@Meddler/Scruffy/etc. - Neat skill ideas for you to work with. Which appeal to you?
EDIT: Downvoted for ideas. Go figure.
Got a few different ones for now; I'll add more if I think of them. You can get such good inspiration from other games.
Any names I use are simply placeholders. Don't take them too seriously.
#Ion Orb/Ion Bolt
First Cast - Ion Orb: Launch an Ion Orb in target direction, which deals physical damage to enemies it passes through. After using Ion Orb, you can activate Ion Bolt within the next few seconds.
Second Cast - Ion Bolt: Fire an Ion Bolt in target direction, dealing physical damage to the first enemy it hits. If Ion Bolt hits an Ion Orb, the Ion Orb explodes, dealing strong physical damage to enemies in a large area around it. Enemies already struck by Ion Orb take reduced damage from the explosion.
This one's inspired by the ASMD Shock Rifle from Unreal Tournament. I've been told Morello wants to put something like this into the game, but hasn't been able to yet. Probably tech issues.
#Seeker Bomb
Deploy a magical bomb that locks onto target enemy over a short duration. If the target does not get far enough away from the bomb before it finishes locking on, the bomb flies at the target (it's now undodgeable unless you become untargetable) and explodes on contact, dealing powerful damage in a blast radius. If the target gets out of range before the bomb finishes its lock-on, the bomb fizzles out and nothing happens.
The description on this one is hard, so to compare it to something, compare it to the live version of the Starcraft II Raven's Seeker Missile. This one wouldn't be reliable without setup, so you could afford to put a lot of power into this.
#Spell-Strike
Generate a spell-shield around yourself for ~1 second. Additionally, your next basic attack deals bonus damage, but consumes the spell-shield upon striking. If the spell-shield successfully blocks an enemy spell, the bonus damage is increased. Resets attack timer; applies on-hit effects.
This one isn't inspired by another game, but is something I came up with. This would be really cool on an antimage-type character, and the way it's designed gives some choice on timing.
#Infestation
(Toggle) Mark a target location. While active, you continuously spawn "Broodlings" that advance toward the location you marked, attacking any enemies they come across. These Broodlings do not cause unit collision, are extremely fragile, and expire after a short time, but do considerable damage. Upkeep cost increases each second Infestation remains active.
Think Swarm Hosts from Starcraft II, but on serious steroids. Basically you spawn those Broodlings rapidly and they'll march toward your enemy in a tide of Zerg Swarming! Only downside: upkeep cost goes up every second, like Swain's ultimate.
That's what I've got for now. Which one do you like most?
