I actually start long sword on Talon. Once you get more experienced it's easier to manage. And long sword helps with lane trades and last hitting (Talon has only 55 base AD) Now, that being said, I was always buying 1 mana potion at the start, and then end up buying an average of 5 more during the game. He is very mana dependent.

need mana buffs. Idk how many mana pots (+flask, you can do nothin without flask) I end up buying on these guys, but I would estimate about 20 per game.
I am diamond 3, experience has nothing to do with it. They should buff mana regen of all champs that used crystaline flask.

Being d3 means nothing. We're talking about a champion, not about your elo. I agree, all champions who use flask and mana potions should get a hard buff in mana regen.
So far it looks like they buffed mana size. That's gonna be lovely...

Well they added 50mana. That's not rly anything. I think they are afraid to give mana regen, because of the new masteries. But no one will get those on AD champs..
I don't know, I've been considering using the cunning tree for some toplaners, like
. I think most assassins (and before people get into an argument about what is and what isn't an assassin, I have a forum topic where you can voice your opinion. http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/jE72ynIM-what-makes-an-assassin ) will benefit from putting points in the cunning tree.
The masteries aren't clear-cut offense/defense/utility anymore, there are plenty of powerful offense options in the cunning tree right alongside the utility it provides (like free flat pen, which is a pretty strong commodity for a burst assassin now that LW and co. only give % bonus pen).
I do not want Pantheon to have mana regen buffs. The guy is just plain annoying to play against in lane with his Q spam all day. At least now, he'll have to be cautious in lane.

Have you read your post? That's the whole point of Pantheon. He's a lane bully. If he can't spam Q and kill you in lane, he's worthless later.
And his lane is all he really has. Short of getting fed in lane, he's not great mid game. Late game he falls off no matter what.

Agreed
will need some nice mana regen buff and/or base mana buff. I like playing him top, and always started either flask/2 health/1 mana or long sword/2 health/1 mana. If I don't start flask, I end up buying 1-2 mana pots every back to make sure I don't oom too quickly. The removal of mana sustain will ruin his laning and beyond if he doesn't get proper compensation.
Worst case scenario, he'll get a kit rework in a year or two.
Or he's up for one. I don't know, but if he can't fulfill his basic function (which is to be a lane bully) then he'll need to get buffed or reworked. Course he can be played in the jungle (with all that mana sustain) but champions I feel he should be viable in toplane.
Edit: Which currently, he is. In my opinion.
Hope they buff instead of nerf irelia's XD
SAME EXACTLY THE SAME I ALSO GO long sword + 2 hp and 1 mana then later buy more mana potions till lvl 10 or so... but now mana potion got removed so ;(
Do people even read the whole update anymore? because they didnt remove it, they changed it.
CRYSTALINE FLASK (Price 345) > refillable potion 2 health charges (Price 150), upgrades to
Hunters potion (Price 400 250+150) heals health and mana 5 charges (additional 1 refill for killing large monsters) or
Corrupting potion (Price 500 350+150) 3 health and mana charges, one charge makes 1 spell or auto burns the opponent for 15-30 damage over 3 seconds.
READ BEFORE YOU QQ.
Crystaline flask doesn't exist anymore. It's just called "refillable potion", which gives 100 hp over whatever seconds, 2 charges, for 150 gold, which then upgrades into the other ones.
The bases of the flask is still existing, they just changed the name to fit the upgrades. Did you even read my post?
Don't be like this guy.
Whole new refillable potions.......
He should be a manaless champion.
Or at least use energy.
Oh you said manaless. I thought you meant resourceless.
Well I meant resourceless.
Ahh. Honestly I think he'd work well with energy. Not sure why it's not used more often.
Nah, Energy doesn't fit him at all.
Energy is ionia only, because lore
His sister is manaless, makes sense.
Not blood related.
Not even like, adopted. Talon just works for the Du Couteau's more or less (albeit he is much more loyal than just a servant). I mean, cass legimitely is katarina's sister and she has massive mana costs lol.
Honestly should just be an energy champion or something similar to energy.
He'd probably then need some pretty big number changes to his rake at least. That shit being even more spammable would be toxic as fuck in lane.
Spammable? It has a 10 second cooldown and deals pathetic damage. Also his laning phase is terrible, even if he was resourceless he would still be really weak in lane.
it's an easy to land ability that has great scaling and with a few levels, a long sword, and armor pen runes you can keep taking down the enemies hp bit by bit every 10 seconds. Mana keeps him from being able to do this as often. He has a fine late game, his early game doesn't have to be easy as fuck.

