Mark/Dash Ruins ARAM :(

Hi Riot,

Recently you added a move, "Mark/Dash," to the very popular game All Random All Mid. ARAM used to be a very straight-forward game. 5 champions, one lane, push to win yolo dolo. It was a mix of skill, poke, and patience all while restricted to one very limited lane. While all of this is still the same in the game, adding Mark/Dash ruins to initial intent of the game.

Long before the ARAM game mode, players used to gather in custom games to play ARAM. It was a battle of poke. Now with Mark/Dash, it is a free spam-and-dive game. It deals damage, it has a relatively short cooldown, gives vision, makes the player untargetable while dashing, and it allows the player to choose to jump or not. This makes it so that its just a shit show of spamming mark/dash and waiting for the right moment to use your free jump.

Very similar to how you talk about low counter-play issues on champions (Ryze W for example) Mark/Dash has very low counterplay as well. Of course, you can dodge it (very obvious counter-play), but 1. ARAM is a thin lane and 2. It's cooldown make it annoyingly spammable.

Honestly though, my biggest issue is how this changes ARAM from its original intent. ARAM was created by the Riot community, NOT BY RIOT, and it should stay as it was designed by the Riot community.

Thanks

~A sad, old ARAM veteran.

I'll give ya the whole "STOP F-CKING HITTING ME WITH SNOWBALLS, WHERE ARE YOU GETTING THEM FROM!?" argument there because they are really really really annoying ATM IMO but this mark/dash does do something useful: helps melee champs.

I can't tell you how infuriating it is to play a melee champ without mark/dash or a good team comp that has your back (excuse me here because I'm not exactly the best with game terms.) But, I played Volibear on ARAM quite a bit along with Alistar and before M/D, I couldn't do anything but hide in a bush and wait until someone decided to go careless, walk past it, and allow me to push them towards the team or I had to build completely tank, activate r, then tank the team and push a key target at them. With Volibear, I HAD TO BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL OR I WOULD DIE ALMOST INSTANTLY, those damn ranged won't even let you move if they spot you. Now, they have discussed giving M/D a few changes, like I think they said something about a longer CD or I think reduced damage. So, just hold out until then I guess but I find the spell does help while equally hurting. They only things I don't like about it is when somebody abuses the mobility on it or the whole opposite team throws 5 at one time and you've lost half your health and then they all charge you UNDER A TURRET. Maybe, a restriction on the champs that could use it? Eh, idk, im not the best with this stuff but it shouldn't be removed because then its going to be a pain in the ass to have to go against a ranged team while you play obvious booty hungry warwick.

P.S.: While the idea was created by the community and Rito did implement it, that doesn't mean you can tell them to leave the gamemode alone as they did put the work into making a dream into a reality and now they're just trying to help make it fair for all champs so you won't complain about SHIT TEAM COMP NO CHANCE QQ GONNA DODGE (Seriously, if you do this, I will find you, and I will hit you with a brick.)

(Edit: I really only have problems dodging it if i'm focused on the game or a certain area and not paying attention to one coming at me or if its just too close when casted to dodge)

yes, because poor fizz and lee and talon were so underpowered as melee champs before they put their trollball in the game.

oh, wait...

ARAM is fun. I love ARAM. This isn't ARAM anymore.

They said they're considering upping the cd and maybe touching upon the range. They've already split the damage between mark and dash (1/3 and 2/3 respectively). Honestly if they did that, I think it would be much better- and people wouldnt always be picking it.
