I would honestly like to see cooldown reduction completely gutted

I'm a mage player too, but honestly it is so fucking easy to get 40% cdr. Transcendence, a 20% cdr item, and then lich bane or zhonya's and boom. Quite literally every single class of champion has access to obscene amounts of cdr, even fucking adc's (30% cdr on one item xd). You cannot tell me that damage creep and the ubiquity of waveclear is not directly linked to this. At this point in the game, mages can have 3 second waveclear abilities at ~10 minutes.

I agree. Cdr has gotten way too prevalent. It should be difficult to itemize and you should go out of your way to get it.

I think that CDR is complex. The state of the game now there's really a very predictable progression from 0-40%, and virtually every mage is at 40% by midgame or slightly after. Thus, it's clear what their cooldowns will be.

Once you start making it a choice between CDR and power, you start making it less clear for the opponents - who now have to figure out their CDs for different levels of CDR.

I personally would rather them remove CDR from items altogether and find some other way to implement it (obviously compensating champs for their loss of CDR items)
