This should not be allowed in ranked.

I really don't even know what to say. This should not be allowed in ranked. If you have a 15% win ratio, you should NOT be able to queue into ranked. There should be a minimum win ratio to play ranked. Ranked is not a place to practice new champions or practice league in general.

ADC: 25% Win Ratio (picked a champion he/she has played 1 times previously) SUP: 15% Win Ratio (picked a champion he/she has played 4 times previously) TOP: 20% Win Ratio (picked a champion he/she has played 3 times previously)

Me: 81% Win Ratio MID: 55% Win Ratio

Thats in just the 20 past games. Lose streaks happen.

In the long run everyone has a 50% win ratio, just give them a chance to fall to their proper elo.

Similarly, you'll climb past that kind of riff raff before long, as you only need a >50% to climb, and at 80% win rate you'll be soaring until things slow down to 50%.

And you have the same MMR as them

So if your win ratio is below 25% how do you get it up if you are ineligible to play? Normals? Because it's not the same stats as in ranked.

First off - There should be a mastery level for which you can play ranked on a champion (Unless Autofilled) - No 1 should be playing a champion they never have played.

Then to answer your original question. Yes, if your ranked Win Ratio falls under a certain % - say 40 or 45%. Then you should be forced to move over to Norms. Your Normal Win ratio over the last 20 games would then have to exceed 55+ % Win Ratio. That would buy you 5 games of Ranked. If you did not pull a win ratio of 40 - 45% or higher in those 5 games, you would be forced to go back to Normals for 20 games ( pulling a 55 + % in normals over 20 games) - It would be much like the current "Series" that you get when moving up divisions.

I played this game WAY before mastery was even a thing. I've plenty of experience on champions that I have maybe one or two mastery level on because I don't play them all too often.

Also, that's a terrible system. For one, ranked and normal MMR are entirely different. I could have a much lower or higher MMR in normals than I do ranked and it would completely alter the intent of your system. Apart from the fact that some people also exclusively play Ranked and who are you to tell them that they can't? If they're that bad and you're that good, you'll climb and they won't.

I don't really see how it would alter the system at all. If you had a higher MMR in Normals - and Moved to Ranked ... you should be facing easier enemies, therefore keeping a higher win ratio. If you are playing at a higher MMR in ranked, You may lose more - giving you a chance to fall over the 5 games - and then practice in Normals.

Ranked Play should be somewhat competitive. I can not think of any sport where you can play badly over and over, and still play that sport at a competitive level. (And when I say competitive ... I dont mean pro... all the way down to high school level - If you play badly, you are now allowed to continue playing until you improve your play ).

Your ranked MMR and Normals MMR are entirely different. They are completely different things, one has absolutely no bearing on the other whatsoever. Trying to force a connection between the two is going to be entirely unhealthy.

Also, what are you talking about? Do you know how many professional players of sports SUCK? I mean Kapernick(sp) is a prime example of that and he still gets to play. Just because you're upset because you had a bad game doesn't mean everyone else should get punished. Here's the kicker: If you got matched with a player that "bad" it means your MMR is the same or similar to his.

I understand the MMR's are different. I think where we have a disconnect is - I see a connection between ranked and normals. That connection is learning and knowing your champion pool. The only thing different between ranked and normals is your enemy. The minions are the same ( last hitting ) your baron / dragon are the same ( learning when to push an objective ).

I am assuming you have played another sport in your life - I will use basketball as an example. When you go to basketball practice... Your coach rarely has you playing against another player. You are practicing fundamentals. free throws, jump stops, left handed layups, doing lines.

Normals is your "basketball practice" - it teaches you the fundamentals of gameplay with a specific champion. It teaches you ward placement / last hitting / effective trading. It also teaches you about enemy champions - what to expect in regards to abilities.

There is a connection between ranked play and normals.

