Crit Reduction Removed from Randuin's Omen

4/6 PBE Update

So...what do we buy it for now? A nice AOE slow? Tanks already have giant AOE CC, at least the ones people play do. The item just seems like a worse version of Dead Man's Plate now, especially since it's reliant on using an active rather than a simple passive ability.

I don't know. So far all these changes look like nerfs to me. Gaining 100% health for a few seconds seems...alright, I guess, but it really probably doesn't matter much compared to item 3053 's shield.

So it begins. Thise game will go to shit for the next few months, if Riot listens to ADC mains cryings. Because they will keep asking for buffs and won't be satisfied, until they can 1v5.

rip, why tf did they do that though, now what? they'll allready get bonus 50% damage from ie, and the measly 10% wasn't helping much allready

Yeah dont like the randuins change at all. I would pick it up for the higher base defensives than the other items, but that's all getting streamlined to provide the same armor and HP, while gutting the unique defensive abilities. The 2 sec slow is so minor too than champs hit with the slow can still reliably get away

Why not Steraks AND Stoneplate?

They said that it's ended and that Critical Strike characters are supposed to be the most effective against tanks.

EDIT: Here's what Riot Repertoir said

  • ''Randuin's is possibly too weak in this version, though it still is the strongest of the HP/Armor items defensively, and has the lowest price point. As mentioned very briefly, there are some possible change to penetration coming that perhaps will help with this concern. One thing I didn't get into in the main post (but am happy to here) is that the removal of Crit Damage Reduction from Randuin's is intended to head off and/or defuse some power creep in the shop, especially since crit users are generally supposed to be successful at dealing damage to tanks. Some of these changes may result in outlier champions that have special crit interactions, and in that case, we'll need to address those case by case.''

especially since crit users are generally supposed to be successful at dealing damage to tanks.

So there there... :/

Riot is trying to stop item 3153 from being a core item in every adc build.

Maybe that needs nerfs then instead of removing crit reduction from randuins

I'd rather have the reliable passive than yet another active item. Seriously riot, laptops are not pianos, stop making us use them as such, just to be effective.

It's a 50% damage reduction that boosts the power of health scaling shields. It's a fairly niche item for a few champions - specifically, tanks. Sterak's is a juggernaut item, which most tanks won't build very often, if ever.
