How is AP Alistar able to instakill people with 170 AP?

So I was fighting an Alistar who got a little fed, causing him to get about 170 AP midgame. With no health at all in his kit (zhonyas and lichbane) he somehow had over 2.5k health at this point and was able to instakill anyone (even the tanks) with his combo. Again, he had 170 AP. Nobody, not even someone who people love calling broken like can even come close to instakilling someone with 170 AP in total. I seriously and honestly think that this guy was either scripting or Alistars AP ratios need complete nerfs.

170AP item 3100 Unique: Base AD (61.112 (+3.62 each lvl) *.75) + 85 extra damage(ap) Q: 60 / 105 / 150 / 195 / 240 (+ 50% AP) ~85 damage extra W: 55 / 110 / 165 / 220 / 275 (+ 70% AP) ~119 extra damage and passive: 7 - 24( +1 per lvl)+ ~17 extra damage (ap)

so pick a lvl, pick a stat block and add...

EX. lvl 9 (with stats Q=5, W=3, E=0, R=1)

**240+50 **+ (lvl9 ad=86 *(.75)=64.5 )+85 + 220+119 + 15 + 17 [......Q..].....[...........Lich.....still................]..[.....W......]...[...Passive.] =810.5 damage with q w aa lich bane and passive in account

I mentioned that he had zhonyas too. Also, use the 40% reduction of magic resist in that math and then we'll see how balanced it is.

Zhonya's Hourglass only adds AP, so that's already in the equation (assuming your 170 AP was accurate). Percentage magic resist reduction won't affect his math because he's calculating max damage with 0 magic resist. Any amount of magic resistance will only reduce that damage, as percentage resist reduction cannot reduce resistance past 0.

ealry/mid game it's less about the AP numbers he has, and more about the level advantage

anyone midgame with a 3 level lead will oneshot people while building damage

He was actually behind in levels due to a lack of cs, and I was the same level as him.

Alistar has either the highest or second highest base health in the game. Something like that.

Was he rocking TLD?

AP Alistair hits like a truck on fire and because of his high base health he can get reasonably tanky without items (because of his ult).

Honestly I don't have an answer for AP Alistair to justify his existence. Because of his ult he nullifies the weakness of a tank building damage, being squishy.