I know one thing - when I played basketball in highschool ... if we got our ass handed to us by a rival school - our coach held mandatory extra practices. He must have seen a benefit in practicing fundamentals to achieve muscle memory for your real games ( ranked matches in this case )

See though, what I see is League is like a rec league at basketball that you and your buddies started. Just because you suck doesn't mean you aren't going to play anymore. You play for fun and the standing you might gain as being the best team in the league or placing 3rd or whatever is just extra bragging rights.

Ýisus1 votes

You must have had some really really nice friends ... because even in Rec League ( pick up or actual rec league ) we didn't allow our friends who were bad at basketball to be on our team. We would play 21 with them to practice (kind of like normals) ... But we didn't play team 5v5 with them unless they got better ( ranked )

Sorry but what? The mentality of people playing in normals and ranked are completely different. I can do pretty decently on certain champions in normals but do terrible in ranked. The skill of the opponents varies greatly between normals and ranked.

A system like this would on require you to face similar opponents than in ranked which just isn't going to happen in the vast majority of normal games. Leaving even 90% winrate champions be questionable at best. It also doesn't stop people from having bad streaks which can very easily make this type of scenarios from happening

I dont really understand what you are trying to say in your 2nd paragraph. I understand the first paragraph - regarding opponent difficulty. And yes, I agree - opponent difficulty is usually vastly different between ranked and normals ( ranked usually are harder opponents ) - And thus, if you cannot handle your opponents in normals at 55% ... Are you really ready for ranked?

Concerning the Losing Streak - I agree, and have myself went on a losing streak. By forcing the person over to normals, it would minimize the tilt of a losing streak on their ranked MMR, and everyone else's rank who may be queue'd with them.

In the Original Post... If a person is 3W / 17L ... 4W / 16L - It's not time to keep going into ranked and crashing other peoples MMR / Rank. The 2 people mentioned above managed to go 1/9 together in the first 8 minutes of the game. Literally ... before they hit level 6 ... the ADC had died 5 times and the Support 4 times.

When looking over their game history, I soon understood that this is a common occurrence for the ADC - Game after Game I see scores like 1/12 .... 2/9 .... 1/14. And I also notice that the length of the games tends to be right around 20 - 25 minutes. /surrender.

people play normals for an entire different reason than for what they play ranked. This includes not only your opponents but your teammates as well. You can have teammates who are simply learning new things, trying new things or just playing something in a role that they usually aren't played. Those type of things are going to affect whether you win or not. Normal games are a terrible thing to force people when trying to play ranked. The only real way for people to improve in ranked is by playing ranked. You can learn builds and what the champion does but you cannot learn how people would behave, how they would react in an effective way.

Everyone has a terrible streak of games, everyone. There are pro players who go on 10+ losing streaks do they just not deserve to play ranked and be forced to normals just because they got a bad losing streak? If people are literally dying constantly before a certain time has passed that is them doing it on purpose and should be dealt with not be shoved into another group of people pretty much just saying "this guy is your problem now". It doesn't work that way. Sorry but no! the last thing i would want to see if i am in a losing streak is to be "oh you are now unable to play ranked until you play a bunch of games in a mode you don't give a damn about" all that will cause me to do is just troll and not give a single damn about my normal games as a way to bent my anger. There are more than enough people already just going "it's just normals whatever" and proceed to feed and do whatever the hell they want, which would just cause people who are trying to get their winrate back up be UNABLE to do so! which will just fuel their anger even more.

When people play ranked and are doing poorly they are either trolling in which case they will be dealt with and you will more than likely only see them once in your entire ranked career or are people who are trying their hardest but for whatever reason, whether it's because of them or not they just lose the game. I have had plenty of games in which i play a certain champion and even though i do really well with it i just keep on losing the games. I can have a great KDA, i can have a great CS score but it still not enough for me to win. Normals should never be something to be used to determine whether or not someone is ready to play ranked due to how different the skill lvls of EVERYONE involved is. You can face people that are much higher ranked than you in normals so saying that you "play easier opponents in normals" is just false. In normals you can face people that are in diamond while you are a silver player yourself. You can face people that are in bronze while you are a challenger player yourself. You can face people that are in gold while you are in gold yourself. There is no consistency in normals since normal MMR =/= ranked MMR
