Shyvana changes

A lot of people think Shyvana got buffed this patch however when I saw the patch notes and PBE changes I thought it was more of a nerf. They gave her the slightest buff with her base armor however I think the e change was more of a nerf than a buff. They lowered the base damage on her e however made it scale with ad since shyv doesn't build ap items. The problem is most shyvana's don't build any damage items most of the time other than item 3748 and item 1416 (Bloodrazer) (which gives no ad so only item 3748 helps her e). Honestly I think this is the most random change and I don't see her coming back in any way with these changes. If Riot wants to bring back more carry junglers back in the meta they should buff Bloodrazer to make the meta more diverse rather than having tanks rule the jungle meta. (btw I may have a bronze icon but if you check my op.gg account I am D5 so I'm not half bad at the game and know what I'm talking about). What's your oppinion on the Shyvana change's? Can she really come back or is the new change more of a nerf rather than a buff?

The reason it's a buff is because the AD scaling is on total AD. So while you lost 40 base damage at level 18, you in return get AD scaling. Shyvana's Base AD is around 122 at level 18, so in the end it's a wash just off of base stats and really there was no damage reduction as 30% of 122 is a little more than 40 points, which at that point simply makes it a change.

Afterwards is where the buff comes in, so literally any AD you build gives you an increase in damage to the ability. So literally just having titanic hydra means you now deal 10 more damage than it did before. Add to that bonuses from Infernal dragon and baron, even extra AD items that you might consider building if you're snowballing, and you see where it's a buff.

As far as coming back I think this is far too small of a buff to really bring her back when there's a tank meta rolling in.

correct me if i'm wrong but it's a total AD ratio not bonus AD so the damage loss is offset by her base AD to some degree. She also benefits more from any AD items she might ever want to buy. Also AD runes are a thing

The Flame Breath ratio is based on Total AD, meaning even her base damage is added to the amount of damage it can do.

I'm actually quite interested to see if this makes Sterak's Gage strong on her. Add in maybe a Trinity Force at some point and you've got yourself a beef-cake diver that can 3-shot a squishy champion for the majority of the game.

Did you not notice they gave it a total AD scaling? The lowered base is mostly there to compensate for that. Also, the lowered base damage is only on the dragon form missile's initial impact damage. The regular missile seems like it gets a straight up buff, and the dragon form seems like it will still deal as much or more if they stay in the DoT for a second or two.

For a rough estimate of the math (for dragon form), you lose 60 base damage at level 18, but you gain 0.3*total AD, which is about 110-120 at that level, so let's say 35. You only need to build enough AD to compensate for 25 base damage lost at that point. To be fair, that's still more than a titanic hydra, but the nerf is small at that point.

To sum things up: Early clear sustain up. E damage increased across the board, particularly at later levels and with AD purchased. Dragon form missile impact damage slightly nerfed in the mid-late game unless you get more AD than just a titanic hydra, but goes even or up if they stay in the burn zone for more than a second or two.

It's definitely a pretty decent overall buff, unless I'm really reading those patch notes wrong.
