Maokai is honestly such BS

All the pen and GW in the world and he still takes negligible damage unless focused by the entire team(which just leaves you open to the other 4 people on his) and he still heals for like a quarter of his HP bar. This champion honestly felt far more manageable and fair pre-rework than he does currently.

Can anyone shed some light on how to fight this guy? I must be missing something very important in countering him because the most obvious ones don't seem to not help much.

I was playing wukong jungle yesterday, came top to clean up some cs under tower. maokai tower dove me and killed me from 100 to 0, while walking out with half hp. XD he didn't even have armor items, only bami cinder and mercs. ROFL I was like what the fuck just happened.

AA champs can bring him down faster. His heal's CD is reduced when hit by abilities, so casters can't kill him too way because their abilities keep reducing his heal's CD, which can then lead to a good amount of healing in teamfights if he can get tanky enough and soak enough shots.

Outside that heal, he has no actual tank steroid. No damage reduction, no shield, which makes him rely on items, SV and Gargoyle Stoneplate add some extra durability there, and that heal.

In the end, auto attackers (Yi, Fiora, Tryn, Aatrox, almost any marksman) can shred through him, especially with GW, since their main damage does not speed up his healing.

Side note, what prompted thos thread, because I see no recent games against Maokai for you. Heck, I see no games outside ARAM and the RGM Queue for the past 3 weeks.

Play against him on TT and cry yourself to sleep knowing he has infinite wards you have no vision or counterplay to it.
