Have you noticed that new Taric does absolutely no damage whatsoever?

Arcane Azmadi··3 votes·2,406 views

So, new Taric kit is up. Shatter has been replaced Bastion, which does no damage and in fact has no effect on the enemy at all (a shield which lets him cast from his ally). Radiance has been replaced by Cosmic Radiance, an AoE invulnerability. And while Bravado does more damage than Gemcraft and the new Dazzle does more damage than the old one, that's ALL. Taric used to have quite respectable burst damage from his R>E combo, especially with the bonus AD and AP aura from his ult and the AR shred from Shatter. Now, he gets outdamaged by Janna. Fuck, he gets outdamaged by Soraka.

We have a new champion for "most passive laning support". Because fuck knows you're not going to be harassing with him and you sure as SHIT can't play him in a solo lane or jungle. Can you imagine what his clear speed would be like?

If I didn't know better I'd say he was a support champion.

being a support doesn't mean he isn't allowed to deal damage, look at every single other support champion and comeback and say this again. The only other support champion that doesn't do much damage is Soraka

Bard

Anyways, Taric is a utility champion. You don't really pick him for burst or clear. You do not have to do damage to be very strong.

Bard does HUGE damage. What are you smoking?

Like I said, Taric is all about utility, just like before, and you do not need to do massive amounts of damage to be strong.

Unless you're Soraka or Alistar, you need to be able to HARASS to be a support, or the enemy will just fucking ignore you. And with Taric's heal being as godawful as it is (ridiculously long cooldown, he WON'T be able to use his passive to reduce it, pathetic heal numbers and retarded mana cost) you're gonna get worn down REAL quick while he's completely incapable of striking back.

Also, why are they turning the "Gem Knight" into the "sit on your ass and shield and heal people knight"? Old Taric was NOT a "utility support", not like this new one. He was more of a jack of all trades- some initiate or peel with Dazzle, some heal with Imbue, auras with Shatter and Radiance and some good damage and the AR shred.

You were never really able to harass before as Taric other than using his E to trade or to engage.. which you can still do... from 2 locations.. at the same time..

I honestly do not know why you're complaining.

Its means he likely won't be viable at all in a solo lane.

IcyPepper3 votes

He has one damaging ability and his passive. Does help that he's ranged, though.

Arcane Azmadi1 votes

His passive does IMMENSE damage thanks to Thunderlords. His level 1 damage is almost comparable to Karma's. Late game, once you have enough Meeps, it just fucking murders people.

Arcane Azmadi1 votes

Actually, Soraka significantly outdamages new Taric.

smooth, real smooth.

Have you noticed you haven't actually played him at all?

I am very interested in his new kit as support, but I don't see how he can solo lane? Didn't Riot say he would still be able to top lane or something? How?

Arcane Azmadi2 votes

They lied.

The new Taric will be proven in worlds. Trust me. His new kit is broken.

GaleWinUnleashed1 votes

Actually he seems to do okay in top lane. He just has to use his passive effectively in trades. Admittedly his early laning phase is a little rough with abysmal waveclear and subpar damage, but once he gets a tank item and something like sunfire/IBG he's alright.

Crowe Stalker1 votes

He's a utility/tank support. Seriously, his ultimate is an invulnerability that Riot has confirmed does not stop you from doing anything.

He has an ultimate, that makes you INVULNERABLE to damage, while STILL BEING ABLE TO DO THINGS, and you can proc it ON MULTIPLE PEOPLE. Plus, his E is now an AoE(ish) Stun, and he has a Shield AND a Heal.

His kit already does so much shit. The only thing he can't do is Engage. He's basically the Swiss Army Knife of Defensive Supports (akin to how Thresh is the Swiss Army Knife of Offensive Supports)

Arcane Azmadi1 votes

...so in other words, he's 100% passive now. I believe I just said that.

Excalibait1 votes

start twitch and watch some randoms streaming a bit of his gameplay. his E + 2AA's do quite some damage, especially when maxing E first. this thing has stupid good waveclear and makes him a pretty good top laner, from what i've seen so far.

just get the holy trinity of tank items and you wreck faces.

Big Lincoln1 votes

no, I don't, because he does plenty of damage. arguably more.

and new taric's ult isn't worthless

DesolationKaizer1 votes

At first yeah, his damage is pretty subpar. But from what I've seen, after he gets a sunfire/ibg, it definitely isn't damage you can ignore. Honestly, he has so much utility now and he doesn't seem as helpless in teamfights thanks to his being able to stun multiple targets, grant invulnerability to potentially all of his team, and area of effect heals.

Arcane Azmadi1 votes

So let me get this straight: once he gets a pair of items that do major damage completely irrespective of the champion building them, he does major damage. Gee, who would ever have guessed?

Zorae421 votes

Not really. If you're a champ with long CDs and/or slow attack speed, IBG doesn't do much for you. If you aren't tanky/have no sticking power, then sun fire isn't helpful.

He won't be killing tanks any time soon, but with that CDR, consistent dmg, and ability to proc his passive easily, he's doing a lot more sustained dmg.

Van Darkholme1 votes

I'm seeing new Taric as a defensive Bard in terms of what he brings to a team in terms of utility and CC

Bard might be able to roll up on people and mean-mug them after making them blow flash but he won't be able to protect Kog'maw like Taric can

Unpaladin1 votes

Taric only needs a small amount of CDR (I'm talking 20% at most) in order to cast his rotations of spells nonstop in battle. His passive is actually really strong, and I'm convinced he's going to have a situation similar to Poppy where he's actually dishing out respectable damage with one ability (in this case passive) for a utility tank.

Keep in mind that I said utility tank. That's something you forgot.

OverpoweredSoap1 votes

His damage is much more sustained now than it was before.

He has traded a bit of damage for more utility and the ability to make your entire team invulnerable to damage should not be dismissed.
