to hit than Q and less risky.
But only do it when the enemy bot/support aren’t playing champs that can heavily punish you for it, or when enemy jungler is on bot side of the map.
