How is matchmaking supposed to work in normals again?

So I thought matchmaking in normals worked by trying to make matches even or meet the same average. So if that's the case, what I don't understand is the game I had 3 matches ago, we're I was 2/6/3 as caitlyn.

So I was wondering why my whole team got trashed (let's just ignore that we had Camille mid), I check OP. GG and see that in that game I had a level 10 and a level 29, me and the other 2 are silver, one with a 100 games and one with 2 hundred. Ok, I look at the enemy team, Plat 5 riven main with 700+ games ok, a bronze player with 200 games,a silver player with 800 games, a silver player with 400 games and a silver player with 16 ranked games.

So I assume me and the other 2 are supposed to balance out the noobs or the 2 silver players are supposed to make up for me and the 2 noobs since I'm trash at the game, I go 0/7/0 in 80% of my games. I don't see how this is balanced, even if they were all trash, which one of us were supposed to win Lane against the plat riven otp? The level 29 eve with morello? Someone explain, since there's a lot of factors it could be balanced for all I know but I feel that they put a lot of semi experienced players against experienced players who've spent 7x the amount of time on the game the game that I've had. Or does matchmaking just not care?

Is this riots way of trying to force me to play ranked?

TL: DR How is the 2/6/3 Cait match balanced? http://euw.op.gg/summoner/userName=ShadeDi

It isn't balanced, but what you got to keep in mind is that Normals and Ranked use seperate MMR for matchmaking, so things such as Plat or even Dia players can end up playing against lower level players in Normals if their Normal MMR is low enough for it...

2/6/3 is only mid-tier feeding.
