What is the counter play to yasuo?

MunchCrunchLunch··3 votes·812 views

whats the counterplay to his kit? he works against ranged champions because of his wind wall and shield. and he works against melee because he will probably hit you few times before you can even touch him and even then his shield and his infinite tornados will poke you hard. whats the counterplay to him? other than just beating the shit out of him with armor and damage which is obvious for every champ that has no counterplay. which means that he did his job of making you buy items you wouldn't normally buy. I mean he seems to be a god in top lane and mid lane.

You pick a bruiser. Build armor

Also don't bother using most ap mid laners except Mlazahar or Gragas(unconventional). You take out his passive shield before duelling him

You stand to the side of the minions so him landing a Q will be more difficult. But in all honesty, you are just capitalizing off of mistakes, yasuo at his very best will probably beat any traditional mid-laner

why do I have to pick a champ just to counter 1 other champ that i might or might not face? but i mean with his crit passive. he will do massive damage. he will basically mid-late game do as much damage proportionally as he did to you early game. he needs to items to get 100% crit. the rest is damage and thats it. I mean. and the hit box on that Q is larger than you think. even then he will shot his long range tornados on me. how am I supposed to get around his wind wall. infinite shield that absords absolutely insane damage. infinite tornados. no mana. his E that makes it really hard to land a hit on him

Also if you dodge his tornado you attempt to all-in. Also Yasuo is pretty shit without minions so you will dump all over him if your duelling in the jungle.

Crit means thornmail hurt Exhaust works

burst him with his shield up? i need some ranged attack to get it off from safety. and thornmail does 15% damage reflection. he needs 1 item to get 20% lifesteal. and thats before his armor that will absord what 30% of the damage. no its not as effective as you think

If you can't adequately play against him as other champions, then it wouldn't hurt to rely on a counterpick until you are capable of handling him.

If you are good enough to handle him, then you don't have to pick a champion specifically to deal with him.

^^^Basically this.

Pray he's either incompetent or you're competent enough to catch a mistake and punish him in time for it.

Good riven players can outplay yasuo easily

Thanks to the meta shift, a good Riven today was last season's great Riven. Part of the reason they're giving her that minor buff back to HP regen.

even with Jax its really hard to kill him. and everywhere jax is his ultimate counter as everyone says. but i don't consider jax a counter as its usually a 50/50 on who survives really. depends on play. am a jax main.

Nautilus seems to work well and any other tank for that matter, also thorn mail and sun flair cape for items, I hope this helps.

exactly that works against every melee champ thats not counterplay.

Pretty much his counters are tanks.

Sion TahmKench DrMundo Rammus Chogath Skarner Trundle Volibear Nautilus you get the point

but tanks literally counter every single melee champ. its the way they're supposed to be. am talking skill kit based counterplay.

If I have to pick an AP mid I'd pick Kayle against him, otherwise I'd just pick a bruiser (or even AD Kayle, because why not). The reason I say Kayle is because her "ranged" attacks are done in a way that allows her to completely ignore his wind wall. The only thing wind wall blocks is her Q.

If you've got good reactions with your ult he'll never be able to kill you solo.

To be frank his shield is at its weakest in lane when pitted against a ranged auto attack.

Also, not all ranged champions are projectile reliant Malzahar and others can easily forego their projectiles Annie.

Not really, depending on the melee.

Xin Zhao for example has a higher effective engage range than Yasuo does being 600 units to Yasuo's 475, and 600 is a near standardized value for most other melee gap closers as well.

Engage on Yasuo first or let him come to you and gap close to him once he's behind his own minions. He now can't escape, and most melee bruisers for example stat check him ridiculously hard.

and even then his shield and his infinite tornados will poke you hard.

Dodging his tornados is a valuable skill. That and, unlike Nidalee or Blitzcrank, Yasuo's not exactly the "if he hits you once you are dead" sort of champion.

Also, statchecking. Yasuo's EHP even with that shield is comparably low.

{quoted}

making you buy items you wouldn't normally buy.

Are you that dense. You're supposed to change up your build constantly. Both AP and AD itemization changes were designed around this principle. Almost nobody in higher level play uses the exact same build over and over again. And don't get me started if you were talking to a dedicated Top or Jungle main. Get off your high horse and learn how to itemize properly.

And then you realize that most good Yasuo's start with their E and anytime you try to AA him from range he just dashes through the minions and at that point those champs are not going to trade AA's with Yasuo.

@OP--Simply put don't play a ranged champ against Yasuo and if you get stuck with one against him make sure you have exhaust, you can exhaust Yasuo while he is ulting you which massively guts his damage. The best bet is going to be a melee champ like Fiora/Riven or other duelists who have pretty strong early games can make Yasuo's life hell. Juggers also do pretty well, Darius absolutely destroys him.

Have you tried picking a Lux into Yasuo? I don't think she necessarily hard counters him but she does fine in lane and stay even or becomes more useful than Yasuo out of lane. This is my personal preference and everyone is different.
