Imagine how fucking OP this would be in LoL making certain champions completely invalid and others unkillable gods. It's amazing how two similar games can be so dramatically different. DotA incorporates friendly fire to deny gold, advanced lane management, the terrain is more integrated than simply walls and bushes, and they are able to incorporate more status effects such as going incorporeal and mana burn as a viable strategy to deal with mages. That games Thornmail actually has an active that deals back huge chunks of damage, aura items, etc, etc.

LoL is a much more simplified game in every way. I don't hate that, it's just crazy to think that a single item can completely ruin whatever tenuous grasp of balance Riot achieves.
