Should RIOT Rename or Remove "UNIQUE" From Non-Named Passives?

Title says it pretty much, and before anyone goes "They have better things to do", this is a job they could put 1 person on and it could be done in 1 or 2 days at most after deciding on the rename/removal. Now onto the reasoning behind why they should do this.

Unique by definition means "being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else" according to the dictionary, so why call item passives "unique" when it stacks with other items that have the exact same thing? Not very unique if other things have the exact same thing, so what is the logic behind naming them "Passive : UNIQUE" if they stack like normal stats (AD, AP, ATS, etc)?

Lets use Lethality items as the example for this because they are so popular right now. Duskblade of Draktharr: Passive: UNIQUE: +15 Lethality Edge of Night: Passive: UNIQUE: +15 Lethality Serrated Dirk: Passive: UNIQUE: +10 Lethality Youmuu's Ghostblade: Passive: UNIQUE: +20 Lethality I can understand Ghostblade's +20 Lethality (which is getting nerfed to +15 next patch) stacking with Duskblade's +15 Lethality and Dirk's +10 Lethality because they are all different numbers thus making them unique in their own sense, but why should Duskblade's +15 stack with Edge of Night's +15 if they are the exact same number if they are suppose to be "unique"? The only thing "Passive : UNIQUE" does is prevent self-stacking, but using "unique" without context can lead to confusion for newer/returning players believing such item's don't stack. This is why "Passive : UNIQUE (NAME)" items are a thing, the names show it doesn't self-stack and doesn't stack with other items.

"Passive : UNIQUE (NAME)" items follow the definition through their passives "being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else", which is how it should be. (IMMOLATE, AWE, HARMONY, etc) This means if you buy both Sunfire and Cinderhulk you only get the IMMOLATE passive from one of them, If you buy Rod of Ages and Righteous Glory you only get the ETERNITY passive from one of them. This is how "unique" is suppose to operate and named passives do this correctly.

They are unique because they don't stack with themselves. For example, if you buy 3 Edge of Nights, you only get 15 lethality.

I understand all of that myself, calling something "unique" though can be confusing when you have other items with the same things attached to them causing newer/returning players to think "These 2 items have the same thing, so I shouldn't buy them both so I don't waste gold on something that doesn't stack." Which is why renaming wouldn't be a bad idea to avoid such problems.

How do you then convey what passives of an item stack and what don't?

I'll agree it's not as intuitive as it could be, but it's there for a reason. I think more is lost in clarity than is gained in intuitiveness by this change.

Well Last Whisper and the 2 items it builds into has the name passive "Last Whisper" so adding something along those lines would probably be the correct way to go about it. It tells you directly "These items don't stack, don't even try it".

That's a named unique passive, your problem is unnamed unique passives vs unnamed passives.

item 1056 Passive: Restores 4 mana on killing a unit item 3108 UNIQUE Passive: 10% cooldown reduction

You can buy multiple Doran's Rings and get +4 mana for each ring, but buying multiple Fiendish Codex's will still result in only 10% CDR.

With your change you either need to give a unique name to every item with a unique, unnamed passive (adding a lot more text, making it less clear what's going on) or you lose clarity between the two types of passives.

Last Whisper and Spellblade are there for identical passives that exist on multiple items that are intended to be Unique.

What riot needs to do is make an actual tutorial this community is way to toxic to even try to help new playersvto explain stuff like this.

But then you would run into the issue of, "These items both give me lethality, but this one is cheaper, so I'll just build multiple of this."

there are also non Unique Passives like item 1056.

It's not that hard to understand:

Passive: Stacks Unique Passive: Doesn't stack with the same item. Unique Passive - Name: Doesn't stack with other items that have the same Unique Passive with the same name