It's actually getting a name change and a buff to its healing and admittedly a nerf to its mana sustain as well as getting a random DoT effect for nothing extra damage.
Corrupting Potion 500 Gold Limited to one type of Healing Potion. UNIQUE Active: Consumes a charge to restore 150 Health and 50 Mana over 12 seconds and grants Touch of Corruption during that time.Holds up to 3 charges that refill upon visiting the shop. Touch of Corruption: Spells and attacks burn enemy champions for 5-10 Magic damage over 3 seconds. (Half Damage for Area of Effect of Damage over Time spells. Damage increases with champion level.
Crystalline Flask 345 Gold Starts with 3 charges and refills each time you stop by your shop. Consumes a charge to restore 120 health and 60 mana over 12 seconds.
Keep in mind that everyone will be starting with 500 gold at spawn so this basically shoves all mana reliant champion's starting item as Corrupting Potion.
So Talon probably just needs a bit of of a mana regen buff. Or just buff mana sustain on Corrupting Potion.
I think you can buy the potion that builds into this for less and then get it later.
As a Wukong player I think I will just opt to buy Corrupting Potion straight away. He really needs the mana sustain for early trades at top, though he doesn't really need it if it's a semi-passive lane. Helps with CSing with that extra magic damage as well. Also funny seeing Riot revert Doran's back to a flat health return after a whole season of %. Doran's gain of lifesteal was because Riot wanted Doran's Blade to have an impact in mid and mid-late game.
I would rather have riot buff talons damage then mana regen he can't go OOM if his opponent is already dead...
Damn, you should apply for a job at Riot.
Did you miss the part where they're adding a comparable replacement?
A lot of mana hungry champions are getting their base mana increased.
There's also a new Mastery that lets you regenerate 1.5% of your missing mana five seconds.
With those two combined, I suspect it should help out mana hungry champions considerably.
Corrupting potion (which serves basically the same function as crystalline flask) is a solid starting item that efficiently uses all of your starting gold for a mix sustain and damage. Across all three charges it only gives 150 mana instead of 180 mana, but it also gives 450 total health for three charges (up from 360) and gives you a handy DoT effect that adds 5-10 damage per second after any trade (not sure if it stacks with itself or not).
Granted, it isn't perfect because currently you can go Crystalline flask+3 pots and have a lot more effective health for your very first stint in lane, but in the long run it is more efficient with the new corrupted potion.
Disagree. Talons lane phase is supposed to be weak, flask has always been pretty good at masking that. If you pick a high-risk, high-reward pick like talon, you shouldn't have flask to get you through to 6.
High reward?
Long sword start is better tbh.
I do know they are making separate refillable mana and health flasks that costs 150 gold each, but I do agree. They are giving a lot of champs mana buffs and quite a few champs are not getting one cause... reasons? If they are giving compensation buffs for that many champs, why can't the rest of them have the same buff? Some of those champs who are getting skipped are really mana hungry and this change is likely going to hurt them bad. The least they could do is give them more base mana to cope.
Talon: Base Mana: 327.2 -> 377.2 Increased by 50 Mana Per Level: 40 -> 37 Lowered by 3
No regen buffs, but he gained some base mana for a small scaling tradeoff.
Don't forget Jayce.... he needs that for sustain.
